Knight has excellent instincts for how his character is presented, Cena gets it and has the improvisational skill to meet LA's energy. It is kind of a shame they don't get to work together more often as Knight is the same kind of Babyface with an edge that Cena can be when he really embraces roasting his opponents on the mic.

You look at wrestlers from the 1980s and they look 50-55 at 30, and they're retired at 40. Vince wouldn't let "Macho Man" wrestle after 40 because he was "old", so he went to WCW. Now days, 40 is a lot of these guy's physical prime.

That was a year ago, give or take a month or two, so he’s like 41 now. I’m 39 and no matter what I do I’ll never look 10 or 20 years younger.

Knights does impressions very well and probably didn’t even realize he was doing it. It wouldn’t be someone in creative because they already planned this out. So it would have had to been another wrestler. Rhodes meant well but Knights approach to his character is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE and you’re right it would have made absolutely no sense for him to raise Cenas hand. Knight did it later on and acknowledged he remembered the person telling him so it clearly wasn’t anything heated. I’m just speculating it was Rhodes because of the voice and sounds like something he would say because his approach is 100% babyface. Knight approach is completely different because he got over as a heel and hasn’t changed much haha

I also remember the journalist asking cena all the questions and cena got testy asking if anyone has a question for la knight lol. It was cool to see that show of respect from la knight though. The fact that cena knows many consider him one of the greatest of all time but would prefer to raise the hand of those he is in the ring with rather than have his own raised. Is really cool.

First off john has been in the business for a whike he has been heel and face so he knows how to work a character and second he knew that ĹA Knight had to play his part that is why john was okay with it backstage either hasnt been in the ring or hasn't been in a while so they dont know what is going on so hats off to them both
La knight could go like this - win a US or INT title, then after he drops it heel turn- similar to how rocky is a heel( full of himself) , can win first championship as a heel - later face turn would then be epic after he drops the main belt and comes back as a face to win again
