    If those voltage amplifiers get loose connections the outputs on them can short out, meaning you will only hear sound from the speakers or headphones at max volume (preamps)

      Might be the problem my DE835 has. It would randomly play sound on start up. I would have to turn it on/off many times til it decided to work. When it wouldn't play sound, if you turned it up all the way, you would hear a faint saint. It did this for a couple years until it got bad enough that no matter how many times i turned it on/off, it rarely would work. Replaced it with a Denon AVR-989 in 2016. The Sony was used daily since 2000. The late 90's/early 2000's Sonys are great, the last time Sony was good with home audio.

    Very good job. And good receiver . I love vintage technology because are the best. New technology are Chinese garbage not last and made with bad materials. You have a gold technology

      @@AudioTomReviews Beastly Amps. Did you find the service manual for it that's online? it has "updates" for deleting transistors on the rear amp and main board, placing jumpers and changing resistor values. Just wondering if you might be able to shed some light on what those changes do.
