Yep,those were the days, an Italian design with an expression, sat in the back of 850 special, as a little boy, the year 1971,memories still vivid lol.
My brother was sleeping in the back sit and I was sleeping in the back window!

We had this car back in the late 60's early 70's in Europe.
My father was racing with the 850 engine.
The engine was air cooled, very reliable.
I wish some car companies would make simple cars like the FIAT 850 today.

Got out of the service in Jan 71,bought a 66 Caddy convertible, traded in for a brand new 71 Fiat 850 sedan. Fiat price tag was something like 1,650 $. What a fun car to drive but slower than molasses. Bought a second car a 65 Sunbeam Tiger. Driving one of them a couple of days then switch to the other was always a real experience .

The racing versions were prepared by Abarth Racing . The sign of Abarth is the Scorpion on the front, the Coupé with the 2000 cc 180 bhp was faster than a Dino 206 GTS because it shorter and lighter. Top speed 235 km/h 0 to 60 less than 6 seconds
The wind flaps are best air conditioning to have. I wish modern cars came with an option.

The original 850 engine ran anticlockwise fooling many an experienced mechanic. Timing chain would last 10,000 miles if you were lucky before it began rattling like hell. Those were the days !
In the seventies, a friend of mine drove an 850 spyder, and after a visit to the shop, the car would not start, and no shop seemed to be able to fix it. As it happened, I drove a four door Seat 850 in my native Spain, so I offered to take a gander, and it only took me an hour to figure that someone had installed the distributor backwards or some such. And by the way, my own car had a bog standard 52HP engine and it would do 85 speedo mph fully loaded with four passengers. The owner of the one shown is quite right that you could lose the rear end at the drop of a hat, especially with the standard bias ply tires.
