I hope that there could be discussions between Unitarian Christian alliance with Tovia Singer as he tends to interpret the Old testament to denounce Christianity.
Indeed it was a Tovia Singer video on Isaiah 9:6 that first intrigued me into looking at the tenses of the verbs. I think he would agree with my approach.
Hi Sean, can you help me, I am struggling with Romans 8:26. If the Holy Spirit is not a third person of the Trinity, if it's the power of God, if it's belonging to God, to who God makes intercession to? I am doing some research about the Trinity. I don't believe in it but I am struggling with this verse.
Sean has a humble way of presenting his convictions. I appreciate his continued stance against the Catholic Trinity myth. But I am not convinced that this important verse is to be regarded as merely a theophoric (throne) name for the coming Davidic king. Some reasons (without elaborating here) are: [1] All of the Bible should be consulted along with the immediate context. The concept of Yahweh's' incarnation/ embodiment in a material person is a fact of Torah revelation. One instance is when Yahweh appeared as a man who could eat with Abram in Genesis 18. [2] Not one of the prophets was ever named before their birth even though further prophets like Moses was promised. Therefore, the child born for Israel is unique and more than a mere prophet. [3] The prophets never verbalize the future incarnation of Yahweh but they do intimate it at times. The NT apostles confirm and verbalize in various ways, after the fact, the reality of God's incarnation/ embodiment. [4] The objection that the multiplied name in Isaiah 9:6 is unheard of regarding other prophets is actually alluded to, and established by, the Johannine writings, which most clearly reveals the union of Yahweh and the Messiah (John 1:1c, 10; John 10:30; John 14:10-11; John 20:28; 1 John 5:20; Rev 1:7-8; Rev 22:6,12-16). [5] The special combination of God embodied in the Messiah can make sense of the (otherwise conflicting and untenable) combination of "Mighty God/ Everlasting Father" with the idea of a "Prince of peace," because God would never be consider a son of anyone.
If you read this in the Tanach you’ll understand, but you have to read Isaiah from Chapter 1 to know what’s going on. Then pay particular attention starting with Chapter 7… in the days of Ahaz… the child is a sign to Ahaz and Israel, and it’s a child born to Ahaz who ruled and SAVED Jerusalem and Judah… Hezekiah was a type of Savior in the short run. It’s not about Yeshua in the immediate sense but Hezekiah (like David) was a foreshadowing of the ETERNAL savior and KING who will sit on the throne over ISRAEL (Jerusalem and Judah), which is what the previous chapters are all about!
"his name Shall be" is an absolute tense. If you think present day jews care anything about Christians learning Hebrew, or care about Christians at all for that matter, you are gravely deceived.
The verse, rightly translated should say, "For a child is born for us; a son is given to us, and government will be on his shoulder, and his name will be call wonderful counsellor, a mighty ruler, founder of the eon, prince of peace;" KtK
The Son to be born is already with the Father as a Word according to the Bible. And then the Word that became Flesh (human). And according to the Bible, the Word "has granted to have life in Himself" (John 5:26) through the Holy Spirit of God the Father Most High (Luke 1:35 & Matthew 1:20). And Jesus said, now Father glorify Me in your presence with the glory I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN (read John 17:5 & John 17:24). And this is why Jesus said, Abraham was greatly rejoiced to see My day (John 8:56). Because Jesus said, before Abraham was I Am (John 8:58). And one of the three Angels who visited Abraham had said, Is anything too hard for the LORD (Genesis 18:14).
Gashintoutan: i think many people see Jewish as " antimessiah" not so? The Jewish peopke just do not except Jesus as the Messiah and feel the true messiah is yet to happen. As a Christain myself, when considering the fractured nature of Judiasm from 300bc to jesus time , then the addutional distortion of the REAL CHRIST wirh trinuty, helkfire, immortal soul. And of course the 1700 years if ,," JEW HATE" practuces by the Church, DONT YOU UNDERSTAND JUYST A LITTLE WHY THEY REJECT CHRUSTIANITY, ?,?
so is there any virgin/bethulah in Isaiah prophecy (dual) ??? not at all ! so please get your magical so called tammuz virgin birth of Jesus behind !an "Almah/Young noble maiden unmarried" (betrothed in the case of Maryam), never was and will never be a "Bethulah/virgin", as the prophetress in Isaih was pregnant !
Romyim 1: 1-4 : "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead." You see Tony, there are 2 fathers here, David and God, The FLESH/BODY from David, and The Spirit so The Holy Spirit of The Father, The fathering/overshadowing God of Yeshua). + THE 2 AGENCIES AND REGENCIES OF THE BELIEVERS IN THE WORD OF LIFE AND RECONCILIATION
Wonderful....nothing like knowing the accuracy of God's Word.
Thanks to God who has not left us at the mercy of an unfounded mystery dogma.

It is just someone's name: Pele-joez-el-gibbor-Abi-ad-sar-shalom. Why all the fuss?

If you watch the presentation, you'll see why this kind of translation is very strained and therefore unlikely to be correct.
