I bough this model more than 27 years ago and its is still work fine!, I wear its every days basically, ( old model don t have Date), and I just learn how the bezel work ! Lol, the video is extremely useful l to people like me, love its , and thanks omega
I just bought my 300m 42mm at the Omega Boutique in Beverly Hills today. It’s stainless with black dial and 8800 movement. In just one day of ownership I must say it’s fantastic in every way. The only thing I don’t see in any of the online videos is how to properly clean it. Proper cleaning will prevent micro abrasions and micro scratches on the case. I recommend using a drop of Dawn and gently move your fingers around the watch pushing away any stuck debris that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Then rinse under like warm water gently removing the dawn till it’s completely clean. Then I use a can of air to gently remove any water that is trapped in and around the lugs and crown. Then I use a clean microfiber cloth to very gently wiping it dry. The sapphire glass will have no visible streaks and the stainless body will have no residue leaving it the appearance of when it was new. The reason I wrote this was because the sales associates although very knowledgeable and very kind people both told me to use a spray and just wipe it down. From experience I know that method will allow for micro debris to be pushed across the polished surface and leading to small abrasions on the surface.
As far as I am concerned, micro abrasion is un-avoidable. My watches backs which are either in contact with my skin+hair, tissues or wood are all micro-abrased although none of the listed contact materials are abrasive against either stainless steel or titanium. I would say, wear it daily, enjoy it, take care of it but forget about avoiding micro-abrasions... as the only way to avoid these would be to keep the watch in a safe but then why buy it if it is not to wear it ?
*** It is not recommended to adjust the date between 8pm and 2am. This is indeed very important and it goes to all watches across all brands quartz or automatic with the quickset date function.
Unreal! I've been setting the date on my Omega 300m Chronograph by winding the time round and round until it's the Wright date....... What a handicap I am..... Only had it 5 years!! At least now I know!! Thanks!!
My jeweler that sold me this timepiece told me to adjust the date only when the hour and minute hand are at the bottom pointing at the 6pm/am, otherwise place the hands there before adjusting the date. This prevents the gears to grind and get damaged over time.
I'm sure the blue quartz one I used to have, would allow setting movement of only the hour hand also. Making it easy to adjust at time zones, or in the UK between GMT and DST.
Question for anyone. Recently my watch started a stop and go even while wearing it, even though it is wound up. One minute it will stop, then it will start ticking again, then hours will elapse before it will start ticking again. I also noticed the winding calibre inside is making noise when it rotates which hasn't happened before. It used to be whisper quiet. Can it come loose inside? Get off track? Anyone experience this before with your movement?
Guys i want a calibre 2500 but when i look to buy they have those long codes like 220.567.etc how do i know what code the calibre 2500 is?, it's doing my nut in i want one similar to this or with a nice yellow inside
Just got my 8800 I assume it is simliar. One thing I notice when setting up the date is not to adjust during certain time? My sales rep did told me something about make sure the hands are above the 3 and 9 when adjusting the date.
I love the watch but I dislike the steel bracelet. I have the black rubber strap version and initially wanted to buy the steel bracelet to switch it up but I was hoping for a tapered bracelet, preferably oyster style. I am now looking for a quality 3rd party oyster or jubilee that isn’t so thick and that goes well but I wanted it to be Omega.
Extend the micro extension all the way out. Very important, as there are two nubs that prevent the extension from pulling when the micro is all the way in. Then lift the last bracelet link up. The center will pull out. When you put it back together, put the center part of the extension into the clasp first, then fold it down. Otherwise it won’t seat properly.
What I do is change the time to 6.30 then change the date. I don't always wear the watch and forget to wind daily. I've recently purchased a watch winder that turns for 1 hour then rests for 3 continuously 😎
There are many movement designs but the 2892 (coax 2500 base) has a simple design that uses a wheel with a tooth that flips the date. I don't think it can be damaged in this design. Other movements may interfere as the wheels are turning during that time and could get jammed or damaged. It could be a cautious warning.
HELL yes. If you wear it for a few hours every day it will affectively never need winding. It can start to run very slightly slow, then 20 winds may do it good until many more weeks go by :)
Yes but you also wear the gears and may need to have it serviced more frequent. If you wear it every day out and about that is fine but if you are say working from home remote don't wear it just so you dont have to wind it.
well, this watch has power reserve iasue. i have one w cermic bezel. omega seamaster professional 300m . it has power reserve issue, i dont know what to do about it.
Dear Omega. Could you please put the 8500calibre into the seamaster 300m? I wouldnt care if it cost 4000$ more. I would run to my next OMEGA boutique and buy it! What kept me from buying one is that ETA-2500 based. I hope you could upgrade that at baselworld 2013. It would make me and many others realy happy ;) Thanks

Or you could just wear the watch like normal and accept the fact that it’ll get scratched anyway

Should also remind the user to make any adjustment of any crown when the watch is totally dry.
what do you mean by that
Come on Batman, plug the brain in.
Watch is still rated at 5 atm with the crown open. So you don’t need to worry like that.

Yellow inside? I think you need to do a bit more research...
Do these instructions apply to the Seamaster with 8800 movement?

@3:02 How do I unclip the bracelet to extend the dive extension? I've had my watch for a year and still can't figure it out
Just pull it hard

Can u move the time backwards or is that bad for the movement
Just out of curiousity, why does it matter if I were to set the date between 8pm and 2am? What will it do?
+Taigashen hi is it just the date ajustment or does this apply to time setting also? Thanks
What you can change the date at anytime
Taigashen then why have a quick change?
Taigashen quick date set. Like you can quickly change the date on this watch. Why have that feature if it's bad to change between 8-2

Why is it not recommended to adjust the date between 8pm and 2am?
Because this is when the gears for the date are engaged and there a risk of damaging them.
