Doesn't matter if you have your worst round of golf ever if you do enter, we are all cheering for you no matter what. Dont put so much pressure on yourself and go for it! Live the dream! ⛳⛳⛳

That triple was a killer; quite unusual for Peter. At some point in life, we must not have regrets: so go for it Finchy: play that Open qualifyer, what do you have to lose? Good luck man!
Please Pete, don’t give up on your dream. I look to people like you, Michael Block, JR Smith, the older club pro from the US Open that finally qualified after many years as inspiration. I picked up golf in 2018 at the age of 34 and have since reached scratch at 39 with an average carry of 290. I am smart enough to know that my window for a hall of fame professional career is long passed, but watching you work hard makes me believe that anything is possible. At my age, just getting through the first stage would be one of the greatest moments of my life. People like me need to see you never give up.
No honestly, I'm 19 and I've been playing since I was 11 and I wanted to sign up for US Open qualifying but I didnt have the money for it. I was shocked to see he wanted to play in Open qualifying which is why I watched the video. His mental is the worst part about his game, if he plays confident like he did on the par 3 then he'll be where he wants to be.
I just started playing Golf this March at the age of 34! Been wanting to play since I was a kid, but life happened differently. Now that I'm really getting into it, I am of course wondering what could've been... My dream right now is to reach scratch at least for a year or two. Reading your comment has me believing I can actually do it! So Pete has inspired you has inspired me :)
Pete's MH is also important though. If comp stuff is damaging that, he's best off staying out. He's the only one who can decide his own future and what's best for him.
@@LonelyStranger24 thanks! I know you can do it. It took a lot of work. I practice something pretty much every day. Which is not easy with a full time job. Also, you HAVE to get a good instructor. Someone that can help you identify any swing faults. The thing about swing faults is that they “feel” right. So you need someone knowledgeable that can see them and help you correct it. Once I improved mine (I don’t think I will ever fully eliminate it) I started regularly shooting in the 70’s.
Come on Pete! Your game is top notch! If you would have putted slightly more agressive & hadn't had the unlucky bounce, you would be under par! If there was ever a chance of you getting on the Open, now is the time! You will forever think "what if this was the year I got in?". Give it a go !!!!
I think I speak on behalf of all viewers when I say I felt your pain with your 7 on 7! Some great golf shots on what looks like a really tricky course.
Great show as always! Loved your soliloquy about the pains of golf. So true. As an old timer, a starting ranger at a local course, once told me when he greeted me at the first tee, "Golf is a cruel mistress."
Go for it Pete, you’ve been playing so well. Don’t let one bad hole stop you! I love your channel and that you interact with your crew throughout, keep it up!
Best break 75 episode so far!! Too soon? Pete, in all seriousness, I honestly think I almost enjoy watching you play these rounds more than I like playing golf! Almost. ❤
I know you have already played this but I'm cheering for you. You have to MAKE this happen. Make the ball do what you want it to. If you fail it's on you and you only. In order to make the ball do what you want you must first make yourself do what you need. That's all there is to it.
Keep going Pete don’t give up on your dream. Really enjoy this type of content and I think I speak for a lot of people we all hope you keep trying for the open
You were Rory McIlroy here! Couldn’t seem to buy a putt! Honestly I think your game is there to enter, but if it’s gunna knock you mentally it isn’t worth it! You do you man!
You might as well go for it - if you can get your head in the place that you’re doing for fun and without expectation - because your golf suffers when you put yourself under pressure. And, you’re not getting any younger - do it while you can, we’re rooting for you. 👍👏👏
Hey Pete - 3rd level tour pro here. I noticed you think a lot ahead and sort of plan out the holes on which you think you can make birdies and the holes you think are tough. Try and focus more on the hole you're on and where you need to hit it in order to leave yourself the easiest shot. Your is actually good. Driving is top notch and mid/long irons are great. Work on those wedges and distance control and some pitching as well. You're really not far off! Love the content!!! And best of luck :) one shot at a time mate
Pete, I'm a big fan of you, and your channel. Dude, just go for it anyway! Why not? I know you said it's painful to struggle in competitive golf, but dude, you're a great golfer and you still have youth on your side! I'm a 46 year old golfer, barely breaking 80 and if I was flirting with good scores like you, I would love to try to qualify even if I didn't make it. Just go for it! I've got your back, I bet a bunch more people do as well.
Don't let one bad hole cause you to give up your dream of qualifying for The Open. You played 17 holes at +1. Your driving is accurate and your wedges are precise. You have the support of your subscribers. Also, in my opinion, Dundonald Links should nickname the railway to the left of the 13th, Finch's Rail.
Amazing camera work and editing here, keep up the awesome work gyys! Perhaps controversially, I think you've made a great decision to not worry about competition golf, you quit for a reason, keep putting out the wonderful content we've been enjoying this year and if you feel up to it another time then go for it!!
The “tapping into lost hope” advice on the 18th tee really cemented the like here lol But in seriousness, I’m sure like many others (and yourself) we wanted to see you shoot under par. That one blowup hole on 7 speaks to me as I usually have one per 9. Hopefully you give it another go in the future, it was closer than the score indicates!
Go qualify!!! You shot that number with a bogey on a par 5 and a triple on the card! Fill the paperwork out, have some fun, go in with little expectations and leave pleasantly surprised!!
Go for it Pete. If I could get my handicap low enough to enter qualifiers, I'd do it. Imagine if you was walking off the 18th at Royal Liverpool during the open. Shaking hands with some of the greats. I'd play in the open and shoot 110 if I could. Just to say "I played in the open" you got this, I'm sure Michael Block had his doubts. Look what he did. 👍🏻
Go for it Pete! I believe in you 👊🏻 only 1 bad hole really which was slightly unlucky. And you had some good close putts…on another day 3-4 of those putts drop and it’s a different story and we are all smiling 😃
Oh man, absolutely gutted to see the result. One of the nicest guys on UA-cam and one of the more technically sound, just the stars can just never seem to align at the same time. Still believe the day will come🤞
Happy to see my man David in a video again! Feel like he hasny been around much since the 100 holes in a day when i meet you guys haha. Pretty quality golf besides one stinker of a hole as well, regardless of score
Go for it! golf is about the dream and not often the reality but there’s always a chance it could be, never stop stop dreaming be it breaking 100, not losing a ball, shooting par or better or qualifying for the open….
Pete - that was mostly spectacular golf. Putter was a just a bit cold. And of course one bad hole with some gnarly rough. Just enter the Open qualifier because you never know when you're going to have a great day.
If you don’t try you can’t make it. If you are thinking about it you have to go for it no regrets. If you don’t you’ll always wonder. Whether you shoot -10 or 10 over today that doesn’t matter. You should try to qualify and we will be rooting for you.
If you can give it a chance without it being to stressful or demanding, I think you should just send it! Everyone enjoyes the content and we're all rooting for you no matter what, but I obviously don't want you to feel awful about it. But the game is there, and in ten years you might be wondering what would've happened if you just entered in 2023. No matter what, inspirational round of golf. I feel like you did this round out on the course now, everything feels like it's in place but the ball just won't fall. But the low round is there, erase that one bad hole and get hot with the putter and you are competing, just be patient and play good golf and it will come. Hopefully in Open Qualifying, and if not some other time!
great vids, just subbed. thanks for reminding me why I don't play scratch golf anymore. it becomes annoying when you mess up just one hole, when you're actually playing good golf. just go out and enjoy it. beautiful course. the one saying I know use "golf is not a game of perfect"
Pete...absolutely awesome that you put yourself out there like that, however - don't give up on the dream of making the open just because of a couple of bad bounces.
Was at Dundonald a couple of weeks ago on a trip and got to play the course a couple of times that week. Really enjoyed it, but it's tough if you get in the rough. Well played and way to stick with the round after the triple bogey. Go for the Open qualifying regardless of the outcome. If you're playing well right now (and you are) you'll kick yourself if you skip it, and it's always good to get tournament rounds in.
Having played here not long after it opened as you stand on the first at 464 yards stroke 14 l said to my playing partner this is going to be interesting. Shot 73 and was very happy, my partner was plus 4 shot 82 rubbed him ever since. Good score and having played in the Open a few times your efforts to play are worth it, it is a great experience
Pete, talk to a sports counselor, I couldn't imagine trying to compete like you are, but it is only your head that stops you. You have ALL the skills to be on tour, just need to get your head in line, don't give up go out and GET IT!
Don't give up Pete. All it takes is a couple "on" days and your there! Just put in the same amount of preparation Rick does for his marathons and stuff and I think you'll be fine. 😉😂👍
Sorry, really thought I was subscribing.. Thanks for the notify, Im now a proud subscriber. Great video btw! Not finished yet, but so far a lot of great pars!
Absolutely you should…. Pete, you and I played together a few times back in the early 00’s with Lee Wood, at Brickhampton Court in Gloucestershire. I was a spotty teen then… I’m 99% sure it was 😂 Go for The Open, I will be in 2024!
I'm sad. I really expected you to do well, especially after the birdie on the 11th hole. Have been wanting to see your Quest for The Open continue. Heads up, there's always next year! 😄
@15:02 Greenskeeper here, guys please don’t repair divots like this. When you a take a divot you essentially “behead” the grass meaning you’ve cut the crop from the roots. It doesn’t grow back just turns brown and is replaced. Just use the sand spread it that’s all.
You absolutely have what it takes. Wear pink (the color shirt you wore when you had your hole-in-one). And just do it. You have the skill, you have the desire...do the job!
Peter, I have watched your videos for years and I have always wanted to ask you this question. When you are on the tee and you are about to take a swing with your Driver, you do a strange sort of squat and half backswing where you are sort of pulling the club down and shifting your weight. What is the feeling you are trying to get with this motion? You can see it at 5:43 but its a lot more pronounced in other videos.
Enter. Would love to see it. Honestly, you played brilliantly this round. As good as I've seen you play with what I would say was only two bad swings the whole round. One you paid for, one the golf Gods paid you back. And even with the triple you only needed a couple of those burnt edge putts to go your way and you'd have been +1 or even level.
Peter your a great golfer, just unlucky with a couple of bad bouncers, different day different story. Your a great golfer so you should just try, no harm in trying after all we all had those days, no looking back in years to come thinking coulda woulda shoulda. Great video
Peter you should definitely still go and enter the final qualifying. Your playing really good at the moment. Apart from one unlucky hole you played really well. And now you have the knowledge off the back Tees. Quest for the open one more time Pete. You got this 🏌️⛳
That members bounce of the railway was outstanding. On a separate note, the way you talk about pressure makes me think you need to see a sports phycologist to be able to cope with it. You should 100% go for the open regardless of this score.
I know you probably won’t Pete but I think I speak for most when I say pleaseeeee enter man! It’s a golfers dream to get to the open and your obviously good enough to do it it’s just having that good day!! Do it go on enter!!
Great round of golf Pete, you was unlucky to just have 1 disastrous hole..Think you should still give qualifying for the open ago with your current form..👍😀⛳️
Im disappointed Pete! You rattled off that many great teams and you left out Branston Pickle and cheese?!? Seriously though, great video, really nice to see you play so free and relaxed. It would be stellar to see you qualify for the Open. Definitely one more reason to watch the tournament mate! 🍻
Should Shane Lowry try for Olympic 100m? That's how far Finch is. He needs to give it up. The outcome is a foregone conclusion. It's not 1980 anymore, only high quality players can make it, and Pete is half decent club golfer standard, not a top amateur off +6. He just doesn't have two consecutive 65's in him.
I've been watching you for quite a few years now Pete and I think if you 'played seriously' for a while, without the distraction of filming content, you'd have the game to get through qualifying. Really go for the dream, or focus on your YT business? They must be mutually exclusive. So it's a choice. But either way you go, you'll be a winner 😊
I could feel the anxiety building up in me after each one of those chip shots and would've put money on you sinking that putt to save a 7 - rules of golf 😂 Would love to be anywhere near as good to consider open qualifying. I say go for it mate. 2 good rounds of golf and you're there 👍
Shoulda used the "famous toe", as Fredrick Lindblom once demonstrated to you, to get outta that deep rough on hole 7. Might have saved you a stroke or 2. But keep playing on. We've seen crazier things in golf. Don't give up. 🔥
Go for it Pete, one flukey bad hole and a bit of tidying up on some putts and you were there.. happens to the best and you ain't half bad.. don't think back in years ahead and have regrets..as my late Dad used to say . while you still can,do it.. best of luck
Pete, like you said: you've been playing well and the Open has been a dream for many years now for you, it doesn't matter if chances are 1 in 10 or 1 in a 1.000.000 any chance of getting your dream is worth it. @15:02 Greenskeeper here, guys please don’t repair divots like this. When you a take a divot you essentially “behead” the grass meaning you’ve cut the crop from the roots. It doesn’t grow back just turns brown and is replaced. Just use the sand spread it that’s all.
Do it - what have you got to lose, many of your subscribers would love the chance - so give it your best and be proud of your effort
Go for it Pete! You can do it!
We’ve all been there on hole 7 mate, at least you didn’t snap your club over your knee, I’ve personally learnt so much from your channel 😊
You got this 🏌️⛳
You’ve got to go for it, life isn’t a destination, but a journey
Go for it. You only had one bad hole. Your putting needs some work but go for it. Good luck!!
Pete we know you have it in you to rise to the challenge and become the ⭐️ you are! Just enter !
That members bounce of the railway was outstanding. On a separate note, the way you talk about pressure makes me think you need to see a sports phycologist to be able to cope with it. You should 100% go for the open regardless of this score.
Some of my favorite videos come from you Peter 🤙🏻
Really felt for you on that treble - go for it still
I know you probably won’t Pete but I think I speak for most when I say pleaseeeee enter man! It’s a golfers dream to get to the open and your obviously good enough to do it it’s just having that good day!! Do it go on enter!!
'"All I need is a bit of luck on this hole" after bouncing back off the railway tracks! Priceless...
Great round of golf Pete, you was unlucky to just have 1 disastrous hole..Think you should still give qualifying for the open ago with your current form..👍😀⛳️
Quality amazing Pete. I love your swing
Playing so well lately. And the train track bounce is one for the channel highlights reel 😂
Im disappointed Pete! You rattled off that many great teams and you left out Branston Pickle and cheese?!? Seriously though, great video, really nice to see you play so free and relaxed. It would be stellar to see you qualify for the Open. Definitely one more reason to watch the tournament mate! 🍻
Keep trying for the OPEN Pete! You don't want to regret not trying to get there!
Go for it regardless Pete! You’re playing so well! More regret if you don’t sign up!
Uneven lies everywhere. Love it!!
Chin up mate , wasn’t your day but you still hit some pure shots and we got to go for a round with you at a great track 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
I could feel the anxiety building up in me after each one of those chip shots and would've put money on you sinking that putt to save a 7 - rules of golf 😂
Would love to be anywhere near as good to consider open qualifying.
Loving the new graphics. Great video lads 👍
Go for it Pete, one flukey bad hole and a bit of tidying up on some putts and you were there.. happens to the best and you ain't half bad.. don't think back in years ahead and have regrets..as my late Dad used to say . while you still can,do it.. best of luck
