How to start a scooter with no battery and no kick start

- My two stroke Hyosung SF50 scooter has a stripped kick start gear and only starts using electric start so if I end up with a flat battery while riding - I'm basically stuffed. So what I came up with is a way to hand start the scooter by rotating the crankshaft quickly using a luggage strap. Works every time and super easy. As a matter of fast, it's probably even easier than kick starting it.
Thanks for watching.

You rock bro youre the only tutorial that can start the scooter like that ihave searched for months bro thank you youre a genius
Anytime bro
@@LifeExplosion but what if our scooter is hydro cooled??
@SkiLveR-dc1gv the cooling system runs off a pump that spins from the crankshaft just like in a Yamaha aerox scooter so water cooling makes no difference. As long as you spin the flywheel you generate electricity which makes spark and should start the scooter
Dude, that's really f****** cool, and it's really cool that you're showing people because a lot of people won't tell you the little tricks. In that way, you end up either selling it or scrapping it. Are just giving that away when it was something simple
Cheers bro. Glad it was able to help
Your really great !!! You should get a reward for this great idea can't believed it worked
Cheers! Glad it helped
Thanks so much bro it works for me aswell and im from south Africa thanks alot bro
Yeah bro! Thats awesome it worked on yours too. Enjoy rippin that scooter
Thx very much helped me start my quad
Awesome! Enjoy bro
@@LifeExplosion I will
You can also use an impact drill on that nut in the middle of the cooling fan to start it
yeah brez absoluetly
One only has to remember to turn this "fan" so far clockwise by hand, till one gets over the point of maximal compression (for your 2stroke it´s a moment coming-by at each full turn, for 4strokes it´s every 2nd turn, just after the 2nd stroke/begining of the 3rd stroke), cause it´s much easier to accelerate the engine by hand, if one pulls the rope when just beyond this point (it else feels like running against a wall and wasting your effort)... Else, one will need more force, will even eventually not work at all... When my old 4stroke wouldn´t start anymore by kickstart easily, I found out, that slowly turning the kickstart till I´m over this point/obstacle (then let the kickstart return to its initial position by the force of its spring, and THEN kick), made kickstarting much easier again. I guess, according to the theory, 2strokes are anyways much easier to start, so that a starter or even leg-kickstart is an overkill. Your engine is as small as a chainsaw-engine, and no chainsaw has a kickstart, they all start by pull-starter. It´s cheaper and lightweight.
Yeah this is true bro. On my dirt bike I always slowly kickstart the engine to get past the top dead center point then kick. Then again though a healthy engine should kickstart at just about any point of the rotation
@@LifeExplosion A girl or a smaller guy may have difficulties. Aside to that, the torque exerted while kickstarting is higher than the peak-torque of the running engine itself. So, I like to think, that I spare the crankhaft the extra stress. For an even longer healthy engine...
Thanks a lot for this
No sweat glad it helped
Nice video man . Sick scooter
hey thanks. Yeah its hilarious fun offroad.
Heck yeah 💯
holy crap!
Will this work on aprilia sr125/172
Yeah should work on just about any bike that has access to the Magneto side. Essentially you are doing exactly the same thing as turning the engine over from a Kickstart
Your tyre looks Awesome
Which model tyre is this??
Cheers bro. Its a Michelin Reggae dual sport tyre bought from Garage444 in Australia. I only ride the scooter offroad and on the dirt and it handles it really well.
will this with fi engines?
It should do. The ECU on a fuel injected engine runs off the main power from the wiring loom. And when you turn the flywheel which generates electricity from the magnetics in the stator it's putting electricity through the loom. Mine is a carb model so I can't test it but I think it would work.
Will this work with every moped
Yep should work on any 2-stroke or 4 stroke moped or scooter. Basically you are just rotating the crankshaft and making the piston go up and down and that's a fundamental on every engine. Provided you can get to the fan side of the crankshaft where the magneto is - like what I did
Champ.
Dis dude looks like an Ikea Mercenary.
Ha ha you know me too well
Will this work without a key and battery
Hey, it depends on the type of electrical system in your scooter. If the scooter uses DC then I'm 99% sure you do need the battery to complete the circuit. Mine is 12 volt DC and when I removed the battery I wasn't able to start at all. A 12 volt AC will start without the battery though as it only uses the battery for accessories but not for starting directly. You have to check the CDI to see if yours is a 12 volt AC or DC. As far as bypassing the key, you can do this with a paperclip or a piece of wire if you search for it on UA-cam. Or you can go GTA style and just hotwire if you can get to the wires behind the key :)
@@LifeExplosion alr thanks if this works big respect ❤️
@@juniorheadley9418 no worries bruh. Lemme know if u get stuck and cant figure it out
@@LifeExplosion thanks bro
@@LifeExplosion having trouble get this black thing roundbit
if this works on a watercooled 125, this will save me 100 euros not buying a starter pack
Js use kickstarter dumbass
You can also use a drill on the main bolt of the flywheel. Just be careful with your wrists when the bike does start. Also drill in correct rotation of crank etc
@@zavaleva no kickstart from factory
Didn't work for me
Make sure you are rotating the crank in the correct Direction. Rotating in Reverse won't do anything to damage rotating in reverse won't do anything to damage your bike but it won't fire the piston
@@LifeExplosion do you have instagram to send you a video of what I do
