    EDIT: Okay I guess I didn't make myself clear? I said if the Scar didn't exist, I would have put the M14 as the number 1 weapon, just because I didn't put a number for it doesn't mean I thought it wasn't good.

      Disagree with the Mosconi. I don’t really like how weak shotguns feel the second Heavy SWATs show up. I feel like i can never get that sweet onetap.
      M14 superiority (until infamy77) because it unlocks so early.

      @@GeneralMcBadass I think a major problem with saying the M14 "would be #1" is that it just wasn't made number 2 then...like, I understand that it is made less impactful due to its more powerful competitor, but the whole point of a numbered list is that the highest on the list is more competitive than the ones below it anyways. I think an easier way of wording it is "the best weapon from each weapon category" rather than "the best weapons by ranking". This makes the Bolt Action

    damage and hp values do not change per difficulty if you 1 shot on normal you 1 shot on overkill. suprised by the reinfield 900 being the honorable mention over the SA A144 which pretty much does its job better. armor pen is expalained by the units armor hardness 1.5 for most enemys( 2 for shields 4 for dozers) minus the weapons Armor pen value so 1.5 minus the VF7S 1.25 = .25 which will pierce through and do reduced damage to hp.       I did it that way because I technically gave the SA A144 the "honorable mention, but for number 1" lol. it's so good, but I feel like there's just no reason to use it when the VF-7S exists EDIT: does nobody actually watch the video and just scrolls through the chapters to see the rankings lol. I mentioned that the M14 would be #1 if not for the Scar

      Sorry but i have to correct you.
      Actually it's Armor pen value minus armor hardness (or armor thoughness) = % of damage that bypass the armor and goes to health directly.
      Also it's 0.5 for most enemies, 1.0 for shield and 2.5 for dozer.
      For the VF7S it would be 1.25 - 0.5= 0.75. So 75% of the damage directly to the health.
      And that make sense with that example :
      36.37dmg x 5(hs multiplier) x 0.75 = 136 damage to the health. It doesn't OS a 150HP normal or heavy swat
      But if we add edge dmg bonus : 36.37 x 5 x 0.75 x 1.1 = 150 damage to the health. It does now.
      25% would be not enough at all to one shot anything even with cutting shot that add a 0.1 to the armor penetration value.

    I have a personal problem with the reinfield 900.
    It's fun but besides road rage, it doesn't seem to have many heists that benefit from this play style. If body shoots at close range actually one hit, I would definitely see more reason in using it outside road rage.

      One shot body shot is too much imo, but it definitely needs better mods. Quick bolt, iron sites or other close range optics.

    As someone who mains M308 in PD2, I expected the A144 to be the best, but man the SCAR is exactly what I expect a battle rifle to feel like. Hard hitting, high recoil, marksman rifle with a full auto option. As a SCAR-H fanboy in games, I am happy with this.
    Such a shame that it's unlocked soooo late behind the garbage progression system but I ponied up the millions for the preset version and it's worth every penny.

      Oh just you wait until you get the full version. The weapon itself is not my cup of tea but having Mods to manage reload speed and recoil downsides makes it so much more bearable.

    With the big hipfire meta in this game is like to see them add laser sttztchments, but I’m not sure how that would work with the new and more realistic gun kick movement, cause in pd2 the guns didn’t move as much with shots so the laser stayed stable but now the gun model actually moves quite a bit so adding lasers might not work.

    Worth mentioning that the extended mag on the marksman rifle is a significant upgrade over its base. From to 12 bullets in the mag to 20. That puts it more in line with the scar as it allows you to skip cutting edge and take a full stealth build.

    I almost prefer taking the castigo over the bizon, like you pointed out the two are very closely balanced, but with the bizon being slightly better just because it doesn’t need cutting shot, but that’s the thing I always have cutting shot, it’s just that good for the primaries alone. Maybe if you’re running the sniper it’s better to not run cutting shot and use the bizon secondary, but personally I find the castigo to be more accurate, better recoil recovery speed, and overall just easier to use for quick close range kills which is what I need a secondary to be good at, so if I’m already running cutting shot in my build I almost always go for th castigo instead of the bizon.

      Yeah, I remember when I tried making the switch, only to see my reticle firing off left and right, and the spread taking forever to re-center. I prefer the vertical and quick recoil of the Castigo variants.

    mp7 is ridiculous strong to me, it can bodyshot kill and refund about 80 percent of ammo, meaning you dont need to aim at all to clear a corridor

    Honestly the only issue I have with the VF-7S is that it can't destory a dozers faceplate in 1 mag without the extended magazine. Due to having dozer faceplates seemingly having 850 health and no armour. While it has 36.37 damage (according to a guide I found online) meaning it takes 24 shots, or 22 with edge.
    I figured this out since from what I can find the SA A144 does 50 damage with 1.3 armour pen. While the Signature 40 also has 50 damage but has 0 armour pen. And they both take 17 shots to remove the faceplate (without edge).
    While by default the KU-59 can remove the dozer faceplate due to having a 30 round mag with 40.17 damage per shot. Yer it does more damage. It just has lower armour pen at 0.9.
    Also due to the faceplate having 0 armour this makes the Castigo better at removing dozer faceplates as it has more damage at 90 but less armour pen at 0.9 than the Bison with 65 damage and 1.25.
    Though all of this is apparently since well they don't show us numbers directly.
    Amusingly it seems that they designed the Red Fox with the dozers health and armour in mind. Since not only is it the only weapon that can piece dozer armour due to having 3 armour pen. But it apparently does 200 damage a shot. And due to dozers having 2.5 armour that reduces the damage by 50% leaving exactly 100 damage giving it a 2 shot. Though that also makes it hot garbage against the faceplate as it will take an entire mag to remove it.

    I disagree with the Mosconi 12 solely for my bias against it ingame. I can NEVER get it to onetap heavy swats in any scenario unless I’m kissing their helmets.
    I woulda put the M14 in its place because it’s already one of the best guns for how early you unlock it compared to so many of the other terrible weapons that come in between it and the SCAR

      Use the armour pen skill in sharpshooter skill tree, it makes it a one shot to the body.

    I think the fight between the Scar and the M14 is really just subjective. Both are phenomenal weapons, but some can be welded to different playstyles. I prefer the M14, but many prefer the scar.

    Really surprised the Mosconi to be in the number 2 spot. Saw a tier list video that explained ammo funnel was bugged, when you shoot the last bullet you have shoting it will force you to reload. Even though the counter says you have one round.
    Just saw number 1 spot. Another glitch is one of the silencers actually gives it a damage boost. Allowing it to one tap without edge.
    Edit: I re-watched the vid where I saw the info about the VF and misremembered. All it does is increase damage over distance. Sorry for the confusion.

    Massive fan of the SG Compact-7 personally; the big thing it has over the FIK is that it has the second-highest Armour Penetration value (the hidden stat that determines how much of the weapon's damage actually goes through to the enemy, rather than having to strip their Armour first), tied with the Bison and VF-7s (SCAR), the two current 'meta' picks and just a hair below the value of the SA A144/Reinfeld 900S, the DMR and Sniper Rifle - The SG, Bison, and VF have an AP stat of 1.25, while the Marksman pair have 1.30.
    I'll not delve into exactly what this stat means since it's rather confusing, but broadly speaking the higher the value, the 'better' the weapon is generally considered to be - weapons like the ZIV Commando, Signature .40 are generally bottom of the barrel, and it's largely because of their AP stat of *zero.*
    Alongside top-tier AP, the SG also has really good ammo pickup (~7-12 bullets per box; compare with Assault Rifles usually getting ~3-5 and the FIK getting ~6-9), extremely good hipfire spread, and you've got a really solid weapon! Its only big downside is its base damage - the SG deals just 24 damage at its optimal range of 0-25m, while the FIK deals 32 in its optimal 0-15m range.
    This is rounded out by the AP difference - 1.25 AP at 24 damage versus 0.75 AP at 32 damage means that (against anything except a Shield or Dozer, and assuming a body-shot) the SG will deal 18 Health damage, while the FIK will deal 8 - more than double the damage, and the SG does that better damage out to a longer range! Both of these are doubled if it's a headshot and within 35m, too. This makes the SG feel really good for just spraying people with body-shots, since while it doesn't rival the VF, Bison, SA, and their ilk in terms of one-shot headshots, it has the ammo economy and piercing capability to actually make body-shots *work*, though it very much appreciates an ammo-efficient secondary like the Bison or Castigo for the sake of bulking its reserves back up occasionally.
    This isn't to say the FIK is *bad*, mind you. That thing is the CAR-4 of SMGs - It can take essentially every attachment in the game, making it really customisable. But sadly, the stats the game gives us are basically lies; it has more base damage than the SG, but will in practice deal significantly less unless you're doing something that strips armour (for example: Flashbangs with Expose). Overall, I'd put the SG into an A-Tier (very solid, but not on par with the meta-defining weapons), and the FIK into a solid B-Tier (reliable and solid).

      I really like the variation between the 3 SMGs we have in the game rn, I hate the ziv but mostly because I don't know how to properly use it, I'll try to use SG with bodyshots because I didn't know it had higher armour pen before, awesome comment.

      @@antynomity Sadly, I can't think of a single use case for the ZIV.
      It's got worse damage and damage range than the FIK, very slightly better fire rate and ammo pickup than the SG, but *zero* armour penetration.
      The end result is that it takes 3 shots to shred a basic enemy's armour (whether hitting the head or not), then another 3 shots to kill them, assuming you're hitting the head from within 10m.
      6 shots at an absolute minimum is just not good! If we go for body shots instead we're talking about 9 shots to kill, and let's not forget this is only within 10m; the SG does less damage but out to 25m, and both do the same damage after their first increment - up to 30m for the ZIV and 45m for the SG.
      So for a good portion of the time, the ZIV is doing the same damage as the SG, except with zero AP!
      It's basically the worst of both worlds. I really hope it sees some balance improvements somewhere down the line.

    The biggest problem of all guns is buffs not activating and shots not connecting due to server lag. My favourite weapon is the ZIV + the SP11.

    I'm glad the AK is still a pretty strong choice in PD3, I remember I use to rock it in the early days of PD2. I still prefer it over the SCAR for the better rate of fire and mag size, but its manageable tradeoffs.

    I think the SAA144 is better than the VF-7S if you ads. It just feels easier to handle but if you go for hipfire build that doesn’t matter much. I think low damage weapons just aren’t as good in this game especially without crit and the fact that they don’t penetrate armor very well so it just takes more and more bullets to kill
    Also I think the SAA144 and VF-7S are both technically battle rifles although I’m not really too certain on all the differences between that and a marksman rifle

    My complaint with the rienfeld 900 is that if you shoot while scoped in it forces you out to chamber a new shot which is extremely disorienting, I wish they would change it

    I think the SAA is better than the VF-7S if you like aiming down sights more. From all I've seen, people mostly use it while hipfiring, something I just cant aim good with. Overall though, very good and informational video

    8:35 Castigo can also 1 shot an enemy with EDGE and Face to Face skill, however it also requires GRIT to work.

    What’s crazy is that with an good build both shotguns melt any on the Seinfeld 880 can 5 shot a dozer including the the face mask and since it can slam fire dozers are gone in seconds

    I just realized I completely forgot about secondaries HA. Both revolvers are godly bison is better but I prefer castigo with cutting shot

    I feel like saying just because you dont need cutting shot on the the Bison makes it better than the Castigo is a bit of a weak argument because if you're going loud (which I assume you are if you're using a revolver because they dont have silencers iirc) you want to nab that perk anyways. If the two revolvers have the same breakpoints (shots to kill on enemy types) with the perk I feel like they're functionally the same weapon at that point. That said I did prefer the Bison even before I knew about the hidden pen stat.
    As for the VF-7S I feel like the recoil is a little too out of control. I understand burst firing is more ideal for it and is how I use it. The reload taking so long is also pretty frustrating. Personally I prefer the SAA-144 or the KU-59 but I like the list overall.
    I do feel like the Reinfield 880 might be worth consideration because I feel like I've had fewer issues with it sustaining ammo than the double barrel.

      I almost exclusively hip fire and run with gunslingers hip fire skills (which kill Edge on ADS), so I almost never take Cutting shot. ADS feels bad to me. That's why the Bison is better

      @GeneralMcBadass I also prefer a hip fire build but kinda like the 2 point dip just for the pen but maybe I'm weird for that haha. I'm around level 80 (I think?) and have 18 skill points atm. Once I got around 14 I wasn't too sure what to put points in so I'm sure my build isn't necessarily optimized.

      it certainly requires a bit more playing around, but for most weapons I haven't felt like I needed an extra breakpoint, so I've opted not to take those skills so much as of yet. maybe some people will figure out that you'll need Cutting shot for certain setups

      Why would you 'always want Cutting Shot anyway'?
      +0.1 to your primary's AP isn't always useful, and it requires you to invest at least 2 points since it has the prerequisite of Sharpshooter.
      Bearing in mind that Sharpshooter is one of the worst Edge triggers as it requires you to stand still and not interact with anything for an extended period.
      *If you're taking Cutting Shot anyway* then you're correct; the Castigo and Bison are functionally identical. In fact, in that scenario I'd say the Castigo is *better*, as it seems to have a much more forgiving recoil and reload.
      But that 'If' is the critical part. Weapons like the VF-7S and SA A144 *don't* need Cutting Shot, so you need to spend 1-2 extra points to make the Castigo work compared to the Bison, eroding at their biggest benefit.
      Ultimately, I bring it down to this methodology: I look at the primary I want to use, and bring a secondary that compliments it. VF or SA? Bison; I can save some skill points. Something that needs Cutting Shot? Castigo, baby! Hell, if the weapon sucks against Dozers (like the Reinfeld 900S), I'll take the STRYK 7; that thing shreds them, since their faceplates seem to care more about the shots fired into it than the actual damage, and the STRYK has >30 shots to unload.

    When I played the game during the beta with limited skill points and weapon choices I thought the guns were really badly balanced, now after 110+ hours in the full game and 107 levels later I really feel like the guns are pretty damn well balanced for the most part, the only 'useless' or 'redundant' weapons I've used so far were the sig40, Ziv, and the Reinfeld 900S (at least the reinfeld is fun to use), I really hope they keeo up with the decent gun balance for at least a bit, I don't want to exclusively use DLC weapons in the future on any possible higher difficulties they may add.

      @@Unknown_Genius yeah I hope the 900S gets a cycling speed buff, alongside maybe a skill that further increases cycling on bolt, lever and pump action guns. The Ziv I'll keep trying out here and there since it's the only gun I couldn't make work yet in the game.
      The 880 is a tricky one, it is unreliable and you need a pretty sizeable damage buff to one hit heavies to the head, meaning that even then if you miss one or two pellets you won't one shot, the advantage of the 880 is that missing a one-shot is a lot less punishing than with the mosconi, especially with the reload bug in place.

    If you want purely the strongest weapons then the list would probably be 1) VF-7S 2) SA A144 3) KU-59 4) Reinfeld 880 5) Castigo 44 & Sforza Bison (because they are practically the same)
    Honorable mention to the SP Model 11 for being a 2 shot headshot secondary that you can throw a silencer on

      Mosconi shines with heavy SWAT headshots but is just too clunky feeling for me to want to use it over the 880

      @@Unknown_Genius The clunkiness comes from the forced reload whenever a shot fails to kill an enemy and the kill with the second gives back one shell with ammo funnel triggering a forced reload if you stop firing, all weapons do this but you can cancel the 880's reload animation.
      If the 880 isn't one shotting regular SWATs then you are doing something wrong because both guns output enough damage to reliably one shot regular SWATs even without edge, heavy SWATs is where the mosconi starts to become more favoured since it can one shot headshot them if enough pellets connect otherwise both guns take two body shots to kill one

    Honestly idk what it is about the Castigo, but on controller it just... "feels" nicer than the Bizon.
    I've been using the Tin Hammer Preset Castigo and that especially feels absolutely amazing, though console suffers a major issue of Aim Assist being insane fucking strong to the point where it's infuriating, so for all I know, that's what's making me feel the issue.

      My best guess is that the Bison has really strong horizontal recoil?
      It 'sways' in an extremely disruptive way between shots, basically. The Castigo, meanwhile, seems to have mostly vertical recoil, and not much of it either.
      Between those factors and the Castigo seeming to reload far faster, I find myself willing to invest the skill point to make it work more often than not.

    The only problem i have with the mosconi is that ammo funnel is buggy currently. If you shoot your second shot and kill you get 1 ammo back but you have to reload anyway with a buggy animation. If they fix this than mosconi will be my #1 weapon. Damn i loved it in payday 2 and i will love it here.

      Yeah I know but with the mosconi with only 2 shots in the barrel its really annoying. If first hit doesn't kill than you have to reload anyway and it not triggers the shorter animation when the character reloads one shell. (I think its faster). Very cool reload animation btw. So I mostly using the reinfeld 880. Still fun to play tho. And thanks for the tip i will check it out. :D

      I don't want to end up with another PAYDAY where 80% of the weapons are useless for a few years. Then to have them buffed to the point where you become a literal god in lower difficulties (such as overkill). Having enemy HP the same solves the previous balance issues

    The 900s sits in a weird spot, with the right builds you can massively amp the damage it deals, but there's no point because the only thing in the entire game that requires more than one bullet is a dozer, which is a 2 shot from the freely available ovk sniper anyway . (I believe you can amp the damage of the 900s to 3 shot dozers but, honestly it's not that fast or impressive)

    The weapons in general just don't feel good at all. Compare Payday 3's weapons to Payday 2 (the launch version, not current) and there is an insane difference in quality between the two. From the very beginning, Payday 2 weapons are very loud and punchy, owing to its Heat inspiration. Payday 3's weapons sound and feel like airsoft by comparison.

    From my experience grinding challenges in a bathroom:
    Mosconi is really cool but suffers too much from the "miss a headshot? get a full reload" penalty. The other shotty is just bad.
    The assault rifles, VF 7S is obviously the best since it can one shot headshot - you can clear rooms extremely fast with it. The KU feels pretty good too with its two shot headshot capacity and low recoil. The others are sub-par.
    The revolvers, castigo is better in my tests. Castigo two shots on body shots, bison three shots on body shots. Both get 3 bullets back from kills. You can chain kills more easily with the castigo and even recover ammo without even aiming for headshots. Since cops refuse to stand still when you shoot at them in this game, I feel like body shots are just way more reliable. The other handguns are all bad.
    The SA feels really good. The 900S is just... trash, I'm sorry to say. It fires way, wayyyy too slow. It relies on collaterals and you can't rely on collaterals so you can't rely on this gun. It can be interesting if you're going for a full stealth build but still want to be useful to your team by killing something every 1.5 seconds or however long it takes to reload. Because it doesn't need edge or anything. But imo you'll be better served by a better weapon with a hybrid build if you expect things to go south.
    The smgs... meh. ARs but worse. Too many bullets to kill. Although the compact 7 felt better than the other two, so I'd go for this one. The upside is the low recoil and hipfire capacity, but you do lose a ton of damage and at range they're a pain so nah, the VF 7S is still way better.
    That's it.

    When showing the different penetration of the revolvers on the testmap, even the damage numbers were off.
    Or how do those numbers-mod work?
    First revolver did more dmg but didnt oneshot, while bison did less but oneshot?

      Think of it like, one does more dmg overall but less dmg to armor. While the other while doing slightly less dmg, does more to armor. Even with the slightly less dmg it’s enough to one shot. Idk if I made any sense in my explanation tho.

    Why would you rank VF7S so high? Yeah it has good damage but horrible recoil, hipfire spread , spread in general and low magazine size/ammo pickup.

    Personally for me its the ku-59 thats the best its hard hitting has low recoil is stupid accurate and works well with my speed build yes my entire build is base off of speed and even thought o havent really tried overkill yet one thing i can say is that even thought i have one armor plate i still get downed the least even with players who have heavy armor i still get downed fairly rarely and even if i do ots usually either by Nader's dozers or snipers snipers are easy kf you just hide behind objects because for anybody whos struggling with them they actually cant hit you in the head they only focus on your body so if you hide behind and object where you can see them but they cant see you're body you can easily shoot em and deal with em and dozers are so rare and i can easily run away from them and naders are really only a problem if i get caught in smokes canister (what's in the canister?)

    There are only 5 guns in the game so it really doesn't matter. People say that Payday 2 had too many guns, and that some were too similar to others making some redundant. Guess what - that's real life. Payday 3 defenders think it's a more grounded take on payday, but they don't realize that Payday 2s variety was better and actually "realistic". If you were to grab 5 different 9mm handguns they would all be virtually identical in the way they function and perform; same with 12 gauge shotguns and any other firearms that share the same caliber, operation and platform. Most people would be hard pressed to find the difference between an M16 on semi auto and a random AR-15 that you buy at Texas gas stations. The only people who don't like variety are communists and hipsters.

    Achtuhallly, its neither an assault rifle or marksman rifle: its clearly based on the Scar-H which is in fact a battle rifle
    still dont understand why ppl dont use the real weapon names, I know the companies "have" to censor them most of the times but like it just confuses everyone when content creators refer them to the noname counterpart

    In my opinion the 900S doesnt even derserve to be mentioned. I mean yes it is a one shot machine but if you arent lining up collaterals it is just way to slow and also the range at which it kills in one shot isnt that good either. If it could decimate dozers like the snipers did in PD2 then it might have been a possible choice.
