I think his point is that you can't place expectations (ie. trust) on someone you can't control. you shouldn't be putting expectations on anyone but yourself. at the same time, you can't waste energy thinking about someone you don't trust. don't spend time thinking about anyone(it does no good). just keep yourself busy with your own life and have that person be a part of your life, rather than you trying to be a part of their life
