    If it's a registered medical device do you take Medicare or came you send a statement

      Hi Beth, that would be a question better asked to those who are responsible for writing medicare policies. Keep in mind, Medicare is insurance. Insurers classify what is and isn't covered in their policies. For example, with Medicare, some oxygen concentrators may be covered, while others aren't - even though they may all be classified as oxygen concentrators. The same applies to wheelchairs. In order to call a product a wheelchair in the USA, the device MUST be registered with the FDA for safety and precautionary reasons. Could you imagine purchasing a device being called a wheelchair that has not been evaluated and safety tested to meet the FDA medical device standards? It's a risk. That stated, insurers get to pick and choose which devices are and aren't covered, along with the specific terms of acquiring medical devices that are covered. We hope this helps to clarify!
