I am a native Texan who lives in VA and I love my tomatillos. I have a small patch which is enough to make fresh enchiladas verde sauce in the summer and freeze some as well which gets me through the winter. Since they self seed I didn’t even replant the 2nd year and got plenty.
This was my first year of vegetable gardening. Already I have decided to no longer plant purple basil. It is beautiful while it is growing, but the promised "tastes like Genovese Basil" was not my experience. Plus, basil takes a boatload of water here in very hot central Kansas. I'm going to stick with Genovese Basil in the future.
I grew tomatillos for two years and tried the Ball salsa and I realized, "Why am I planting these, I hate tomatillos?" I also will never grow the long green beans again, no great taste. Georgia Candy Roaster & Zucchino rampicante are other veggies I will never grow again. We didn't enjoy the taste and we need the space for other veggies we do like.
I agree with Tomatillos, I decided to stop growing them for this season coming up. They take up alot of space, look like a giant weed and like you have mentioned, they are time consuming and not fun to harvest. Thanks for sharing.
I don't think I'll never NOT grow okra, lol! But it's the one garden veggie I grew up on. It's a staple in my garden, but I know it's not for everyone.

I agree with you on the purple basil. Very pretty but flavor definitely not there.

Rutabaga.
Wont do ground cherries again, just not a fan of the flavor
I like the safe canning salsa verde recipe I have tried, but I won't grow okra again.

Turnips are a never again for us. We just didn't like them.
I've actually never tried turnips, but they are very popular here in the South!
