Kristen's reaction when Michael pops himself in the hand was the best reaction of this episode, along with John's blank stare when he kisses the glass windshield. Great season, everyone! Looking forward to season SIX!!
to answer Michael's confusion: Jor-el calling Fine the Brain Interactive Construct definitely and finally confirmed he is Brainiac. . is why this is an "interesting thing of note"
Don't worry, Michael. You still have 2 more seasons of having no idea what your character or the show is about. ❤️ But I love the Phantom Zone "mirror" effect. And amazing how Michael completely honed in on Zod.
First off Michael Tom Ryan Bryce Thank You so Much this it was a Big Honor being The Guest of The Season 5 Finale Much Love and Respect Forever! Clark meet's Zod! Phenomenal Acting all around! "Remember Folks always hold on to Smallville" 🌹🌹🌹💙❤️🤘
That cliffhanger was the crazy! I remember when it first came out and I was like “oh damn! We can’t wait months to see what happens next!” It was a great finale to a great season!
Zod is finally here!!! Thank you so much guys for an amazing season 5 of Talk Ville!!! ❤ Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and happy holidays! Happy Talk Ville Wednesday ❤
Congratulations on completing the super stellar fifth season of Smallville! Glad all the guys rounded this fantastic season up with a full bouquet of 12 Roses! "Vessel" is a sensational season finale, and it totally deserves the highest rating! The episode brings the season premiere back into a complete circle since Clark finally does get imprisoned in the Phantom Zone! James Marshall is definitely in the Top Ten of Best Directors! Tom slayed it with a masterful performance and looked beyond handsome throughout! Every look from Tom is absolute perfection in absolutely amazing and unforgettable scenes with Chloe, Jor-El, Lana, Fine & Lex/Zod! The very first scene with Clark in the barn is one of MY FAVORITES, and the double eye blink after Zod introduces himself is phenomenal! "I don't know how I could have ever loved you." is one of the most heartbreaking lines from the show, and "Sacrifice The Vessel" is one of the greatest lines ever delivered! This episode got promoted with the question: "Will the hunk of steel make a sacrifice to save his beloved Smallville?", so the anxiety is real! Thank you for five awesome seasons of TALK VILLE! Congratulations To Charlie T!
Michael, you did a great job as Zod. The one thing I love is when you turned and looked at Clark, half circled him and then went up a step just to look down at him. That was incredible and showed how mentally empowered the character is. 😎💥👍
This episode was definitely eventful and there were some really good dramatic scenes, I’m really looking forward to Season 6 and thanks for everything you do🤩
Great finale and acting all around! Loved the Lex and Clark scene in the barn! Thanks Talkville! I'll miss you until the next year, and Happy Holidays to all of you!
What an ending to season 5! We have a to be continued & cliffhanger....thankgoodness I can watch the next episode right away lol looking forward to season 6! Let's go! 🙌♥️
Great episode, great finale, great acting by Tom and Michael. The whole cast was fantastic. The scene in the barn when Clark reveals to Lionel that Zod has taken Lex's body and that he may be forced to kill him is great to say the least. Furthermore, the scene of Chloe kissing Clark with the fear of never seeing the love of her life, her best friend and her hero again is wonderful, iconic and touching. I like to close this Season with a phrase that seems more than appropriate to me: "The hero must always win, the villain must win only once". Thank you so much Tom, Michael, Ryan and all the guys working at Talk Ville for another great Season both Smallville and Talk Ville spent together, you all are great. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025 to you all and to your loved ones❤❤❤. See you in the new year. Much love and gratitude. Also I wish a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all Smallville lovers and their families.❤️❤️❤️
This was one of my favourite episodes of Smallville and Micheal really killed the role as zod and lex at the same time. He really is an amazing actor alongside Tom.
Michael did such a great job playing Zod. The way that he did the switch in personalities from Lex to Zod was so well done. He definitely should wear the long black jacket on the season 6 edition of this podcast. I enjoyed the two Superman references the music playing while Clark is in the phantom zone was Superman 2 music. I also Clark looking at the phone booth at the Daily Planet. The scene were Lex was taken was so well done. The fight between Lex and Clark was so well done. The car catch with one hand so well done.
I don't remember if it is ever explained in the show itself, but I believe the reason that Lionel survived that smash into the car windshield from so far away was because at this time he is the Emissary of Jor-El. So, yeah, I can see it giving him a small measure of increased durability and healing so that he could survive that when no normal human would have.
I'd missed this one back in the day. Michael, I knew you were the definitive modem Lex; I did not realize you were the definitive modem Zod. *Let's go Season 6!*
Awesome to hear that Tom drew inspiration form "The Hero's Journey" - great read on so many levels! Great season guys - looking forward to the next one. :)
I remember seeing this for the first time and being shocked that Lionel not only didn't end going through that windshield but survived that Kryptonian pimpslap lol.
Happy season 5 finale day! What a finale! Amazing episode! Clark having to choose between the world and his former best friend! This finale showed Clark his actions do have consequences as sparing Lex (he was in position to kill him) he ended up releasing Zod!!
One of the craziest cliff hangers I ever watched on any show! When I watched this for the first time back in the day, I was so hyped up! Blew my mind and still does today! I was dying of waiting for season 6 to start! Lol Season 6 is my 2nd favorite season! Can’t wait! Love the podcast guys! ( FYI: 1st favorite is season 4. Not sure why it gets so much hate lol)
The arrival of Zod! I remember Michael always mentioning that he thought he was going to get paid double for playing Zod, but he was told no. Such an incredible season finale.
Also props to Michael and Tom for the showdown as “super strong aliens” we have been waiting for! It was amazing o watch you act and fight it out! ( even though once again Lex ends up forgetting about this)!
Lionel is thrown with such a force that he flies through that 75 yards in around a single second, which amounts to something like 150 miles per hour. This is the speed you reach just before hitting the ground if you dive head first from a height of around 250 meters, or around 270 yards. It's obviously plausible that a human could survive that crash ^^
This has been an EPIC season, guys. Thank you so much! The cast is one of the best that’s ever been on television, I’d like to take a moment and personally shout out Allison Mack, Chloe was such a fun character who added so much depth to the show. Smallville wouldn’t have been the same without her.
Great podcast guys!! Three roses for y'all also!! Glad to see everybody focused on the episode and keeping up with the details. Vessel is part of the best of Smallville with great writing, cast performances, incredible action scenes and always emphasis on character. One thing I hope you guys will remember is that Smallville had a long season with many episodes and it was not possible to do this in every episode but even in the lesser episodes there are many good things going on. Also what fans like about a show will vary almost to the individual fan. Some things that you may not like yourself will be fabulous for someone else. Smallville was done for a wide ranging audience and obviously to do that for ten seasons they were basically doing it very well. Please be patient with episodes you don't like because there are going to be fans out there who love the same thing you hate. A lot to say but Smallville is worth doing a rewatch podcast. We love it and we appreciate you guys!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
FYI everyone Smallville is on Hulu right now so for the first time in my life I can watch it in my garage or in the kitchen without needing a DVD player.
Just watched this finale a day ago in preparation for the Talkville episode. And felt the same excitement as I had seeing it all those years ago. Such an epic finale. To Lex being taken by Brainiac, to returning with powers, facing off with Clark and being possessed by Zod. Up until to final chaos in the streets and final shots of Lex/Zod and Lana on roof of Luthorcorp. As well as Clark spinning in imprisonment in the Phantom Zone. Just kept you wanting more. Brillant finale.😀🙏🙏❤❤❤❤
Vessel closes the season in apotheosis, fantastic scenes and acting 💯💥 !! Michael you are extraordinary 👍💘 !! Amazing and interesting TalkVlille 💛💛👏👏👏 !!
exactly, the craft isn't controlling Fine, the craft is a being and Fine is a part of that being so when Clark threw the dagger at Fine, that allowed him to open up the portal
@@Costas22 I think there it was more like a security thing since Fine couldn't physically interact with the Fortress console since only Clark could but because Fine knew what Clark would do, he knew he would get the dagger from the console and it was a way for him to bypass the security
@@willh1655 True. My point is that by all rights the Fortress was damaged as soon as that happened and yet it's only revealed AFTER Zod is released. Jor-El has no problem communicating with Clark in Reckoning or at the start of Vessel and the Fortress seems fine until that point. Not the first time there will be inconsistencies in regards to how the Fortress works.
Smallville sure knows how to do a season finale! Now that’s how you wrap up a season. Smallville is one of those shows like Supernatural that knows how to do a season opener and a season finale. IMO. 3 roses 🌹 for me this finale. It makes sense in a way why Lex is the “Vessel.” Fine saying he was “preparing,” him was eerie. Zod is a dangerous person as we all know and Lex does have a darkness in him. Fine knew this which is why he chose Lex to be Zod’s “vessel.” As Jor-El tells Clark Zod plans on destroying Earth just as he did Krypton. Lana is stuck in the middle of all this and it bugs me. She has no idea what she’s getting into herself into. She will find out about Clark’s powers next season and then she finally realizes why he had to let her go. Lana coming to Chloe telling her about Lex and then later overhearing her and Clark talking made no sense. I didn’t like that Lana eavesdropped on their conversation. Seems like she is a Luthor after all. Being a bit sneaky isn’t she? Lex realizing he has powers was done very well I thought. Lex sharing his new powers with Lana and her initial reaction was one of fear. Which is precisely the reason Clark keep his identity a secret. Lana warning Lex about Clark wanting to kill him shows that she is committed to Lex for the time being anyways. I loved the Clark and Lex showdown in the barn and the Clark vs Zod showdown as well. Milton Fine’s scenes were also amazing. Lana telling Clark “I can’t believe I ever loved you,” was pure hurt and anger. It’s like what Martha said in 5x16 “Hypnotic,” “I hope her hatred doesn’t force her to do something we will all regret.” It’s my personal belief Lana still loves Clark. Just my opinion. Lionel also said how Lana is a big part of Lex’s life now and I liked how he warned Clark that Lex having powers is deadly for the whole world as he wasn’t raised like Clark. Clark choosing not to kill Lex shows that Clark still believes Lex can change. Lex freely admitted that he wanted everything Clark had. Love how Clark said maybe Jor-El this whole time was protecting everyone all along. Especially Clark. He is after all at this point the last survivor of Krypton. Loved the scene where Clark saves Chloe from the car smashing through the window. Amazing affect. As a massive Chloe fan I loved it when they kissed! It was the first time they both kissed without being infected with something. Chloe still loves him and just once wanted to do that. Clark at first looked concerned when she said he had to leave. It’s like Clark didn’t want to leave Chloe behind as she didn’t have powers to protect herself like he has. I also love how Chloe stroked his face a bit before he answered the telephone. It was such an amazing 🤩 scene. Chloe for me was the breath of fresh air with all the “Lana,” drama. Sorry Lana but Chloe will always remain faithful to Clark. Clark feels more at ease around Chloe. He always has. Lana knows it. Deep down. It’s my personal belief that Chloe’s kiss meant something more to Clark. That scene left the audience wondering if there was going to be a Clark and Chloe pair up. I was so welcoming of seeing as how the whole Clark and Lana on again off again stuff was just old. The scene where Lionel gets tossed by Lex at the car was such a great stunt as was all the effects this episode. Amazing work from the crew to pull it off. Lionel is trying to take Johnathon’s place. Obviously. Like calling Clark “son,” and trying to “shmooze,” his way in with Martha. Martha is attracted Lionel IMO which is why she spilled the water in the beginning of the episode. I love how Lionel gets closer to her as he’s wiping up the spill. Nice touch. John nails it every time. So does Annette. Lois and Martha in the plane ✈️ and Milton Fine being the Pilot was also a cliffhanger as was Chloe and Lionel getting attacked and then Clark being sent to the Phantom Zone with the “to be continued.” Mentioned afterwards. Oh so nerve racking! I remember back in the day we as fans had to wait 3 agonizing months for the new season to premiere. This was the same year 2005-2006 that Supernatural aired its first season and it to ended in a Cliffhanger for season 1 and we the fans were like “aww you gotta be kidding me? Don’t end it like that. Now we have to wait 3 months.” Anyone remember doing that? I do. This finale set the stage for season 6. My favorite season. New characters like Jimmy Olson and of course Oliver Queen/Justin Hartley and the establishing of the Justice League. It’s really him who sort of pulls Clark from the shadows and into the “Justice League,” and respecting him and his abilities knowing that Clark is needed in the fight for humanity. Also season 6 really heavily hints at a possible Clark and Chloe pair up Michael and Tom. So stay tuned. I do hope Bryce and Ryan pick up on that but they’re probably going to be more Clark and Chloe are better as friends nothing more but I urge you all to really open your mind on that one. Especially 6x1 “Zod,” my favorite episode.
This episode was so gnarly. I remember watching this finale with a bunch of friends and we were all freaking out over Lex being Zod. I remember the agony of waiting for the next season to start and spending the entire summer trying to figure out what will happen.
"Vessel" 2.5 🌹 Although I had minor issues with the pacing of this episode, it still ticked all the boxes that kept you on edge. The action scenes were well done and the best scene of them all was Clark and Lex showdown. Lex consumed by the powers he was given was almost goading Clark to the point he was revealing his hostility towards him and that desire to have "everything he had". That was intense. Lex may have lost his memory after this but leaves Clark with more resentment against him. Interesting that the guilt-ridden Lionel can see why Braniac would choose Lex to be Zod's Vessel as his son fits the criteria for the embodiment of evil and is telling Clark to be wary of the hard truth about his ex-best friend. Great ending to what is my favourite season and the fun just continues into Season 6.
I don't think Lex would have been different if he knew Clarke's secret from the jump because Lex version or methods of saving the world is very different from Clarke's. Don't forget, Lex discovers, imprisons and experiment on meteor freaks in his quest to do good for the world

My favorite scene was Clark saving Chloe from the car crashing through the window, fantastic effect! Always love seeing Marsters on screen! Really enjoyed seeing "Lex" with powers for a change, especially during the fight in the barn (Tom and Michael did a phenomenal job)! The scene with Clark and Lana at the mansion really hit hard, Tom and Kristin did a lovely job. Very chaotic and twisted ending. Thank you guys so much for another season ❤️
That Chlark kiss was something, lol. The car catch and the kiss that followed was the high point of the episode after a season of Clark and Chloe growing close. It makes you wonder "Why aren't they dating already?". And of course Al and Miles ruined it by bringing Jimmy onboard... On a closing note for this season, props to Allison Mack. Criminal records aside, her portrayal of Chloe is really the saving grace of season 5. She's Clark's main rock and the only one with common sense. And, as I may have sad before, Allison looked gorgeous as Chloe this season, from the hair to her clothing.
Totally agree! Alison Mack killed it! I think they don’t date because their friendship is so crisp that it would be a shame to risk ruining such an amazing bond. So I thought the kiss was absolutely perfect for a one time thing just in case the world indeed ended. I think they both appreciated eachother so much at this point to not be weird. Man that car catch scene wasn’t in Ryan’s favorite scenes?! Wtf?! lol So Epic!
@@Spidyfish22 The car save is 100% the best action scene in the movie. The only one that feels badasss. The rest of them were just random people fighting or Clark and Lex throwing each other around once. Looking back now, I would agree that Clark and Chloe were too close as friends at that point, but man would have I prefered an adult Chlark romance in Season 6 over Chloe/JImmy and Clark going after Lana again...
@@Costas22 haha I agree, but I think they needed an excuse to get Chloe a happier ending, so that she’s not desperately lonely lol As for Clark, I think Chloe’s friendship is the perfect set up for Lois when you think about it! Because Clark enjoys the reporting friendship with Chloe so much, that it seems like it’s what made him fall more in love with Lois later on. I think Clark felt some familiarity and wanted to take a bigger leap with a romantic relationship with Lois! And it’s even more perfect that Chloe and Lois are cousins lol Gives Lois an excuse to more around the Dailey planet with Clark. Uhg, you can’t find better writing in my opinion 😂
I just finished the series once again, I really would love to have the show back. Seeing Tom run at the screen with the superman logo and theme at the end was epic and gets me everytime. PLEASE BRING IT BACK
Great Season Finale!!! I loved the Super Powered Lex vs Clark confrontation before Lex gets possessed by Zod and i love the cliffhanger to make this one of the rare 3 parters in the show!!
This was my first ever episode! It was on in the background whilst I did other stuff and by the end of the episode I was totally hooked and promptly got Seasons 1-4 on DVD. Ever since then Smallville has been my favourite show ever!
This podcast overall is terrific. So glad they are doing it. I have not watched Smallville in many years, so I love all the memories that come back as the are recapping the episode. I hope Michael is ready, as next season there are some fire episodes.
Man this show had too many Zods xD Still, the more villainous and megalomaniacal Rosenbaum demonstrates to me that having Lex start out as a good guy might have been a mistake. Don't get me wrong, I did like the dynamic of future enemies as friends, but evil Rosenbaum is completely next level stuff. I think Lex should've been more evil from the get go ^^
Like Al said last week Season 6 is when the training wheels come off Becomes more adult oriented and Metropolis centered This recap has made me want to rewatch a particular episode again for the first time in a while Since I've seen the entire show through 3 times already
This question of whether Lex would be good or bad always makes me laugh. Do I think things would be different yes, but anytime Lex found out about his powers. Even an onyx he says did you ever think about how much we could accomplish together. He also always says that they would be god’s among men. Lex was raised no matter what to receive power even in Lexxus. He decides to take power over love. Circumstances would’ve changed, but sooner or later Lex would still become a villain.
At first Vessel blew me away and I loved it as much as the guys. Over time, I found it a really uneven finale, just like S5 was uneven. Vessel was more eventful than Exodus and Covenant, but it lacked their coherent storytelling. It also lacked Commencement's epic scale. The positives were Clark and Chloe's chemistry (once again, the strongest relationship of S5), Lionel in his new role, Zod's arrival and the season ending with some really awesome cliffhangers. The main negative is once again Clark's characterization and how he lies even though he could prevent a lot of harm (especially to Lex). And of course once again he gets chewed out by Lana and Lex. The season ends the way it started: With Clark making a dumb decision. At least the season was consistent in that regard. And Clark ending the season trapped in the Phantom Zone was a poetic ending, really... P.S. Apparently Brainiac infected the FOS's console in Solitude and that's why coming in contact with the knife released Zod. By season 5 the writing was becoming too sloppy to explain stuff like that.
thank you for explaining the crystal! I kept thinking I missed something lol cuz it made no sense why "killing" Brainiac would release Zod's spirit 🤔 I agree this season wasn't the strongest season finale. compared to the last 4, it felt enclosed/smaller where the others felt pretty epic. and the story editing was not as tight as a typical Marshall ep. just like the last 5-7 eps, it's like they shot and edited all the plots separately and slapped them together 🤷♀️ but now I get what you meant at the beginning of the podcast season, about Clark's characterization and tbh most of the season feels like an after thought. the first half was amazing and excellent production quality. and I was pretty thrown watch Clark's face not only did he stick to his guns he literally didn't even kno what lies to tell 🤦♀️ and worse, they don't reference all his bad choices to connect to his character growth so it's like all this was for nothing 🤦♀️ lol well, at least Clark does majorly grow, but you'd really never know it from this lol
@@asyouwish3636 I was about to respond to your comment about the Brain Interactive Construct that the guys kind of phoned this Talkville in (actually it feels like they've phoned it in for the last few weeks now). They just lauded the episode superficially and didn't pay attention to some details. Case in point, the Jor-El/Clark scene FINALLY gives us the term Brainiac and it went over their heads. Or they didn't pay attention to plotholes, like Zod's release. To be honest, I don't remember where I heard the explanation. I think it was either a fan theory or one of the producers explained it in an interview or something. As the episode unfolds, it's completely random and it makes you scratch your head. Why would the dagger that Jor-El gives to Clark serve as a conduit to release Zod? The only thing that makes sense is that Brainiac infected the console when he was impaled by it in Solitude. And it also explains why the FOS is damaged next season. For me it's the kind of plothole that brings down an episode, especially a season finale. Regarding the season finale, it's exactly what you mentioned! It felt smaller even though it ended with the whole world seemingly in peril. Commencement felt bigger and I think it's because the meteor shower was made to look more devastating. They did exterior shots, the meteors looked more relastic, the craters were breathtaking... In Vessel we had 80s footage from riots, a mass brawl breaking out in the one street set they have and phony CGI at the end. It looked cheaper. I actually liked Phantom as a season finale more because it wasn't pretentious. Its dangers (the car bomb, the dam break) were much smaller in scale, but they were captured much better! Vessel was the first season finale without direct involvement from Al, Miles and Beeman and it shows, IMO. Lastly, yeah, just a frustrating season for Clark. One costly decision after the other. It's why I often ask people why they think season 5 is the best. It's the most adult season, yes. And it's also the most canon-centric season. But if you like Superman for his values, I don't know how you can find this season as the best. Just that annoying blank stare when people chew him out for lying gets on my nerves...
@Costas22 YESSS agree! like, i HATE the Lex/Lana storyline in S6, but overall it is a better season, as a whole, than S5. yeah I feel like they've been rushing thru the past 5-10 podcasts, like they stopped caring about details maybe - which is the whole point of a re-watch series lol and they haven't had as many guests as compared to other seasons. IDK if they are doing more cons this year compared to last ? but hopefully next season they will be more refreshed. I mean, when Tom is missing half the salient details, you know something isn't right lol
@@asyouwish3636 It mirrors the show a bit, lol. As Smallville loses its spark and becomes more robotic, so does Talkville. In regards to the guests, it's what's disappointed me the most. It started last season when Jensen Ackles never appeared. This season Erica and Kristin appeared once I think, but Schneider never did. On his last season, which really rubbed me the wrong way. I get why Al and Miles are hard to invite back due to their work elsewhere, but the actors have made time for the show when they've been invited.
It is more that Fine set things up because while other Kryptonians are killers, he knows that's not Clark so he knew Clark would throw the dagger at who HE wanted it to be thrown at, remember Fine is very smart and strategic basically like an advanced computer system, that's why Jor-El warns that the black ship is actually Fine because the ship itself is the Brain InterActive Construct I will say at least 1 thing, Michael's theories on how the 6th season premiere resolves stuff, you aren't even close there. Michael butchered what Jor-El said about Fine Clark: Fine has returned to release Zod. What am I supposed to do? Jor-El: Fine is merely an extension of the craft, that can regenerate in any form. Clark: If Fine is part of the ship, then who's controlling it? Jor-El: It's not just a ship. It's the Brain InterActive Construct, an advanced technology that will stop at nothing until its master, Zod, has been released. Clark: No, there's got to be some way to stop him. Jor-El: There is one way, Zod was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone for crimes that led to the destruction of our planet" Clark: Zod killed you Jor-El: and your Mother and our entire race, just as he will do on Earth. Clark: I won't let that happen Jor-El: Zod's physical body was destroyed to prevent him from escaping the Phantom Zone, he can be freed if he finds a body - a vessel to inhabit. Jor-El said that Fine was just merely an extension of the craft that can regenerate in any form and that the craft is the Brain InterActive Construct so the craft wasn't controlling Fine but merely Fine was the craft. Nope, when Lex found out Clark's secret, that was just the end for you, Michael since the show still went on for another 3 seasons.
But I love the Phantom Zone "mirror" effect. And amazing how Michael completely honed in on Zod.

Congratulations on completing the super stellar fifth season of Smallville! Glad all the guys rounded this fantastic season up with a full bouquet of 12 Roses! The episode brings the season premiere back into a complete circle since Clark finally does get imprisoned in the Phantom Zone! James Marshall is definitely in the Top Ten of Best Directors!
Tom slayed it with a masterful performance and looked beyond handsome throughout!
Thank you guys for another awesome season… ❤ Season 6 here we come!!!
Another awesome podcast- great fan guest- great episode 🌹🌹🌹 enjoy your holidays ! Can’t wait for season 6
Let's goo!!! :D
I really thought Lionel died when he hit that windshield.
Great season of Talkville
thanks buddy appreciate ya
I remember seeing this for the first time and being shocked that Lionel not only didn't end going through that windshield but survived that Kryptonian pimpslap lol.
This was such an epic season finale! Clark vs Lex on this level was epic to me.
In comes the Dark Thursday event, as it was called.
Happy season 5 finale day! What a finale! Amazing episode! Clark having to choose between the world and his former best friend! This finale showed Clark his actions do have consequences as sparing Lex (he was in position to kill him) he ended up releasing Zod!!
Clark spent an entire season supposedly learning that his actions have consequences. And he still released Zod...
Guys so glad you’ve been doing this. Season 5 ending was wow! I didn’t expect Zod to become Alex at first. Just glad Clark was able to save the day
One of the craziest cliff hangers I ever watched on any show! When I watched this for the first time back in the day, I was so hyped up! Blew my mind and still does today! I was dying of waiting for season 6 to start! Lol
Season 6 is my 2nd favorite season!
😉
This has been an EPIC season, guys. Thank you so much!
The cast is one of the best that’s ever been on television, I’d like to take a moment and personally shout out Allison Mack, Chloe was such a fun character who added so much depth to the show. Smallville wouldn’t have been the same without her.
I agree, one of the best actors ever 👍
Agree agree agree 100%
It's on Amazon Prime Video as well. That's where I'm watching it... Again
🤯 Awesome Thanks the heads up I just checked that's amazing 💙❤️🤘
Just watched this finale a day ago in preparation for the Talkville episode. And felt the same excitement as I had seeing it all those years ago. Such an epic finale. To Lex being taken by Brainiac, to returning with powers, facing off with Clark and being possessed by Zod. Up until to final chaos in the streets and final shots of Lex/Zod and Lana on roof of Luthorcorp. As well as Clark spinning in imprisonment in the Phantom Zone. Just kept you wanting more. Brillant finale.😀🙏🙏❤❤❤❤
The Clark/Lex scene in this episode is my favorite Smallville ever.
Vessel closes the season in apotheosis, fantastic scenes and acting 💯💥 !! Michael you are extraordinary 👍💘 !! Amazing and interesting TalkVlille 💛💛👏👏👏 !!
Milton Fine is Brainiac. Brainiac is a Kryptonian supercomputer. When the Kryptonian crystal dagger touches fine it gives him access to the fortress.
exactly, the craft isn't controlling Fine, the craft is a being and Fine is a part of that being so when Clark threw the dagger at Fine, that allowed him to open up the portal
Which should have happened in episode 5.08 when Fine was impaled at the Fortress. Something conveniently forgotten until now...
@@Costas22 I think there it was more like a security thing since Fine couldn't physically interact with the Fortress console since only Clark could but because Fine knew what Clark would do, he knew he would get the dagger from the console and it was a way for him to bypass the security
@@Costas22 Fine wanted to trick Clark into releasing Zod and or use Clark as the vessel which didn't work. "Lex" had to be prepped first.
I love you guys, thank you so much, happy holidays!!
Great Summary! Looking forward for season 6 ❤
Yeah you said it best bud.
Chloe was amazing ❤
I'm a huge fan of smallvile wish they could carried on with the series and I absolutely love you all
The computer screen was not the only matrix rip off, Lex's trench coat was also.
49:13 Thanks Tom 💙❤️🤘
Kneel before Zod. Fantastic episode! I absolutely love the snorricam shot!
This episode was so gnarly. I remember watching this finale with a bunch of friends and we were all freaking out over Lex being Zod. I remember the agony of waiting for the next season to start and spending the entire summer trying to figure out what will happen.
Wednesday is now my Favorite day of the week although love ya TOM
Extra 🔥 to był świetny odcinek 😁👍👋
It was after this that i was watching the show religiously season 6 onwards and I loved everything except season 😂
Except season what? Which season?!
Vessel was a masterpiece!!! Michael was a perfect Zod!! Tom was wonderful!! 3 roses for me
"Vessel"
2.5 🌹
Although I had minor issues with the pacing of this episode, it still ticked all the boxes that kept you on edge.
Don't forget, Lex discovers, imprisons and experiment on meteor freaks in his quest to do good for the world
Merry Christmas and New Year to everyone, great season. Can’t wait for season six 🎉

Barn scene was Epic!!!!
I don't get how everyone is suddenly rioting just because the lights went out. That doesn't happen when there's a power failure.
29:58 Michael is my favorite lex and flash too!!
@@tjhartley2599 so underrated as the flash! My favorite Flash as well!! 🙌
Hellz Yeah ⚡🤘
I agree with you! Chloe is great and one of my favorites ❤
@@BelleyPuffy Back then she was undoubtedly the most popular character on the show.
@@Costas22 haha I agree, but I think they needed an excuse to get Chloe a happier ending, so that she’s not desperately lonely lol
As for Clark, I think Chloe’s friendship is the perfect set up for Lois when you think about it!
“You make a deal with the devil. And he always comes to collect!”
Glover deserved an Emmy for this!
Lionel survived the way Lana has for 5 seasons
Lol right I'm surprised she's not cross eyed and in a wheelchair by her high school graduation
Awesome Podcast!
Brain Interactive Construct is another name for Braniac
Make Bryce a regular on the pod next season! He is so much more interesting than your current cohost
You're funny today Michael, keep it up. I like the voices impressions and funny comments, That's like my favorite part of the show
Great episode!
That's funny, when Michael says the wrong thing nobody notices but when Ryan does it Michael's like hey that was wrong 😂
Bryce gave it a 2.5!? Wow! Bryce usually gives bombs lol
This podcast overall is terrific. So glad they are doing it. I have not watched Smallville in many years, so I love all the memories that come back as the are recapping the episode. I hope Michael is ready, as next season there are some fire episodes.
Brain InterActive Construct.
Brain I A C
BrainIAC
Brainiac
Flex before Lex...err I mean Kneel before Zod! 😆😂
As the vessel of Jor-El Lionel could super speed there... potentially. 😅
One of my favorite episodes!
Thanks for a good season review.
Funny how I'm being triggered again by Clark going to the phantom zone even tho I know he'll survive with a cold 😂
Man this show had too many Zods xD
Still, the more villainous and megalomaniacal Rosenbaum demonstrates to me that having Lex start out as a good guy might have been a mistake. Don't get me wrong, I did like the dynamic of future enemies as friends, but evil Rosenbaum is completely next level stuff. I think Lex should've been more evil from the get go ^^
Like Al said last week
Season 6 is when the training wheels come off
Becomes more adult oriented and Metropolis centered
This recap has made me want to rewatch a particular episode again for the first time in a while Since I've seen the entire show through 3 times already
This tied up numon well
Lex hand blasts himself 😂😂
This question of whether Lex would be good or bad always makes me laugh. Do I think things would be different yes, but anytime Lex found out about his powers. Even an onyx he says did you ever think about how much we could accomplish together. He also always says that they would be god’s among men. Lex was raised no matter what to receive power even in Lexxus. He decides to take power over love. Circumstances would’ve changed, but sooner or later Lex would still become a villain.
Looking Forward to season 6!
It is my personal favourite Season
Been looking forward to this! 👏👏👏🫡

"Maybe you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it!" -Marty McFly (Back to the Future)
I kept thinking I missed something lol cuz it made no sense why "killing" Brainiac would release Zod's spirit 🤔
I agree this season wasn't the strongest season finale. compared to the last 4, it felt enclosed/smaller where the others felt pretty epic. and the story editing was not as tight as a typical Marshall ep. just like the last 5-7 eps, it's like they shot and edited all the plots separately and slapped them together 🤷♀️
but now I get what you meant at the beginning of the podcast season, about Clark's characterization and tbh most of the season feels like an after thought. the first half was amazing and excellent production quality. and I was pretty thrown watch Clark's face not only did he stick to his guns he literally didn't even kno what lies to tell 🤦♀️ and worse, they don't reference all his bad choices to connect to his character growth so it's like all this was for nothing 🤦♀️ lol well, at least Clark does majorly grow, but you'd really never know it from this lol
@Costas22 yeah I'm a bit deflated this season. tbh, the last couple months I've had hard time writing my synopsis lol
It’s a 3. For sure!
Good one
I'm not sure any show kills it with the premieres and finales like Smallville! They're usually awesome! This was no exception.
It is more that Fine set things up because while other Kryptonians are killers, he knows that's not Clark so he knew Clark would throw the dagger at who HE wanted it to be thrown at, remember Fine is very smart and strategic basically like an advanced computer system, that's why Jor-El warns that the black ship is actually Fine because the ship itself is the Brain InterActive Construct
I will say at least 1 thing, Michael's theories on how the 6th season premiere resolves stuff, you aren't even close there.
Michael butchered what Jor-El said about Fine
Clark: Fine has returned to release Zod.
Jor-El: There is one way, Zod was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone for crimes that led to the destruction of our planet"
Clark: Zod killed you
Jor-El: and your Mother and our entire race, just as he will do on Earth.
Clark: I won't let that happen
Jor-El: Zod's physical body was destroyed to prevent him from escaping the Phantom Zone, he can be freed if he finds a body - a vessel to inhabit.
Sky blast!
That was the strongest windshield I ever seen.
“Trousers of disbelief” 🤣🤣🤣
