Mike V taught me how to Ollie, 180, and pop shuv it. My dad bought me a Mike V trick tips VHS 📼 when I was 10 years old and I never looked back. What a legend!

MIKE V is a character that skateboarding always needed since the beggining, but now its almost more important than it ever has been
Skate tales might be my fave show going on these days!! This episode in particular was amazing, gotta love Mike V! But honestly I haven't seen an episode I didn't love!
Mike V is definitely and unquestionably a Legend . it was an honor to watch you on VHS in the late 90s /early 00s and it's an honor to see you in such good shape now - stay strong Mikey 💪🤘🔥
When you think about how much time mike v spends either inverted and/or with his head closer to the ground then the average skater not only is the helmet not something to judge, but something that makes total sense.
@@DaveS71 - There is nothing cool about that. Why not protect your head/health and your ability to skate/live normally, ya know? Helmet-haters are weird.
Mike V, one of the skaters i really like ever since i got a VHS in the late 90s/early 00s with footage of the Vans Generation 97 contest in Wembley, 2:50 him smashing up that car is forever engrained into my mind, an recently i learned that contest is the origin of the term EUROGAP
Wish the video was twice as long. This video brings joyful tears to my eyes. Watching this video reassure me why I still skateboard as of present day. I rode my first skateboard in 1985 after watching the movie Back to the Future. I am very happy that I am able to still ride my skateboard. Thank you skateboarding and always keep on rollin'.
As someone from Jersey; Mike V is a huge inspiration. Super stoked that he still crushing it and doing so much for the community. Honestly from this video Iowa not bad for what I always thought was a boring state.
Seeing Mike V do street plants takes me back to those days in 85-88....ho hos, sadplants...etc....I miss those airwalks he wore in public domain....in VA, we were so scared of him, after hearing rumors that he beat up some hardcore guys....only to meet him briefly and realize, he's one of the kindest ppl in the Universe...keep inspiring,my man.....bc of you, my hip hop, my art, my life became better...thank you for being you, man...salute
My all time favorite skater has been Mike V. Ever since I seen him do a boneless back in the 90s was instantly into skating. Thank you for everything you do for this world man! 🤘
This was seriously great...have ridden maybe 30 MIke V decks since 87 and still do today...the PP Elephant graphic is still the most powerful graphic in skateboarding history and I still see it everyday. Its been with me that long. Mike V influenced me heavily after Public Domain. I couldn't ollie onto handrails just didn't have that pop but after Public Domain seeing Mike caveman rails I could then make them. And Madar's is the man. Was lucky enough to meet him in Dubai a few years back and he's the real deal. What you see there is what you get...really nice guy and very very good at skateboarding. And big shout at Kristian Svitak. Style for miles.
Mike Vallely passion is skateboarding and musician of rock and roll while skating in many skatespot and fun activities to have a great adventure in Des Moines, Iowa!
I have been on board with Mike since I saw him in the article with Gonz and Natas pointing at his broken nose. I’m thinking TWS, but memories are hard to come by these days. As I drifted in and out of skateboarding over the last 35 years, I could always seem to rely on Mike to be a rock solid consent no matter what era of skateboarding Mike carved his niche and is able to stay relevant. I give you all the props in the world brother!! I’m stoked on all you do! Starting with Elephant( shit situation, so sorry). Now with Srreetplant. Elephant bullshit obviously happened for a reason. I’m so happy to see you continue to do skateboarding your own way, and on your terms with no compromise. Love you man Never Comply
There has been some damn good Skate Takes episodes - this one is tough to beat. Mike V. is about as gnarly as it gets. In 1988, Mike V. along with Lance Mountain, Steve Saiz and Rodney Mullen came to my hometown in Memphis, TN for a demo in a parking lot of a local mall. There were quite a of us groms trying to get their autographs and they all graciously stayed til everyone got it.... I was ( and will always be) a fan( hate using that term) of Lance and his skating from watching the Powell vids and contests. It was Mike V that was skating everything that day in the mall parking lot - both street and vert. From then on Mike V was one of those skaters I paid attention to as far as he rode for and his sponsors to his photos in mags. Mike is a true pioneer in the world of skateboarding....
His backward Ollie’s in Public Domain were cool however, his half cab kick flip was completely insane, especially for that time period, and on those big heavy boards! He Gonz and Natas were probably the only ones doing that stuff in 87-88?
I’m not really into skating anymore but I can still watch it, I remember being like 12 back in 2009 learning about Mike V and how much of a hardcore (rebel like) legend he was. seeing him teach younger kids skateboarding, ride bikes and wear a helmet is a 360 of what I remember him as, it’s so cool to see him doing so well and helping the skate community so much!
man he is so wholesome, but still scarry hhaha, poor soul who dates his daughter xD amazing video, what a throwback to the times with this legend still big active and in video games (:
Super cool putting skateboard OG 's in the spotlight to learn more cool stuff about skateboarding past and present!!! Thxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Red Bull!!!
I started skating 1984 aswell. Mike has been a constant in my life, I was also a touring punk drummer lol. I fully get his passions concepts and his ability to love everything about skating. Skating on Ur own he's happy skating with a couple dudes he's happy skating with a crew he's happy. As long as he still stands on a board he will be happy. I'm 48 and I still skate the best I can when I can. Mike v will always be a skate brother in my eyes, I actually saw him at livi skatepark Scotland late 80s it was mobbed haha but was an amazing day..
I truly like Mike V, I've loved his style since I was a child. Such a steezy personal touch on everything he does! Also the way he got onto the Tony Hawk tour that eventually produced the 'viral clip' is also incredible - He wanted on the tour, he made sure he would be a part of it one way or another!!
Mike V has inspired me to continue skateboarding into middle age. He gives off the vibe... if it's your passion, then keep doing it, it's all about the love. Legend! ⚡️

Mike Vallely, the Godfather/pioneer of street skating, I met him at a demo for SMA back in '89/90, at a shopping mall parking lot. coolest skater, real
He is a super cool dude. I grew up watching videos of him skating. Back when we had to buy VHS tapes. Finally met him on warped tour and my band played the Lucky stage for the whole tour. Revolution Mother shared that stage the whole tour. A Super rad dude.
LEGEND! Honored and lucky to have not only skated with him at Deiner Park at Rutgers where that fakie ollie to bench was filmed, but also at the infamous "Shred For Life" in Edison around 95', and, get to print him in my magazine Rare Breed in 97'. One of the GOATS. Love you Mike V ❤️ THANK YOU for you massive contributions to skateboarding. 🙏🏽
That was absolutely brilliant, so well done. I love these, please Red Bull Skateboarding keep these rolling 🙌 I loved every minute of it and Madars Apse has such a cool, calm and collected personality. Respect to Mike V for still Thrashing 👍
Good on him for putting a helmet on he's got a family, and yeah it rarely happens that something goes wrong but if your still pushing hard then things can go wrong even with the best skaters. He come across as super conscientious role model for young people following his passion. In a positive and loving way.
Dayyyyyyum, this is good! Big ups to Apse- good host & entertainer lol. Including vallely talk reasons for des Moines and helmet gets extra bonus points.
This is something I’m gonna have to watch over and over,I love Mike V, his tricks go from being mind blowing to occasionally something that’s not that difficult that the rest of us could learn but always done with such style it just makes you wanna get out there n try it! The Street Plant boards and wheels are amazing too, I’m on my 5th or 6th board and second set of wheels! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Been stoked on Mike V since he fought those couple chads in front of a store in the 90’s and dominated. Just a really sick guy all around. His daughter, Emily, is super talented too. ♥️❤️
I saw Mike in Public Domain and at a Powell demo in 86 or 87. He's been my favorite skater since. He makes little tricks look huge like Natas. He makes huge tricks look huge, like Mike V.
Saw Mike V at a demo at Rye Airfield in New Hampshire back in the day. Twice actually. Was super rad. The park lent itself to his style - street but with a lot of quarter pipes and vert-ish features. This was probably 2008 or something like that. Was a great time for skating and mike was just representative of some part of skating as a whole at the time, skating for element, being in the tony hawk games and such. Place was packed.
Cool video. I've always been a bit conflicted with Mike V because while I adore his skating style he had this reputation as this sort of mean guy who will fight you, a mean guy. I think that was an unfair assumption on my part but he just seemed like the kind of guy I can admire from a distance but we'd probably never hang out because he was too good and too intense for me. After seeing this video and seeing how he treats people now, I think he has both changed and grown as a person while I also have a better idea of not just who he was but who he is now. I will always be watching his old and new stuff to be inspired in doing what is considered old school and less common stuff because that is what drives me.

U still got the video? Just curious cuz I luv watching old videos from the early days when I started or actually way before.lol

OMG I remember that, I agree he is Legendary
I remember Mike V wrote an article basically saying people should stop hating on rollerbladers so much. That’s how nice he is. Much love Mike 💛
Rollerbladers are cool as fuck
Mike V is about as genuine as a person can get...a personal hero from the get-go. Public Domain was a mind melter at the time.
No way, that handstand at the end was amazing!
When I think of skateboarding, I think of Mike V. He is skateboarding. So appreciative of what he has given and continues to give. Bless

People who mKs fun of guys for using helmets and protecting their brains are fucking tools. I'm so glad thlse types of bullies are on their way out
If someone judges Mike V for wearing a helmet, then they aren’t listening to what Mike V has to say about skateboarding and life in general.
One of the most aggressive, hard skaters I ever knew bonked his melon in a backyard pool, seized for what seemed like eternity floppin like a fish...
@@DaveS71 - There is nothing cool about that.
Why not protect your head/health and your ability to skate/live normally, ya know? Helmet-haters are weird.
Nobody gives a fuck if he wears a helmet. He’s fucking Mike V, if you even consider judging him you’re a kook.
