Haha we just used a recycling container to do what you're doing we used A&h washing soda to take the rust completely Off a Chevy 350 4 bolt main ,we left our engine in for two days it worked like a charm 👍👍
Yeah the video is a win upload for sure. Thank you guys, off to build something to do my block and heads out of a 1977 K25 restoration project!! woot woot
Really enjoyed your video, I've used electrolysis to clean my bbq plates and a set of headers. From videos I've watched they said to only use small amps, in my tests I only used an old style 3amp battery charger and it worked well, also I used washing soda, same aisle as the washing detergent in the supermarket. Like you guys I was learning and am no expert. The engine block came out great in your video.
Hey guys I really enjoyed this video. I know this is an old video but for people just watching it today or in the future, you don't want to use washing powder, or as some people say to use bicarbonate of soda (baking soda). You should actually use sodium carbonate (washing soda) you can get it for about $2:50 kg in the laundry isle at Coles or Woolworth. This will give you the best electrical conductivity through the water. Thanks again for an entertaining video guys 👍
The washing powder is actually Carbonate Soda, not Bi-Carbinate Soda...bi-carb Soda is used in baking, hence why it's called baking Soda. Other than that...what kind of charger are you using? I've tried this twice before and both times the battery charger I had either struggled to get to 2 amps or the charger get tripping off. Great results anyway guys...and thanks for the idea of using an Otto bin to do it with too...I never thought of doing that. It'll clean out the bin as well too...
What's the battery charger that you guys were using ? Can you give details on it so I can buy something similar from one of the major tool suppliers? Cheers guys.
jeeeeezuz christ. i didnt know what you were saying at first until i broke through the THICK australian accent. those accents are thicker than my ex's ass. however, once i did, made me think of how you guys would laugh at my texan accent. im about to do this on transfer cases, gears, transmissions and whatnot. hope for positive results.

Fantastic job and great presentation, thank you guys very much for putting this video together.

LOL "Thanks to Brisbane city council" and your 'Heath Robinson" style setup!
Does it affect the Cylinder bore surface?

Use the charger on 2 amps. It will take a little longer to work but will not keep tripping off.

Will this work for carbon build up inside of a egr cooler??
Great job👍
Can we do this with cam bearings still on the block? Will this hurt cam bearings?
i love how they used the same block i have outside doing the same thing
Good work guys, works a charm
It works better if you remove the core plugs or welsch plugs as we call it here
You should have taken the freeze plugs out so we could see inside the water jacket and be better for your cleaning and rinse?
That’s awesome buddy looks great.
why didn't you knock the freeze plugs out ? would of helped clean the inside instead of trapping air
Thanks for the advice will definitely do that next time round👍👍

awesome job boys! I use the same process myself.
Only hydrogen and oxygen. Not a poisonous gas.
wouldn't be cheaper just to use bi-carb soda?
Wow! You made a clean block cleaner. 🤦🏻♂️🤣😂
what did you do with the used "solution" when you were finished with it?
You can keep reusing it, its just to conduct the electricity.
And remember to always keep the work area well ventilated and spark free...electrolysis produces hydrogen gas and is explosive.
Toyota six by any chance?
Brilliant...
I have a block with 6 of the 8 pistons rusted stuck pretty bad so I can’t get the crankshaft out, is the electrolysis safe for the crank?
I'm not sure how it would affect the crank journals, but would really help with freeing everything off.
Proper job that!

Not for aluminum, it will eat thru it.
@@j.d.martinez153 nothing i run is aluminum. dana 18, sm420. 71 jeep cj6
Only one of those blokes speaks Australian
Just remember it does give off a poisonous gas!
@Sam Nardo it separates hydrogen and oxygen molecules and releases them into the atmosphere. Could be really dangerous without ventilation.
