I decided to make a video on Jack Payne for my seventeenth birthday today, since he had a couple of recording sessions on my birthday during the 1920s-40s (e.g. 1929 and 1940). He was the first leader of the BBC Dance Orchestra (1928-32) and was one of the most renowned British dance bandleaders from the transition period from the 1920s to the 1930s. His last recording session took place around November 1945.
