    Thanks! I have a 2022 where the blinker was working occasionally. I just tightened the bulb and I'm good.

      Thank you so much for sharing your success with this video. The turn signal on the 2022 Niro EV I drive went out for like a day last week, and then went out again this week but never came back on.
      After I read it worked for yours, I ran with it and fixed my problem- just a loose bulb connection!

    Hi Joe, great video and well explained! Would you give me some tips on how to replace this bulb, but for the turn signal in the front of the vehicle ?

    My Kia Niro 2018 break light is out, is this the bulb just above in your video?

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Місяць тому

      @@pavsplace967 I think so. The gray plug should be a brake light bulb. I would remove the gray plug and see the bulb model number that’s in there. Then I’d cross reference the correct brake lightbulb for the car and if they match then that’s the right one.

    So I followed this video, very helpful - I replaced the rear turn signal bulbs with LED bulbs, and while they work, I'm still getting fast blinking.
    I made sure the connections were clean, used alcohol to prep and clean everything, even took them back out again and re-cleaned, same thing.
    Any ideas?

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Рік тому

      LED bulbs can “trick” the car into thinking there is a dead bulb because LED bulbs do not draw very much power.
      Before putting in the LEDs did you have one dead bulb and the other one blinking fast?

    • @gripp9k
      @gripp9k Рік тому

      @@JoesCarSmartsNY Yep, exactly this; only had one fast blinking, decided to replace both, and now they both fast blink :)

      @@gripp9k Okay. You can solve this by putting regular bulbs in.
      Or, you can try purchasing “Error-Free CAN BUS compatible” bulbs.
      The only other way to make your existing LEDs work is to add ballast resistors into the wire harness at the housing. I don’t really recommend that here because the resistors need to be attached to something metal because they get very warm. If you’re not careful the resistors can melt plastic.

      @@JoesCarSmartsNY Bummer I was hoping to be able to use the LED's :)
      All good, they weren't that expensive. I still saved a ton of money just doing it myself, even with the extra cost of the LED's I can't use :)

    • @pekinggeese
      @pekinggeese Рік тому

      @@gripp9k You can use LED bulbs, it just needs to be error-free versions that trick the car to think it the bulb is using the correct amount of watts. LEDs draw so little power that the car thinks the bulb isn't working if it does not have something to trick the car.

    Hey this might be a dumb question, but about how much force did you do to remove it. I have a 22 model, and I've tried removing it, but when it wasn't budging, I stop since i dont want to break anything. Taking it in for service is about a month out.

      The twist motion can be tough sometimes. If it really won’t move at all, try spraying a little WD-40 or PB Blaster where the socket meets the housing. There’s a little o-ring in that area that is probably sticking. Make sure to clean off whatever you spray on it. Use rubbing alcohol to clean the area so the spray doesn’t stay or get on the new bulb

      @JoesCarSmartsNY  2 роки тому +1

      @@fabianchavez1217 Okay. From experience on other cars there should be approx. 6-8 clips holding the plastic trim to the inside of that hatch. Carefully removing that cover should give you access to bulbs inside the hatch.
