Hey Bros, I hope you are well and EPIC as always! I had a blast making these and I think video turned out great! (that is probably because of awesome music by Jan Valta and Adam Sporka) I am looking forward to your comments and questions :D Also be sure to check the description for measures of the shields ;) Your Epic Workshop, Moris
This is just an amazing video, man! So interesting to watch whole the process from the scratch: raw, unconnected materials at the beginning, finished piece of art in the end - and lots and lots of work in the middle. (Actually, with composing music it's quite the same.) ;-) And thanks for using our music! I really appreciate it. All best & cheers from Prague!
Amazing craftsmanship, these shields are looking really great. It is very satisfying to see them coming together in the video and they fit very nicely together with the sword which you made earlier. :)
Thank you so much 💚 Sword hangs in my room and now next to it is shield of Talmberg! And thanks to Warhose Studios crew for making such art of a game! I can't wait to play it 🤘 Moris
So I've been making shields for a while and never understood how to get that curve into my plywood without people saying to use a steamer or wet rags. This just answered my questions and inspired me to get back at it. Great work dude!!
An absolute triumph. And you even had my favorite sword in the final shot. True works of art my guy, and now it’s time for another playthrough of KCD🛡️
@@EpicWorkshop ...or a drill, or a stapler, or pre-mixed paint, or pictures from the internet as references, or a grinder, or a flex, or clamps... Your work is already... well, epic! (Good job as usual, keep it up!) But just imagine the hassle people had to go through back in the days. Especially when making a mistake and having to restart from scratch!! Horror. Plain horror.
Yeah, it was much slower to make things out of any material. Today, in order to produce videos. I don't have time to fell the tree, wait 5 years for it to dry, re-saw it with handsaw and so on..
Hearing the music always makes me sad because I love the 'original' version of the game and even though there is going to be great new content to enjoy I can't help but feel scared for the thing I love so much. Also, next you should make a shield using only medieval techniques where possible to see the quality difference XD
Thank you Bro 💚 Yeah they look awesome in from 50 cm haha my bro thought they are real and looked behind the shield to see the rest of the "bolt" hahaha 😂
Once again Sir, you are a mother-trucking wizard. I truly appreciate your passion and detail. Did you need to find the EXACT color of red... Nope, but you did anyways.
Thank you Bro 💚 I am glad you like it. I always try to give my best for the projects. 😁 But.. Yellow kinda looks different on camera but ok hahah 😂 Have an Epic Day !!!
Fantastic as always love your videos. You should make more of the weapons from kingdom come deliverance, something like the “Herod Sword” or may just one of the more common swords, axes and maces
So close to 100k!! Once again -great- epic job. 10:40 What is that ink transfer paper stuff you used?I have vague memories of using something like that when I was a kid in art class.
This is very cool. Shields are an important armor and while I do use them in games I don't think too much about the more fancy shields or cultural shields.
@@EpicWorkshop is it possible to make more swords and stuff from KCD ? love it so much i've made my own KCD style sword out of metal and i love it haha
i built my own shield about two years back for a suit of armor i had got, nothing fancy but great for looking the part to a casual. I am really surprised how many of the things i did with no formal woodshop experience were also what you did. i did just math the angles in the boards for it though, instead of making a form like you did (though ill keep that idea in mind for next time. Although i did add 3-5 pegs to each boards, depending on length. to help keep the whole thing together under use, as i planed to use it a bit roughly.
Awesome, yeah I get you 🤘 but they didn't use dowels (pegs) back in the day for shields or did they? Just asking. If it works, awesome! Outside is important not inside.. in this occasion haha 😂
@@EpicWorkshop I've no clue if they did or not, but I didnt have the means to fortify it with metal, so there ya go. Also having to push the table saw while sawing to make room hit real close to home.
YEEEESS ,this video was "EPIC" great job, and the music, I thought I was in Valhalla for a second. Also what kind of cloth was that, and what is it for? So glad there's a quality non-plywood shield video on UA-cam, great job ;)
Yellow looks way too different on the camera unfortunately, it is better in real life, unfortunately I didn't know anything about color correction back then 😅
Thank you Bro 💚 🍺 I used tempera but before you start aging on your piece, be sure to get rid of paint in the brush on the paper. Brush has to look empty, dry and without paint but it will work superb! Try on a scrap before you mess up your project or shield 😉
Hello, first of all great job on those three ! great channel overall :) . I'd like to require your expertise on something. I started not so long ago Béhourd ( or HMB if you prefer, even buhurt :) ) and the first and only thing i want to make in my kit at the moment is a drop shaped shield. Your video is a goldmine for me even if the thickness and some esthetical stuff is not required in my sport . I'd like to protect the edges of the shield with leather because i think it's required in the rule of HMB ( which can be pretty harsh , historically speaking) . What kind of leather would you personally use ? i heard that rawhide or dog chew leather can be indicated for it's toughness , and ... maybe cost ? I'd love to have your take on this . Also great job on the interior padding , looks great and comfy, and historical as well ! New subscriber here
Thank you so much Bro 💚🤘I would go with rawhide or dog chew (which is rawhide I think) that is both historically correct and It will look epic. Unfortunately pet store didn't had the dog chew thing 😢 so I made one without. Glad you like it, stay tuned I will start with videos soon as I am working during the summer. Moris
@@EpicWorkshop thanks a lot , i didn't even know that you could buy them in pet store , unless you wanted to un-knot a leather bone yourself haha , i found some place to buy them, well ... raw too , but i wanted to know if it was good stuff before. thanks again for that quick response !! much appreciated . That yellow shield for leipa reminds me of the shield that John rhys davis have in the old movie ivanhoe. Although there davis plays a saxon.

Amazing work. The shields look so good! I have a question: did you need to angle the sides of the boards to create the curve of the shield?
Yes I did, and then you smooth it out
I've been wanting to do a shield project like that for years. But I think the easiest for me would be to make a foam shield
Who says it has to be wood, leather and all that.. If you make it look good, as a wall hanger it will be epic! 🤘
