Given how lackluster the original HGUC GM Sniper II was (even back in 2012), this kit is very impressive. It may not be a top-tier HG when it comes to articulation or accessories, but it does everything you'd want it to do, looks fantastic, and just feels like a solid, contemporary HG. The HGUC GM Sniper II it's based on struggled to do a sniping pose and was arguably worse than HG GMs that preceded it, including ones like the Powered GM or Quel from 2006/7. The GM Sniper II was my favorite design at the time and I highly anticipated the HG's release, only to be left incredibly disappointed. I was worried about the reused GM Sniper II parts, but it basically turned out to one of the best gunpla comeback stories.
I'm waiting on two of these to arrive, so I'm glad to see a favorable review. And as a note, the smoke launchers are the three gray tubes on the head---they're based off the smoke launchers you see on a lot of tanks. Which is to say, almost exactly the same because smoke launchers are very simple contraptions.
Yeah I was very impressed on how detailed the kit is and it’s color separation. Not to mention that rifle is insanely detailed for a Hg kit rifle. It blows all of my GM kits out of the water.
This is gonna be one of a those kits that I'd be shouting 'reloading' when playing with them! Just ordered one, really excited to build it. Nice review as always!
They reissued this kit so many times on USA P Bandai I built 3 as a squad on my shelf. You’re right about those extra parts too. Definitely gives you the ability to make more variety if you have more than one kit. I was wondering if you were going to get around to this kit. Wanted to hear your opinion on it as I fell in love with it and got 2 more through rerelease. Great review.
HG witch from mercury kits fall short for me of what a HG should be because despite all of their seeming extravagance at times, they also skimp on quality in places to keep the cost down. Namely C clips which to me, are entry grade level quality which shouldn’t be in HGs for important areas
I didn't know this kit existed, and that was better because I freakin love it, it is REALLY impressive the amount of detail and armor separation, color separation in it and the design is just tasteful and awesome, but I will never be getting because of it being P-Bandai. What an HG, though.
Superior training and superior weaponry have, when taken together, a geometric effect on overall military strength. Well-trained, well-equipped troops can stand up to many more times their lesser brethren than linear arithmetic would seem to indicate.
I believe the little articulated pieces on his shoulders are supposed to be connection points for a jungle themed, camouflage cloak. I'm sure I've read that somewhere when I first found out about the GM Spartan years ago, but I'am not sure where and can't find it anymore, so don't take my word for it!
This and the GM Custom are my all time favourite grunt suits. Finally seeing this suit made was amazaing, pre ordered it the moment I saw it (through gritted teeth, P Bandai after all). The only additions this kit should have had - - optional additonal vulcan pod for the head. The suit is written in lore it can mount one (based on GM Sniper 2). I just feel heads without vulcans are rather "naked". - an extra two magazines to mount on the rear skirt, the feature is advertised but who is going to place them there and leave the gun looking empty or at the very least NOT showing off it's unique quick reload function?
That was released in a time there was not a bloat of new alternate universes so UC still was the main focus of gunpla production. Now we get a lot of alternate universes kits and UC ones are mainly P-Bandai sadly.
The gm striker could use a refresh imo. The articulation is understandably dated, but for a close combat unit they could've eeked a bit more out of it.
tbh I don't really care too much for the Spartan but given they were willing to make so many new runners for this kit I got high hopes for more more non-Origin GMs in the future
a bit disappointed for that yellow sticker for tiny part on its waist. if they could separate color for that part for other kit in the same series like GM GTO, then why not this kit too?
hi Zaku...i really like when u review Hemoxian Thor... i wonder if u going to review In Era Thunderbolt... i meant i think it'll be safe bcoz the design is really far anough from gundam and i think the mechanic and gimmicks is really good. :)
any chance you review a pbandai Aquam Hambrabi II both re-boot and re-zeon version , or you currently don't have one on hand atm? cuz I don't get why there's only a few reviews out there and it's half decent(no offense ) + its not on foreign language so you u can't understand a thing.
