I don’t know Mel, but I feel like she’s the type of person who goes on historical tours, museum tours etc. and acts really interested and asks loads of questions 😂
She on record attended a lecture on the Liz Line/cross rail and then talked about it through half of a Big Fat Quiz. It was delightful. Romesh was her partner simulating resignation and despair
Well, horses for courses etc but when they were a double act they were pretty mediocre IMHO. Somehow maturing a bit and becoming independent "TV personalities" seems to have served them both well.
As a Chinese, I just don't get the joke. Japan kept the right to left book format, but modern China switched to left to right. So I have no idea what Lee was referring to.
@pkuvincentsu Lee is still the guy that brought an Iceberg into a Cabbage discussion, which I may add I also found funny. Comedy is comedy, I don't doubt our ignorance played into this but I'm certainly not looking to over analyse what should be an easy listen / watch.
@@pauldayus Oh normally I enjoy Lee's comedy a lot. He was gold in Taskmaster too. I'm just confused with this particular joke because culturally it just doesn't make sense to me. I guess I just didn't expect the misconception/Ignorance of the Chinese reading format to be that widespread.
Fun fact about Mel Giedroyc, she is actually a descendant of Lithuanian nobility, the Giedraitis family of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth who trace their lineage back to Giedrius, a brother of a Grand Duke of Lithuania named Traidenis during the 13th century. A potential ancestor of hers (could just be someone who shares ancestry with Giedrius but is not a direct ancestor) was Romuald Giedroyc, briefly commander of Lithuanian troops raised during Napoleon's catastrophic invasion of Russia.
I love Mel but what is it with people like you who raise her and others above the "crowd" for the achievements of their ancestral family members from decades or even centuries ago? Any lineage has no value whatsoever, if anything, it proves the inferiority of the house instead of superiority. She was born into this family, has become a successful public personality and that's it. It wasn't her who tore down the castles of her enemies or defended her own against them. I'd dare bet that you're an American of 3rd or 4th gen who thinks he/she's Irish or Italian. If not, then a Londoner who has achieved jackshit after the age of 40.
He's just like Lee, it's not like either of them try to truly convince the audience; they're doing it just for fun. A fact which both of them abuse when they throw in a true story every once in a while.
@@avysark2034 I'd be interested to know how many of their claims were actually true. My guess would be 5%. With the guests it's easy. If they're not comedians, it's almost 100% of the time true, since they don't have any improv skills.
Mel really shines on her own show Unforgiveable, here she cant talk much other than tell the story within the confines of the shows format, she seems a delight

I don't mind these guest focused retrospectives, but it's weird you still include the full "This is my" segments of all 3 people. This wasn't really a Mel-focused clip, considering how much time is devoted to other guests as well
We had that chat haha. We decided to keep the mystique of the full round in tact though, especially in cases where the mystery guest isn't Mel's for example. It seems rude to rob people of the real answer!
The method you suggest has been used on many other 'highlight' clips of certain contestants, but what happens is call backs and cross reference jokes referring to the other contestants' claims become meaningless and confusing to anyone not very familiar with the particular round of that particular show.
That's how his comedy works. He is reacting very very fast (in what he is one of the best) and tries to say something funny, which works for him big percent of time, but sometimes it does not.
Mel Geidroyc, **officially** nice. She seems like such a delight to hang out with!
I'd like to spend some time with her ! 😊
