Is is Over is a question we struggle to ask lest we hear what we least expect. Being in a space where you have to go through this kind of pain is heartbreaking. Countless sleepless nights, confusion clouds your sense of reason, your self esteem takes a huge dent and you are left wondering, are you that unworthy even though you gave them your everything? Is your everything just NOT good enough? The next thing is rumours of your loved one enjoying life and having a blast and there you are wondering if It is Over? This song is undoubtebly the most emotional song on this album B-rokenhearted.
Two great vocalists on one song. Is it over is a slow mellow song that has emotions throughout. This is a cry by a troubled, confused, lonely man asking his woman if the love they share is over. Her actions are opposite of her words, rumours are floating in the air and her habits have changed as human beings are creatures of habit. All this leave one wondering whats going on? Am I being replaced? But why? What did i do wrong as all i have done is give you pure unfiltered love. These are the questions that inspired the writing of this song.
Julian King is an amazing vocalist and I watched his first video Rwendo & fell in love with his voice, especially its tone. I reached out to Julian who is based in America & asked him to be a part of this project. In the end we actually did TWO SONGS together and the other one will be premiered on his channel as it is part of the B-rokenhearted album series.
What makes this song amazing is the fact that, I have never met Julian King officially (face to face) and only know him through Instagram & Whatsapp comms. Julian recorded his vocals seperately from Sanii as he was in a distant country. Additionally, the video was shot in TWO different countries & I was NEVER physically with Julian during the shoots. The reason I LOVE this song is because it is pure in emotion, pure in delivery and execution as well as a very complicated song to put together but nonetheless it came out PERFECTLY.
As is with the theme on some of the songs on this album, there is no female character in this video. Please listen to the vocal delivery as well as the emotion in this masterpiece of a song.
ALL SONGS on this album were done during LOCKDOWN where we were NOT ALLOWED to move. We were not allowed more than 5 people in one place. So it was me, director, make up artist, lightman & gaffer. We were not allowed to travel more than 5km away from your house.
Julian & I were NEVER in the studio together. We have NEVER met physically. He did his vocals in his studio, I did my vocals in mine.
Julian shot his video parts without me as he is in ANOTHER country. The videos on this album will NOT focus on women etc as they are about the PAIN and not about WHO caused them. Sorry, but NO SLAY QUEENS etc...lets listen to music WITHOUT distractions!!
