I love how Kurzgesagt videos have given a musical motif to the shockwave of a nuclear weapon, and making it an apocalyptic horn that just screams dread is genius
"For a brief moment, a fireball of pure energy appears, up to 50 kilometers in diameter, larger than the visible horizon [20 Kilometers.] It radiates blistering heat at the speed of light. Everything within 400 Kilometers is instantly incinerated--every tree, animal, house, person. The energy would reach much farther, but the explosion is _so big_ that the horizon curves _away_ from it. The surrounding deserts melt into fields of glass... 5:00 "And _then_ comes the shockwave."
It is. We are in the endgame. No, I am not just saying that because of this track or because of the accompanying video by Kurtzgesagt. The signs are there... humanity is quickly spiraling completely out of control. Democracy is dying across the globe and with more and more autocrats taking control, petty squabbles will lead to more and more extreme responses. I've felt for decades now that humanity would not survive much past 2150. I still feel my prediction is right on the money.
Literal banger… “Edward was a madman. The real destroyer of worlds.” Before listening, just from the thumbnail and the Nuclear Winter reference, I knew this was going to be a tense, engaging soundtrack. After hearing it, I recognized it as a remix of *Nuke a City* , with hints of the *Supervolcanoes* riff woven in for added tension. EM, this is outstanding-10/10 track! *Nuke a City* & *Moon Crash/Nuke the Moon* were already iconic, so we all knew this would be insane! 🥳
Nuke a City is one of their best tracks, and an icon of terrifying mood of nuclear weapons. I remember some unrelated Kurzgesagt video had the Nuke a City riff when they had a single scene comparing something to nuclear explosion. This stuff is iconic!
Unlike Oppenheimer that have regrets over the creation of a weapon so devastating to mankind and shamelessly said words, "I have blood in my hands", unto Truman, which infuriated the president. Edward Teller goes to madness just to prove the point of how much a big ass nuke capable of wiping humanity off the face of the world.
when Oppenheimer said this I was like "yeah, kinda pathetic to be such a whiny bit(h after doing what you did while you were fully aware of the consequences" but Teller was straight up a psychopath
I love how the sirens continually raise in pitch, never quite letting you get used to the sound and thus never letting you feel comfortable when you hear them as the tension somehow continues to build. Such a brilliant little thing I love about this song.
This sounds like some really professional music you would see in a high budget series, but in reality its on a free video on UA-cam. The music quality is unreal and epic. Keep up these AMAZING soundtracks!!!
The horns on 'Nuke a City' and 'Nuke the Moon' are such visceral and powerful parts that i keep coming back to listen to them every so often, and now i found the Act 3 to my weekly rotation of 'Apocalyptic Bangers' I wish the guys at Kurzgesagt kept making nuclear videos if only for the sake of commissioning more of these from you. God. Damn.
i love the callback to the original kurzgesagt theme at 1:47 and onwards, its such a silly theme but since it stays on the same note all the time it has MUCH more tension and makes the entire video (in my opinion) sound a lot more... dark?
Holy Cow I didn't even know this channel exists. I just realize how good these songs are. In the Kurzgesagt videos, this doesn't come across so strongly because the music plays so quietly in the background. The Stellar Engine Soundtrack for example is pure gold. And I didn't realize it when I watched the video back then. Kurzgesagt should use these songs better tbh. For example let them play with a bit more volume for a few seconds from time to time, when the narrator isn't talking. That would also contribute greatly to the atmosphere.
Ok this video is literally *blew up* because that one part when the "here it comes the shockwave" Sounds absolute banger. That makes people finding out this soundtrack and I can say this soundtrack falls in my top favorite Kurzgesagt Soundtracks

the sheer adrenaline (or chills?) I get from listening to this, Project Sundial is just so unfathomably insane that it's hard to believe it almost happened
@@jimquill5491 Given what was presented on the video, it already exists, but not as a single bomb. With the right (or wrong) minds in place, one could just gather stored fission and fusion bombs and strap them together in just the right proportions. The bomb, in fact, doesn't need to look like one (a ball, a missile or a container), it could just be a concrete building or a warehouse, filled with racks and computers to rig the structure and explosion sequence.

It's like the doomsday clock itself sets in to add a level of depth to this immensly apocalyptic score... Great job ya'll, Kurzgesagt has certainly made the right decision by sticking with you guys, the styles of your music and their animation are like bread and butter.

This music gives Oppenheimer OST vibes. It begins relatively low and calm, but slowly progresses to a more rapid pace. It gives me the feeling that you slowly loose control over something, and then it becomes so big and so monstrous that you can't stop it anymore.
In the wise words of Billy Butcher, that drop was fucking diabolical! Honestly, this would be so fitting somewhere in the Fallout soundtrack. It sent shivers down my spine.
