- www.mod-tv.com Designer Giambattista Valli told us he cast Gigi Hadid in his Spring 2016 show because he felt she embodies the spirit of his woman, "She's so imperfectly beautiful, she's so stunning and so real".
Gigi Hadid speaks to us backstage at Giambattista Valli about why she loves the designer, and her recent comments about body-shaming on social media and the bold comments she wrote on Instagram and shared with her 7.2 million followers at the start of Paris Fashion Week. Gigi had received numerous negative comments on the popular social media app, with some criticizing her curves, slightly jumpy walk and reality show pedigree.
On September 28th Gigi defended herself and wrote a passionate, heartfelt post on her Instagram feed:
“No, I don’t have the same body type as the other models in shows… You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I’m a hard worker that’s confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for a change.” @GigiHadid
We caught up with Gigi Hadid backstage at the Giambattista Valli show in Paris to find out more about her empowering message for young women everywhere.

Gigi Hadid in this interview sounded like she was about to cry but nonetheless, she delivered simple but empowering messages to a lot of young, impressionable girls (including me), especially when they have to go through body image issues. I got made fun when I was younger because of my body size (I was a big girl, by the way!) but now that I'm almost grown up, I don't let the fat-shaming thoughts, if not comments, get under my skin! Gigi Hadid is, in my opinion, the hottest girl in the fashion industry at the moment, she's like an angel. So beautiful and sexy
Why so much hate? Yeah, she's not as skinny as the other models, but who says you have to be that thin anyway? She's probably the first model I ever saw who actually had BREASTS. And she can get pregnant, isn't that a good thing? And so what if she got famous easily? Did she steal YOUR spot? She has something positive to say, while all you can do is spread hate. So I'm glad SHE'S the famous one and not you.

what i wonder is what is so "unperfectly beautiful" about Hadid to Giambattista Valli that makes her stand out from other models of the same look/body type as her. Based on the rest of the models in the show he obviously has a preference for a certain aesthetic for his models that is very different from Hadid's look. So why Hadid?

She is quite a bit overrated (mainly because of instagram, I think). However, I think she's gorgeous and it's nice to see different sizes on the runway. Honestly, I thinks she's healthy looking but still slim and it reminds me of 90s supermodels. I like her body type a lot, and it really suits certain looks really well. Her face is beautiful and stands out from the crowd. I especially love her eyebrows!
Gigi isn't actually a bad person. She seems very nice even a little bit shy in a way but the reason most people don't like her or Kendall is the way how they become famous aka how they got free pass through the years of hard work and suffering before becoming famous. Most of the models don't come from privileged families like Hadid does or don't have famous siblings like Kendall. They jump to the high because of that. I am not saying that they aren't good models. They wouldn't have been there if the weren't, I want to say that they have being pushed by their celebrity status

Because the clothes look aesthetically pleasing on smaller frames, I've seen gigi on the runway wearing the size 6/8 samples and she does the clothes no justice, she flabby in the most unflattering places and it makes the clothes she wears look really tacky and not high fashion at all.
As blanca said, if it was any other girl with her measurements they would be sent home and told to lose weight, but because gigi has the social media power, she gets a get out of jail free card.

I really like Gigi, she's stunning... really beautiful, but let's take into account that she really doesn't have a great walk, Her hips stumble too much and on the H&M Balmain show she was really trying hard to get through the stairs (like, compare her walk to Karlie s ) therefore, she's not a good walk model... but she's a photography one, her pictures inspire confidence on moves and just looks natural, more real.
