I started using chat gpt for tons of stuff but only recently realized I could also ask it for car help. It was SUPER helpful and saved me so much time when trying to work on my project car!
Had the same thought with this new age tool.. diagnosing for newbies will be so much easier than searching through outdated forums. I wonder if it can get into specifics on common issues for specific cars.
It can, but there will be some errors of course. I asked it all kinds of specific questions when researching for this video and I’d say for specific questions it was like 60-70% correct. Sometimes it surprised me though and got some really great answers generated.
I spent a day this week googling and looking through old forums until I found the right diagnosis. Tried chatgpt right now and it gave me the correct answer right away.
@johnheinonen8763 idk how to explain what it does that makes it much different but I could tell it to write me example a Haynes service manual for a 2011 dodge ram 3500 instantly I'd have a service manual where gpogle you have to search then click links for 30 mins to be told there is a price wall that makes you have to pay 26.99 or spend 2 hours more searching forums for an answer where I just get it instantly also I use even now Google way more than the chatgpt system it's very niche
You could follow troubleshoot Flow Chart based on symptoms yourself to narrow down which is basically what gpt did but faster. Until gpt has it’s own body with opposable thumb to physically check things in your car itself my job is still secure. Perhaps in the next 10-20 yrs.
I get that info from basic Google searches. Maybe it could diagnose an electrical problem. The key would be formulating a detailed question I like that 240z, very rare. I test-drove one in 1978, my uncle a pharmacist had a baby on the way and wanted a Volvo he was practically giving me that car and my parents said no.
frankly im unimpressed. if i can simply listen to a v8 engine and tell you which cylinder is misfiring then a computer should be able to do ten times that as i sam not even plugged into the obd connector ai needs to come a long long way before it will be able to do this stuff cause theres infinite possibilities and your not allowed to follow every path to find the solution. personally i think ai to diagnose a car is just a good way to spend a ton of money on stuf that doesnt need fixing

I could literally type this in Google search and get the same answer, ai is not as intelligent as its made out to be.

Also, that's just a hypothetical trying to explain where the differences are. The qol is much better, but honestly each there own
