Is it me or youtube, it sounds like the music becomes more narrow with the compressor engaged ? :O ..... I think I need to book a hearing test?
I think it sounds great but I’ve got a number of really great sounding compressors already and a number of them by UAD.
Not seeing a game changer here, so I’ll pass.

@@levondarratt787 Who are you telling people what they should do with their payment plans? Troll. Subscription is the way forward for me, so does that mean that every plugin I have sounds terrible? No. Don't be rude - simply try the plugin, if you like it use it, if not don't use it, it makes no difference to me.
I feel the same as with other UAD plugins, the compression is good, but it affects the stereo image, in my opinion, the stereo image closes, it happens with some plugins from other companies, there are others where this does not happen like Acustica Audio or pulsar audio.
And also, what a price! UAD must come down from the cloud at some point.
They kinda have. Today (20th May) they offer the LA2A, 1176 Fairchild, Pultec UADx bundles for $49, each. Of course this Capitol Mastering Compressor plug in is expensive as it just came out, but in due time it will be cheap as welll.
Plug in Alliance is the same.
Acustica is the same (actually with Acustica you get an early bird price for effectively, unofficially beta testing their new plug ins and they have been transparent about this).

Hey Mike I’m mixing a song (very Strokes influenced, song sounds great but for the hooks there’s a boost in loudness for “tension” but the hook vocals can’t seem to cut through enough, I’ve got a FF pro Q, C6, waves deesser, isotope trash then a blue stripe 1176 on the vocal channel / another blue 1176 decapitator, pro q, magg 4, gem dopamine, h delay and a lexicon on the vocal bus, any suggestions or feedback ?
to me it has this finished sound to it, don't know how to describe it. It just seems like I don't have to do much for it to sound polished.
Not sure if it was the context of the material, but I was not really digging this compressor. To my ears it appears to muddy the tonal sound, sort of dating the sound to very lofi or something at least to my ears. I am unfamiliar with the hardware and that could be it's purpose. It may also not be the vibe for me which is a possibility.
The source material was already very warm and the compressor has a warm “analog” tone, that’s most likely what you’re hearing, in comparison to something like an SSL or API comp which would be punchier and cut more through the mix, that “warm” sound isn’t for everyone lol
@@bco0t6 That is a very good point and I appreciate it. He did say at the end the song probably was not the best material to use to demonstrate the compressor. You are right, I am more of a SSL, BAE and API person for that punch in the face appeal. It actually matches my personality type lololol.
