Actually the pasgt vest can stop pistol rounds, its rated about level II ,and the pasgt is rated the same, but the pasgt like you said was meant to stop fragmentation but can also stop some small rounds
The ACH/MICH helmets are the updated version of the PASGT and the Interceptor vests with SAPI plates are a lighter and less clumsy version of the PASGT vest. You can definitely see the similarities when you add the DAPS onto the Interceptor.
Actually, there are youtube videos around the US that show this vest stopping multiple 9mm and .45 caliber bullets easily, but you're definitely going to be bruised after getting bit by them. So it's safe to say that although it is meant for fragmentation it does well against pistol threats as well.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 Yes but I just wanted to emphasize you don't have to be lucky to have the vest stop a pistol round as you said in the video. Great video though.
Let's not forget that plenty of countries use old USGI surplus to this day. When I served in the Estonian military some years ago, we were issued US-supplied PASGT vests (which only came in size XL - not exactly ideal for scrawny conscripts).
@@CREEPINGIRON actually, we've for the most part, have switched over to ACH's and equivalents. Along with our plate carriers being plate carriers for SAPIs. I haven't seen any of the old school stuff at all.
the pasgt vest looks sick as fuck. SUPER rare in the uk but you can typically get pasgt STYLE helmets fairly often for cheap. the best sorta looks like the polish stuff
Yeah I like the armed police PASGT clones, only thing I dislike is the weird liner system that's hard to replace because the liner holes are in odd places
Aren't US Military surplus equipment are fairly easy to find in the UK? I mean the UK have and still hosts several US Air Force bases since the 1950's and have many bases there during the Cold War and many were closed by the US in the 90's but not all. RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall still are opearated by the the USAF along with a few smaller ones. Perhaps surplus stores near these areas carries a lot of American surplus equipment.

I remember there was a bit of controversy about the similarities of appearance between the PASGT and the WW2 German helmet.
Imagine someone being so pathetic to get upset over the shape of a helmet
Yeah that’s how it gained the nickname “the fritz” helmet
Or k pot as Kevlar or kraut pot
By that logic we shouldn't use assault rifles because Nazis did it first.
It went away after they started putting helmet covers on, IIRC
The PASGT system was the right equipment for the wrong conflict when it came down to fighting insurgency as you mentioned.

Would be cool if I had the vest, only two helmets with coating wear.

I didn't like the digital camo that the USA marine corps used, I like the camo sploches like what you had on. Keep up the good videos!
As in M81 Woodland not MARPAT

The good old days when snap buttons were the most tactical thing available.
Also I found the manual. Apparently mine was made in 1981.

Was it used until the 2000s
Edit:also some of that helmets have a riot version I think but its rare
I believe the only current use of the PASGT system is in the Navy.
As said I don't think it's even totally out of service yet
