I came to this video because I want to take down my dropped ceilings. I didn’t expect to tear up because of how much you love and value your wife. Never change! You guys are goals.
I installed this same ceiling over Popcorn Ceilings in my house but they have since marketed it to attach to ceiling like yours. Instead of grid I just added furring strips, and then installed this. Super easy and it looks great! Mine has held up for about 7 years now.
@@bizzothagreat It is really easy. There are clips you screw in and the next piece covers it up. Definitely easier than dealing with Tongue & Groove wood that is all bowed, plus it’s already pre-finished. I did half of my house in one day. I assume it’s the same on a drop ceiling. I installed mine over a resultant drywall ceiling.
Priced out the Armstrong to just pine 6x12 bead boards and the bead boards are 1/2 the price of the Armstrong. Gonna be more work to stain and paint but it’s my labor!
Those ceilings look fantastic, I have a 100 year old house that has AGRESSIVE texture everywhere including the ceiling will be keeping this in mind for getting it gone
Bud, In all seriousness I've seen people who claimed to be time served carpenters and others who say they have 25 years of trading as joiners and believe me, your work surpasses theirs hands down. I'm into the 9th video of your playlist so far and I have enjoyed every single video, you explain yourself well and your attention to detail is first rate. I would hire you to work on my property any time. Thank you for the great videos, Stephany must be so happy with your home... All the best Jay...
I’ve had the coffered Armstrong ceiling in my basement😃. Everyone that has seen it loves it. I loved this option because of pipes and ducts and wires in the ceiling.
What an improvement! Can't believe just 2 people could accomplish that in 1 day. So much better. I'm working on my own led light install now and now that I've seen your video, might try this in the small office area in house. Thanks for showing this product.
Pro-tip do not measure the last plank of each row, just reverse the board and mark directly on it. The same thing goes for laying floors. It's faster, lower chance on mistakes en more accurate.
Great job, what a transformation! You could put an Oatey access panel over the area for your water shut off. Would sit a little more flush with the wood and not bump out as much.
I really enjoy watching you both make improvements on your beautiful homes. Every project big or small makes a huge difference. Keep up the good work guys!
Both of you guys just keep getting more accomplished and versatile. Pretty soon Jason will be painting trim with one hand tied behind his back and one eye closed
So glad to see you change things up and show a project at YOUR house... and now we get, "Mmmmaaaarrrrrthaaaaaa!". I love it. Seriously though, after the carport looking thing, I was wondering if we'd ever get back to your house. Meanwhile, I STILL want to see Ray's project completed too.
Stellar work you gents ... Excellent editing and info graphics too Ray! Move over Erik ... Ray in da hizzay. See you in October gonna be back. WARNING XD. Make it pretty and make it always RAYJAY style. Blushing is one of the last sincere emotions ya can't fake ... and the wife blushed seeing the results.
Man, it is such shame that someone said something that made your wife not like her ceiling. Must of been disheartening. No matter what, I think your guys' home is beautiful, and all the things you guys keep doing for add-ons is doing nothing more then making your home all the more special. I love watching you guys grow, and all your improvements to your home. I always look forward to seeing your guys' next video. Cannot wait for the next one! I am already on edge waiting to see what you guys do next! Has me trying to do the same thing in my own home. Small suggestion, that little hole you cut out to access your pipes, I think it would be fun and entertaining to make a tiny little door that is magnetic so it stays up, but easy to access. It would not only be a fun conversation piece, but you can come up with funny reasoning for it as well. I did something similar to help my neighbors, and they love it, and call it their little door to Narnia.
@@stephanieellis1811 haha, well your new ceiling looks beautiful! Ray and Jason did an awesome job on it! Looking forward to seeing what the next "honey-do list" item is going to be! love these videos. Really encourages me to try to do my own improvements as well despite my skills at what it is.
this is a cool concept... it looks like your physically connecting the first one with screws... how about all the rest? are you screwing in every single one?
I'm confused by the clip remarks beginning at 11:51. Did you have to buy the clips you used on the grid separately, and what do the clips that come with the ceiling boards do? Thanks in advance.
They sent me separate clips that work with the drop down ceilings. The clips that come with it could be used to attach the planks to studs or rafters without seeing any nail holes. The clips would be hidden. Hope this helps.
I just wanted to say hi..I only found your channel( subscribed of course ) as I fell across the Perkins Brother and met you all and loved everything about your channels so spent the last week binge watching all your videos ( and perking brothers - I have time on my hands 😂🤷🏻♀️) so all caught up! This ceiling was a beautiful transformation ! 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
The channel that you are referring to is called wall moulding. your ceiling is called an acoustical ceiling. The material shift you are referring to is called deflection.
I found the key to installing crown molding is work more over time, cut coupons, eat out less and have coffee at home so I can pay someone who has 9 and a half fingers (no offense Jamie) to do it for me.
I did go over the whole track and make sure that everything was secure and that it was going to be strong enough. So I think I should be good. Push that stuff was not super heavy it’s just MDF
Jason and Ray great work! You guys have to come such a long way from your first video editing music to this video now. I’m always learning something new when I watch your channel. once more great work can’t wait to see the next one!
I came to this video because I want to take down my dropped ceilings. I didn’t expect to tear up because of how much you love and value your wife. Never change! You guys are goals.
Wow!! Thank you!
I would love to become a new subscriber!! Thanks for watching!

How hard is it to do? I have an older house with a drop ceiling and want to upgrade..

Love the 480 plank. First time seeing a complete install. Easy.
Nice big smile from the Mrs is even better.
So glad they talked you out of the mirrored ceiling.. This looks great..
🤣
Lol!!
100% improvement! It looks incredible. It will look good when it's a bonus room one day, too.
Looks great! Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
I'm an Acoustic tbar ceiling installer by trade and have done a few of these Armstrong ceiling systems. They always look good.
LOVED this one guys! Great job!
Note to self: If Mama ain't happy, no one is happy!
Omg! It looks gorgeous! I just recently found your channel after just finding the Perkins Bros. I could watch you guys ALL effing day!!
Do your best... Caulk the rest!!! Excellent job RJ!!!
I have the old fashion 1x1ft drop ceiling tiles in my kitchen and I hate it with a passion. Can’t wait to rip it down!

Yippie Ray-Jay with a new video!! Thank You guys!! Keep up the good work!!

Spackle and paint will make a carpenter what he ain't. Looks great Jason.
I've been realllllllly struggling on how to do my basement ceiling. You guys sold me on this. Thanks!!!!
Sweet!
That is gorgeous! Well done you do have a lot of build materials in US then we have in Sweden.
Jay will the Bedroom to renovate!
New Lamps and a new Ceiling, with Bords. Quick and Perfect Work but not Fun. Congratulation. 👍👌Greeting 🇦🇹

Your Wife looked like she loves it! Heck yeah 👍 Beautiful work Ray/Jay
The ceiling looks top notch brosephus! Woot woot!
Awesome job, guys, this new ceiling looks great! The video is edited very well too!
Ray did an awesome job helping you out.👍👍👍
Beautiful job, the quality in the work alone stands out
That's so cool.... I'm getting ready to build a man cave.... I plan to install these planks on my ceiling
Pro-tip do not measure the last plank of each row, just reverse the board and mark directly on it. The same thing goes for laying floors. It's faster, lower chance on mistakes en more accurate.
Great tip. This is exactly how I do floors. Flip it over longways, mark the back, cut, and install. No tape measure needed.
How does one find a Pro
One of the better videos you guys have done. Keep up the great work!

I watched your videos from the very beginning and now I’m caught up!! You guys have definitely gotten better at filming! Love the new roof jay!
We've put that Armstrong woodhaven in a couple Reno projects. Always looks great and really easy to install. 👍
Jason, you are the man!!!
Looks absolutely beautiful great job.
Jason, I’ve done moulding before and yours are looking great….. 😁🍺
Good job fellows.
Looks really good.
Wow that looks amazing!!! Great job guys
great job ray and jay
That was a 1-10 upgrade! Looks so nice! :D
Thanks.
Use a cold air return vent cover over the access you need. It looks way more normal than boxed out attic style drop in.
What an improvement, it came out really nice.

Absolutely perfect. Great work guys 👌😎🇦🇺
Wow! That is an amazing transformation. Great job!
Great video. That ceiling looks awesome.
Dude, that is spectacular
That house looks absolutely massive :o
3 generations plus foster children and lots of animals 😂 Very blessed to have a house that fits us all!
It's awesome - the house is huge, but also the land you have around it looks gorgeous
A tour video would be good 👍
Looks really good! Nice job!
Kinkos is/was a photo copy print shop. Not sure about the mainland but in Hawaii, our kinkos turned into fedex office. 🤙🏾🤙🏾
Yes. I think fedex bought them out, because the same happened here in AL

The secret to crown molding is simple, accurate measurements and accurate cuts. That's it.
i've been missing some rayjay builder buddies videos!
this is a cool concept... it looks like your physically connecting the first one with screws... how about all the rest? are you screwing in every single one?
No just the end ones. The ones in the field go together just like tongue and groove planks.
Wow builder buddy your doing great 👍🏾
Looks great. Good job.

Another top Job boys. Keep up the good work 👍👍
Looking great.
God bless.
Really nice result! Man, I would have loved a more in depth look at how you got the lights wired. That part’s a bit intimidating
Those new LED’s have clips on them where you can just stick the wires in them. Pretty easy really. Thanks for watching!
Turn out great ♥️ can't wait for the next project
Good 👍 job boys

Crown mold is easy! In my young days, put up 300 lf of wood crown a day!
