I was with Chris filming the sequence. Believe me, to see wild Ospreys this is the best place in Britain. At any one time we had upto 5 Ospreys circling over the loch. Obviously, its not so easy to show the numbers on a camera. This sequence was filmed in just a couple of hours. Chris was wearing a Balaclava so as to minimise the chance of the Ospreys being distracted by his presence. Very important as they are collecting fish to feed their young and so need to be as efficient as possible.
Beautiful. we see them down here on the Texas coast regularly, never that many at once, maybe 3 in an hour that I could identify as different birds. I'm amazed at how fast they fly with catch in claw. I've paced them in my truck at 45mph down the beach while he had an easy 3lb fish in it's claws.. Andrew
Seems more important that ospreys hold their prey straight to aid in escaping the *water* -- in this orientation the thrashing of the fish will provide additional thrust.
These could be the ones I see around here in Houston. On an unrelated note, Britian seems to have a lot of "The (insert common noun here)'s Guide to the (insert location here)."
wow, was a fast take off, i didnt even notice!!! use the fish to push you back up, damn, physics is complex lol, animals are so much smarter then we give them credit for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful creatures. Did I miss something, or why was there no mention of how the bird kills its prey almost instantly with the fearsome grip of the talons?
Yeah, I doubt the ski mask getup helps. Ospreys are incredibly smart and very wary. Some of the ospreys in my videos continuously steal glances at my camera. As the guy below me said, if you want to see a lot of ospreys together, go to Virginia. During the summer, the Chesapeake Bay area has the densest population of ospreys in the world.
@ammonoid Hi I'm Fabien from France, I'm going to England in June so is it possible to know where is that fabulous place ? or is it a secret ;-) Are the hide free or not ? Thank you. Fabien
He looks like he's about to rob a bank
he looks like he about to save people from burning building and then freeze policemen
I thought the same lol

My two year old son loves watching these videos for some reason lol. Thanks!
"Jolly Good shake" LOL
Truly beautiful birds. We see them all the time in Florida, but never that many at once.

Magikarp fainted!

The IRA goes bird watching
Underrated comment. LMAO
Was thinking the same thing
They are such beautiful raptors. I’ve seen a few of them in my life.
Imagine being the owner of the fish farm and seeing your profits fly way 👏
A fish farm? Now those ospreys might be facing the fishkeeper’s wrath!
Love ❤️ the Osprey
Wow! What a lovely shots
Incredible video.
Saw one of these bad boys in action down here in Tchefuncte River yesterday
What do you mean "never seen this many osprey"? There were 2!!!
We mostly see ospreys high up in the trees in the park
My mom saw these birds on a lampost near Harrison Bay
Ross Kemp walks into a gangland warfare scene in the British countryside has been ambushed by a new menace:
The Ospreys!
come to ontario, loads of osprey all over

This fella apparently never came to Fredericksburg, Virginia. We have 6 breeding pairs that hit the Rapahannock river from April thru early June.
@digitalemeles There is Rutland Water, Loch Garten and occasionally the Norfolk Broads where you can find ospreys!
0:30 We know you're not exactly Brad Pitt, Chris.. but isn't this taking it a bit too far?
lol

that fish must be wondering what the the f*ck is going on when all of a sudden it's flying through the air

When u have to host a BBC tv show and rob a bank afterwards.

I was kind of expecting Marines to hover above the lake and catch some fish.
😍😍😍

Thank you.
Fabien
well all u gotta do is come to lido beach, ny and ull see packs of osprey
I feel like im watching an BBC news report on the IRA
While wearing a ski mask, did he really say, get your head into it?
Does it have VTOL capabilities?
Yes I guess but that one owned by US Navy can't dive lol
lol have you ever seen an osprey? ive read this many times and never found it to be true in the wild at all.
I'm guessing he thinks it's cold out...
Hey they're human too :3
Birds?
Yeah, the mask is a bit silly. I've seen osprey hunting while parked in a car near a pond.
I swear, they sell a very specific ski mask over there in the UK ya can’t get anywhere else…
@thePirateQueenKt Chris Packham, obviously :D :D
sushi!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like: If you noticed the telemetry !!
josh(falconer)
I was hoping that he would explain that.
@DahRecruit Then why is he doing so?
@digitalemeles You'd be better of in Africa or Asia, if you had the patience to wait for days to put such footage together and somebody to pay for it.
This is the creation of Allāh. So show Me what those other than Him have created. Rather, the wrongdoers are in clear error.
Is that Ted Cruz narrating?
"its a brilliant place to get your head inside that of a hungry osprey".
Covering yourself in fish guts might have worked better than the camouflage .
I only watch videos of lovely animals... I don't watch political news. lol
do u need to rob the bank?
That's fine, but y r u wearing underwear on ur face? 😂
Why would you deliver this wearing a ski mask?...
@thePirateQueenKt Because he in his ignorance believes the birds are as dumb as he.
seems like the fishes were already dead. Who are you trying to fool bbc lol
