One of the many things I love about Jujutsu Kaisen is that, for how transgressive and esoteric it is, and despite how dark it gets, it's still a Shonen through and through. It's still got that Shonen ideal of people improving themselves, only in this series, it's almost never through physical training. Where other Shonen just have characters do a bunch of sparring, push-ups, and random trials that increase some nebulous metric of power, in JJK, characters undergo life-changing conflicts or even just conversations that give them a new perspective that allows them to evolve as people. In that sense, it's inspired me to change and grow as a person more than any other Shonen. And in a similar way, it delivers some of the hypest, most pulse-pounding fight scenes of any Shonen Jump headliner, current or former. Kashimo vs. Hakari is the most fun I've ever had reading a fight from week to week, rivaled only by the fight after it, and it never feels like a slugfest with no strategy or like there's no stakes or themes involved. Jujutsu Kaisen is a very smart series, but a very fun one as well, and it gets its sometimes more, sometimes less traditional Shonen themes across by pairing them with some of the most kickass fight scenes you can find right now.
