Nick iced his own kicker by not allowing him to put up those points then expecting him to score a 57+ clutch FG 😂 but let’s put that on the player for not executing smh
Exactly - John is an idiot. Nick is incoherent in his game management and situational awareness. He ignores points regularly - that is indisputable... not just this week, but multiple games. How many games have the Eagles played that they have blown out their opponents? This team has played some nailbiters that should have been wins by more than 1 TD. Nick lost the Falcons game by ignoring easy points and taking too many risks in a game that was close. He very nearly lost the Jags game giving up easy points - you get some bad breaks and the defense has some hiccups (as it usually does) - and then suddenly all the points passed up become an issue. This isn't a great team, so you can't afford to leave points on the field... that is all on the coaching of Sirianni.
So it's nicks fault the players can't get 1 yard multiple times...nicks job is backing his players and taking blame from media and fans like you, seems like he does a good job
You guys are post game arm chair coaching based on the results, not on the in the moment data that says run the tush push because it has an 85% chance of working. That is the data that the coach had to make the decision plus the fact the opposition had not moved the ball in 40 minutes of playing. Tush push will most likely work and if it fails, so what, they can hardly move the ball anyway. It did work and the refs blew the calls.

Not a fan of Sileo, but you've got to read the situation. The Eagles didn't need to go for those 2 pt conversions, just take the extra point each time. So at halftime it should have been 17-0 and then in the 3rd they score and go up 24-0. So then at 1:25 in the game, its 22-16 and the birds go for it on 4th and 1 at the Jacksonville 25...WHY? Kick the field goal and it is 25-16. If they had the earlier points, its actually 27-16. At this point with the Devonta TD it is 34-16 and this is a completely different game.
Exactly. By gambling against worse teams while you're ahead you give them an opportunity and hope. Every point matters. The crazy thing is that real gambling additional goes for it on 4th and inches later lmao. The one that was most obviously needing a shove , he decidido to to some other bs one the edge. We need to use it 3-5 time a game tops. By over using it and Jason kelce speaking about it, people have adapted a lot. Do it when we need it and it won't hurt if it fails. not at every opportunity
And probably resting your starters with 5 minutes left in the 4th but instead ur risking injury on your work horse rb while your wr 1 is out is dumbest shit I've seen
Agreeing with Silz on this one, this wasn't a hindsight vision here. Go for the points, you're up and could extend your lead further. People aren't going to hate Nick for taking points because that isn't bad coaching.
I almost never agree with John on anything but I do see exactly what he saying about the 2 tush pushes at the goal line. They have been making these so why wouldn't you do it. It's easy to say it was a bad decision when you know now they didn't make them. You wouldn't think a play they've been making wouldn't work against a bad team.
@@krobinson8627 Exactly. Because you're a mature adult, not some unhinged emotionally unstable fan who takes the 90% success we have on those 4th downs completely for granted, but is ready to have a whole meltdown the 10% of the time we don't make it. Meanwhile, other coaches lose every week in the NFL by being too scared and punting and taking three points instead of going for it, as we literally saw in this exact same game with Doug Peterson.
Gotta disagree with you John. The tush push has been noticeably less effective this season. Its barely getting a 1 to 1.5 yards when the team is full strength when in the past it was getting easily 2+ with Kelce. This game with multiple injuries on the O line, Nick shouldn't have gone back to it after it got stuffed.
But what is the success percentage on the very same play? At about 85% its a good decision to try it, especially if you feel confident if it fails you will still beat a team this bad.
@bodasactra but we can not use it when they're is any risk. Especially when we are in the lead against bad teams. If it fails it is always a huge momentum setting and the more we do it the less effective it is. Our line isnt as durable and unstoppable anymore. If we use it when we need it and play smart, we may lose theoretical points on the board, but we will get a lot of easy points and keep the momentum on our side. I love the play but if we use it 40% less it will be better.
@@Bentley7Cruize You just talked yourself into a pretzel. Either you're aggressive, or you're not. You can't be aggressive when it's "safe." That's an oxymoron. He has a point. With the past personnel as well as the novelty of the play the success rate is likely skewed.… they don’t practice the play full contact so if this is them practicing and doing recon I can accept it bc right now it’s probably as safe as any other qb sneak.
John definitely don't like Silz...ive been noticing that John been so frustrated with him lately with his takes. I wonder how long these guys are going to last together 😂
Dan is right and John is wrong here. The Tush Push is effective w/ 1 yard or less to go- twice today they went for it when more than a yard to go. Also John fails to acknowledge one of the Tush Pushes was called when we were down to our 3rd string Tackle when Fred Johnson was out. NOBODY besides John and Eskin will think Nick Siriani coached a good game. Watch the National coverage this week.
McMullen once again playing the contrarian in order to pretend he's smarter than everyone else. Everything Sirianni did in this game gives any reasonable person the sense that he's trying to prove something. These are the sort of desperate calls a person makes when they feel as though they've become irrelevant. The game was close because of the freaking head coach's decisions. If he kicks the field goals and kicks even two of the extra points, it's 36-22 at the end of the game. The guy is becoming a liability. Period.

@@Hemingway-dq4fx Statistics are a part of everything in life, ESPECIALLY high level professional sports. If you know how probability and statistics work you know that in the long term the outcome that is more likely to happen outweights the one less likely to happen. It's simple as that. It failed today and "Nick sucks", but after the season is over and the numbers are gathered, the right choice would've always been to for 2 in the 1 yard line. You will never find a better opportunity to go for it in the regular season winning by 2 possessions against a struggling 2-6 Jaguars team from the 1 yard line. They line up in the 2pt conversion to draw a penalty FOR THAT REASON, they WANT that look, they want that opportunity, they will ALWAYS go for it and logic (math) backs them up. It's simple to understand. We can make a deal, I'm willing to go back in time and take the points for you in this game, if you're willing to go back in time and kick the FG instead of calling the Philly Special in the Superbowl. Do you take this deal?
@@Ocean5ix If you think Nick is not emotional then you must be blind lmao. Also your deal makes no sense, you realize you can CHOOSE when to be aggressive right? This isn't some all-or-nothing thing where you need to either be aggressive every game or be super conservative every game. Every game is different and requires different strategies to succeed. Against bad offenses, it's better to play it safe and just take the points, because chances are the bad offense you are facing won't be able to catchup or outduel you in a shootout. Had Nick just taken the points the Eagles would have been up 27-0 in the 3rd quarter and in all likelihood the Jags would have pulled their starters and the game would have never gotten close. Instead we left it within reach for a bad team to come back. Always take the points when you play bad teams, don't let them hang around all game Now, when you play a GOOD TEAM, for example in the SB...then you should be aggressive and go for as many points as possible. Why? Because chances are both teams are gonna be in a shootout and have the ability to go blow for blow so it makes sense to try and be as aggressive as possible.
@@lordlubu3029 I never said Nick is not emotional, I said he doesn't make decisions based on emotion. And "choosing to be agressive" is not how statistics work. You have to be aggressive every time you have the perfect opportunity to be aggressive, it's simple to understand. You know that the QB usually can change a play depending on the look the defense gives him, right? He does it because if he can change to a play that beats the defense he saw, he has a BETTER CHANCE of having a positive play. It's the exact same thing. If you have a 2pt conversion from the 1, you take it. You don't need to think about context or who the opponent is, you're in the perfect situation to do it. Then do it. "Against bad offenses, it's better to play it safe and just take the points, because chances are the bad offense you are facing won't be able to catchup or outduel you in a shootout." Let me spin your argument: Against bad offensese it's better to risk and go for it and score more points to get a better lead PRECISELY because they won't be able to catch up or outduel you in a shootout".
Bro you can't possibly sweep how bad the coaching decisions have been under the rug just cuz we won. Sure it's great we're still in the divisional race with all the wins we can get, but at some point you gotta realize we have no chance to do win the division with coaching like THAT

Taking the high percentage play is right and the tush push is 85% successful. They did make it in once and got robbed. John is right, Sileo is reacting after the bad result not to the high percentage decision. I would have went tush push against those bums as well.
It's hard for me to listen to John lately. Sirianni is always saying fundamentals then he calls goofball plays instead of taking the points when you're ahead.
He's successful on those calls 90% of the time. If you're not going to celebrate him the 90% of the time, stfu on the 10% of the time he doesn't get it. Fair?

@ike.o6944 We would have never gotten even close to the Super Bowl with that kind of thinking and never will. So glad the coaches and players don't think like the weak minded and overly emotional fans. We'd be average at best if they did. Dan Campbell did the exact same thing last year and literally lost the game in Dallas, went for it over and over again and was denied. They don't care how the fans think of them like most coaches. They have their philosophy and they're going to follow it no matter what. That's how they keep ending up in big games. They don't care how it looks to the fanbase. I respect it. Especially when Sianni literally has a 90% success rate in those situations. He's not about to change up because some nobody in Pennsylvania thinks he's stupid.

Exactly correct, making the decision to go for it in that moment cannot be judged by the result after it failed. The data says go for it, the bad results says idiot.
I finally accept we are not winning the Super Bowl this year and one big reason is bc the fans are too occupied with being anti Siriani. Everyone is waiting for Nick to make 1 mistake so they can jump. No one even mentions Barkley fumbling. That was a problem. You don’t get to a Super Bowl in that type of environment created by the fans. And you don’t get to a superbowl by changing the coach halfway through the season. Too much disruption in the environment to succeed.
All he's saying is this stupid fanbase always calls it bad coaching when something Sirianni does successfully 90% of the time happens to not work on occasion. By the way, they never thank him for the 90%. Worst fanbase in the NFL, easily. It's not even close.
John McMullen does not work for the organization. He just knows that he'll feel like a moron if he tries to get upset with a guy for falling short 10% of the time on something that he has 90% success with. He'll feel like a stupid, emotionally unstable, toxic, fan.
Same! He’s not making logical sense… this isn’t Madden 25’… this is real football… don’t worry… later in the season these situations will come up again and bite this team… and then I want to hear what John has to say about it… no other coach in the national football league is doing the things Sirianni is doing.

McMullen is a clown. It's obvious to anyone with eyeballs and an Iq of at least 60 that Siriani made terrible decisions. Siriani himself literally almost cost them the game. The Eagles' talent bailed him out. Siriani should be an assistant coach for a high school team.
It's obvious only to people that live in a world where math doesn't exist. You will NEVER find yourself in a better opportunity to go for 2 than in the 1 yard line against a 2-6 Jaguars team in the regular season ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ These are the kinds of plays that are right when they work and wrong when they don't. I don't see a single Eagles fan having the balls to say the Philly Special was "a terrible deicion". Yet, the funny thing is that ALL of the calls in this game game had a better argument behind them than the Philly Special did. The difference is that the Philly Special worked and now Doug and Foles have a statue, if it didn't work and the Eagles lost the Superbowl, instead of a statue, Doug would have a rag doll with his likeness hanging at the neck from a bridge.
@@lordlubu3029The eagles are the best in the NFL at using the tush push. They’re playing against the jaguars. In the moment I want the eagles to go for it like they did every single time. Those "bad decisions" came from the analytics department upstairs, not from Nick but guys in the know like John can't tell you that on UA-cam Nick's job is to take the heat when it goes wrong, nothing more. That's why we will never get a Bill Belichick type coach with his own system and staff, they won't agree to that kind of arrangement. So firing Nick is like pouring a beer and then switching it to a new cup before drinking it, no point, you get the same result.
Jake Elliot is 0-3 from 50+ yards. He’s lost his ability to hit long ones. The choice to try the field goal was bad. On the coach.the choice to go for 2 instead of kicking extra points, bad coaching choices. The tush push is done. Everybody is on to it. Not hindsight, I was yelling at the time at the computer screen
Maybe is he has an opportunity to take some shorter kicks he will be in rhythm to make the longer ones. That’s usually how it works. He just called him in to take that kick to try and bail him out of the bullshit calls he made earlier in the game. Our kicker/special teams is losing valuable in season reps and then get called upon to save a game that didn’t need saving if he does the right thing.
The tush push is still a very high percentage play, and at 40 minutes into the game, you have held the opposition to almost no yards all game, f*ck it, they can't move the ball anyway. It was the right decisions to try it. You are judging the results and not the odds of success before the attempt.
I think Jake Elliot was iced for having kicked NO fg's when he should have kicked atleast 2 by then. Jake hasnt lost the ability. He is just always iced because Eagles keep going for it when they shouldnt. The tush push is not done, it was just used incorrectly and Nick is overconfident in it. But tush push would have worked on 4th and inches all day, but coach decided to throw it?! That was crazy bad!! Tush push also worked on one of these 2 point conversions that the refs took away, but you don't even try it on 4th and 3 and they did. That's just plain overconfidence. They used to never do tush-pushes if it was 2 or more yards with Kelce. Dont know why they think they can do that now. Obviously they cant and I hope they dont try that sh!t again!
This dude has a point. People bashing the two 2 pt conversions. They have been 90% on the tush push. How the hell is the coach not going to go for it? Ofcourse he is. Siriani is responsible for not kicking the first field goal and the last 2 pt conversion. That's 4 points. They got robbed on a bullshit fumble returned for a TD. If the stupid refs don't call that it's not even close. If jake makes the field goal it's a 8 point game. Coach is always the blame. How about the o line get the push and get the 2 pt conversions. There Blame to go around.
Sirriani could go for 4 and 87 with 5 seconds up and up by 1 point, and John would say "players need to execute that and get that first down" and sillz feeling he had to apologize to this headcoaches lacky is BS
JM is an Eagles Management Apologist. I don’t care for Sileo a lot of the time but he’s right on this one concerning coaching. The coach is putting the team in a worse position than necessary which puts them in more vulnerable positions than necessary.
Johnny Mac clearly has his own agenda. The dude is on here arguing that Sirianni called a good game. They were blowing the Jags out. There is no reason why you go for multiple 2 point plays and not kicking those field goals. None
It’s Nicks fault Barkley dropped the pass vs falcons it’s Nicks fault Aj, devonte and lane are out vs bucs it’s Nicks fault refs call a dumb fumble on Barkley and jags do a good job stopping a play that you are always comfortable to call, I agree with John everyone is always quick to cry about coaching it’s a DAMN 2 POINT PLAY OFF A PENALTY
Kick the extra points . Kick the fgs . Were up over 36-0 the game is over starters sit . That game was way to close for no reason . Its as simple as that . Terrible
I don’t feel like this guy John is the brightest guy in the universe. He doesn’t really seem to legitimately grasp the ineptitude by sirianj. It’s almost like he’s picking a side sticking to it even with the rebuttals. He appears to be very dense. 😊
Players saving nick job....nick so busy trying to prove something, he almost cost us games or have caused us to lose... he did it last season after that win vs KC ,coached under andy but tried to prove he can be the man ,but it backfired, now tonight he tried the same thing with Doug because Doug vouched for nick to get the HC job....Nick was a DB/WR. coach in college, even coached Shady McCoy brother, just from the experiences he think he knows everything... he too cocky&Arrogant, thats why Andy fired him(nick) in KC,...even frank Reich mentored Him in indy plus sandiego. but sirriani learned nothing...he shouldn't be given a pass or favoritism because he has a winning record, because winning can mask some weaknesses &b.s.....Doug got fired even after winning a superbowl, so nick not immune
Why would you think Nick has the power to make those calls? The Eagles have a huge analytics department making those decisions upstairs based on percentage data, Nick followers orders. Its not the plays its the decisions like to go for it or not. Moore does most of the plays and calls. You can easily tell when its an analytics call disguised as Nick.
Don't guess if he takes orders, know if he does. Look into it. Many times the local host admit it here and there but its on the down low. He is mandated to defer to the analytics department in certain situations, only doing the HC duties a data department can't. Moore has some real control but he is mostly for play design not so much for decision making. The Eagles have a huge analytics department, probably the biggest in the NFL, making many in game calls.

I don't think he's getting the first but get close, but I think he runs out in the process cause of the angle. He prioritized staying in bounds which I get.
Part of what John is missing is that the defense only gave up 14 points in a game where the offense out gained the Jags by 200+ they did their job, they needed the “run support” of the offensive decision making. Sirianni kept it a 2 possession game for too long all day.
Two points. Jags played above their ability after the tush push was unsuccessful. “We can win this game!” The Eagles gave them life. On the last tush push I noticed that no one on the jags went low. They all went over the top. Our center is usually covered by 3 or 4 defenders. Instead of going low the defense dove above the o line. That’s where Hurts usually goes as he did Sunday. He was not able to extend the ball and break the plane.
I wonder if Seriani would have tried the field goal if it was an easier kick and didn't risk field position. He's like a gambler using someone else's money. He likes to take a dare and is still living the Eagles-Bills game of last year.
Yall have to realize Jmac job depends on keeping best friends with eagles organization He will always be bias against coaches and whatever else has to do with eagles..
Because Zander and Dan's point still stands. The Jags WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN BACK IN THE GAME if Nick took the damn points. If Nick just took the points it would have been 27-0 in the 3rd and the Jags would have pulled their starters most likely, or at the very least even if they scored they would still be 3 scores down instead of just 1.
All I’m going to say is this, we we left 9 points on the field and that would’ve been PLENTY to put then to sleep by the 4th. There was a reason we were all biting our nails after the 2 minute warning. Players didn’t execute perfectly on 4th. No excuse.
@@Bentley7Cruize It's not "gambling", it's statistics.

Agreeing with Silz on this one, this wasn't a hindsight vision here. Go for the points, you're up and could extend your lead further. People aren't going to hate Nick for taking points because that isn't bad coaching.
Zero reason to be going for two..just take your points. Arrogant play calling that lost you 9 pts.
Especially on 4th and 3, and not doing it on 4th and inches! Crazy!!
7pts the refs took 2
I agree with Silz. The coaching decisions are bad. It's like the Eagles have to play their opponent plus Sirianni.
Sirianni had a horrible game. His decision making was atrocious yesterday. Atrocious!!!!!
Sileo is 100% in the right here
Man he is a bit harsh but he certainly is entertaining and engaging 😂
10000000% agree.
Actually agree with Dan lolz
You can't even sniff a championship without being aggressive. But aggressiveness is risky. That's the nature of it. If you don't have the stomach for it, go root for the Pittsburg Steelers. They love punting and kicking field goals.
He has a point. With the past personnel as well as the novelty of the play the success rate is likely skewed.… they don’t practice the play full contact so if this is them practicing and doing recon I can accept it bc right now it’s probably as safe as any other qb sneak.

I think it’s time for McMullen to retire.
Jalen got the 1st one tbh
McMullen once again playing the contrarian in order to pretend he's smarter than everyone else. Everything Sirianni did in this game gives any reasonable person the sense that he's trying to prove something. These are the sort of desperate calls a person makes when they feel as though they've become irrelevant. The game was close because of the freaking head coach's decisions. If he kicks the field goals and kicks even two of the extra points, it's 36-22 at the end of the game. The guy is becoming a liability. Period.
You're clueless if you think decisions made on the sideline are based on emotion. Fans are emotional, professional teams are logical.
@@Ocean5ix Logical? What about Sirianni's behavior gives you a sense the guy isn't overly emotional? It might come as a shock to you, but those guys on the sidelines are humans, not characters in your Madden gaming session.
Always take the points when you play bad teams, don't let them hang around all game
Now, when you play a GOOD TEAM, for example in the SB...then you should be aggressive and go for as many points as possible.
Sileo is 💯 right on this. Can’t back Nick today. His coaching was atrocious today
Look, not All the calls are going to work. So, what's important is the final results. A win is a win is a win period.!!!!
Bro you can't possibly sweep how bad the coaching decisions have been under the rug just cuz we won. Sure it's great we're still in the divisional race with all the wins we can get, but at some point you gotta realize we have no chance to do win the division with coaching like THAT
The win is not the point. Its great Eagles won but the point is that if they continue to do that bs play-calling into a December, guess what? They LOSE!

This was such a badass and fun exchange! Go Jmac and Silz!

This happens a dozen times around the league every week.
You will NEVER find yourself in a better opportunity to go for 2 than in the 1 yard line against a 2-6 Jaguars team in the regular season ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
These are the kinds of plays that are right when they work and wrong when they don't.

I think it more that we don’t use him so he’s lackey

If the stupid refs don't call that it's not even close. If jake makes the field goal it's a 8 point game. Coach is always the blame. How about the o line get the push and get the 2 pt conversions.
Yall have to realize Jmac job depends on keeping best friends with eagles organization
He will always be bias against coaches and whatever else has to do with eagles..
No it doesn’t, not at all
John McMullen isn't the only one agreeing with Nick Sirianni. Dave Spadaro & Howard Eskin also agree Nick is correct.
John literally explained how they got back in the game and Zander and Dan still asking the same question
@@lordlubu3029 No, bud.🤦♂
All I’m going to say is this, we we left 9 points on the field and that would’ve been PLENTY to put then to sleep by the 4th. There was a reason we were all biting our nails after the 2 minute warning. Players didn’t execute perfectly on 4th. No excuse. As a coach you’re supposed to weigh your options, and manage the game based off of who is in front of you
To say that people who criticize Nick Sirianni are just emotional is patronizing and empirically he’s deserving of all criticism he’s received nationally this year.
Every single ex nfl coach, ex nfl player and national sports reporters are saying Sirianni is a clown for his decisions. But I guess John is the only one that knows
Big of SILZ to apologize to John! You usually piss me off but I'm proud of you hear!! Classy
What happened to the Occam's razor talk?
When the whole crowd is booing a coaching decision with the LEAD, which is the simpler explanation:
Everyone in the stadium is stupid except for Nick & John.
Or
They were bad calls.
John, John, John, there’s NO WAY you can justify Nick’s coaching decisions in this game! Stop it! Nick has to learn to READ THE ROOM!
The result is meaningless, it makes no sense to not just make it a 3 possession game with the extra point rather than go for two. Regardless of how successful the tush push has been
