Charming accent, so much more personal than the written text banners, and when you say ‘’delightful’’ to describe something, it feels so honest and real. An excellent upgrade !
Great video Thibault! No need to be nervous about the new format. Really great to hear your insights and tips. As a regular viewer it's cool to hear you share your opinions and get an idea of how things stack up relative to each other. Keep up the good work!
Love this new format Simply! Having these types of narrated comparison videos, as well as a mix of your usual unnarrated train reviews will definitely help with the UA-cam Algorithm, as well as helping people book and encourage taking trains more often! Maybe here are some topics you could cover in future videos... -Top Five of the best HSR in Europe -Top Five Second Class/Coach seats -Top Five First Class seats etc...
It was nice to see a narrated video from you. You've done a great job. It's nice to see a personal view of your journeys, and to also get a comparison as well. Comparing night trains in the Americas would make a good video.
This has been a fantastic video! As a German who has lived both near Trondheim and in Stockholm, I travelled by night train between the countries a lot in the past few months, so I really wish more people would do so instead of taking a plane everytime... And I absolutely agree that Snälltåget's services are amazing, even if you want to go further than Stockholm in Sweden. One of my best memories is taking the night train from Trondheim to Bodø and then the ferry to Lofoten in the summer, I almost felt bad for sleeping and missing the amazing views :D We couldn't afford more than seats as a students though haha, but I was surprised by how cheap that was compared to anything else in Norway actually! Really hope i'll be able to take the other trains of the video at some point, the one to sicily looks so cool, it is sad they don't have something like that between Denmark and Germany anymore
Brilliant post I’m hooked again for sleeper trains again, I’d read some pretty poor reviews about excess noise and poor service but you’ve restored my confidence in trains once more, I’m 74 in a few months and I’m letting my wife know where I want to be when I wake up, I think at the minute the Berlin or Hamburg to Stockholm is favourite, thanks again
I thoroughly enjoyed this. You provided the type of information I'm interested in. Thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm, insights, honesty and humor. 🛤
Excellent video with a lot of tips and tricks. Fifty years ago as a student I traveled all over Europe and my two friends and I spent a lot of nights on trains. This video excits me to go back and ride some of these routes.
Phenomenal video. I’ve watched and enjoyed a lot of your earlier videos but these rankings are really helpful in prioritizing potential future trips. Merci beaucoup!!!
Well done Thibault! This was a really interesting video with really good insight about night trains! I really like both this format of video along with your trip report videos.
Oh my gosh! I love the pics when you were little!! Also, I know you prefer not narrating, and resent the algorithms, but I personally enjoy your narration. Also, hearing your preferences are so fun. I think your background in engineering gives you a great insight and perspective. You do an amazing job for our benefit. Merci!
Bravo! Thank you for this captivating video. I will watch it twice. I must try to ride the ferry train to Sicily. I will look at your history of videos because I only learned of Simply Railway a short time ago.
Good work again, thanks. As for your book: Splendit! I have to contain myself, because I reserved it for my next trip in a few months, to read it on the Nightjet from Amsterdam to Innsbruck, traveling to Bologna. And in spite of your (quite obvious) top 5, I for one am still in love with ÖBB and not only for their Nightjets. Their daytime Railjets are the best train experience I ever had!
Brilliant video Thibault. Only done the Caledonian Sleeper so far but definitely plan to head to mainland Europe for some sleeper trains this summer. Such a shame the British network is so limited when there’s the Euro tunnel
I love night trains. This video has me feeling wanderlust. I did a ferry train from Copenhagen to Hamburg & then a night jet to Vienna before. It was pretty cool
Great video. Sadly, Caledonian Sleeper Train isn't on the list, but I'm definitely agree with all of Top 5 in this video + honourable mention for Nightjet and Optima Express. Can't wait for your book available in English, so it will be easy to translate into other languages. Next how about top 5 Amtrak long distance train.
Great video! As you explained it's also to feed the YT algorithm, but it works well. Now I want to take the night train to Kopenhagen :-) If I may just offer one advice, there's a lot of reverb in the audio which makes it a bit harder to follow. Finding a recording space with less reverb or using e.g. a lav mic might really benefit this type of video with mostly naration.
The nightjet Wien - Roma would be great but is often very delayed. During the day, Italian high speed trains offer a decent and reliable service, but at night RFI seems to do all the track maintenance without caring for the timelyness of night trains. You cannot rely on the arrival time which makes these trains not as great as they could be.
I loved this video :) I'd suggest to maybe include on the thumbnail that its a narrated top 5 list, as that on the one hand is quite unique from your channel and on the other hand list format videos get lots of views :)
It would be interesting to see some trains like Amtrak's California Zephyr going between e.g. Madrid and Stockholm non-stop. With sleeper compartments, dining cars and maybe some viewer cars
I love and hate Europe. I was fascinated by the stunning scenery and rich history, but I was overwhelmed by the high cost. I think trainpal's discount coupon saved me.
This is really great, thank you. We are planning a train journey throughout Italy this Summer and this helps alot with the Roma > Sicily. And of course the added bonus of a great night train is saving the cost of a hotel room! I live in Scotland, and I am grateful you did NOT include the Caledonian Sleeper to London - truly the worst night train anywhere. Merci !!
Tremendous video. I loved your ‘sick’ flying joke! Two tips: on the Night Riviera from Penzance to London you can remain in your bed until 0645 which is nicer than 0500! And on the ferry train to Sicily the toilets are locked closed while the train is on board the ferry, which is quite a long time if you are desperate 😁 (of course, you can put on some clothes and find a toilet on the ferry).
Thanks Man 👍 I believe in the future of night trains and I hope they will land a lot of planes. Last days I read about Italian government plans to build a bridge between Sicily and mainland Italy so the days of the last ferry trains are counted. With the new bridge I believe they can cut at least 90 min
Totally agree with you re the Riviera, the Caledonian is now too expensive since they launched the new trains £200+, plus they're not as comfortable as the old carriages. We used Thello in 19, it was horrible, booked a twin berth, and we were dumped into a 4 person couchette instead.
Hey Thibault!!! I live in Penzance.. Its "Mount's Bay" not "the Bay of Penzance "..😅.Thanks for the lovely review both of the Night Riviera and Penzance. We're very proud of the night train Abut 10 years ago GWR thought about killing it off but instead they wisely decided to refurbish the rolling stock and now its popular all the year round.
Intercity Notte was decent for the price. I paid 79 or so Euros for a sole occupancy sleeper on each segment (Milan to Naples and Rome to Venice) and it was just so convenient. Granted it was not the best night of sleep I've had, but it was far cheaper than getting a hotel.
Look, I've been watching your videos for a few years now. And I'll be honest, I LOVE this new style of video!! It's always difficult to try something new, it's always a risk. I think it works for your brand of content. Bravo as always T!!!!
Great job on this video! I really enjoy the verbal commentary. You said you are proud of this video and you should be! Thanks for all you do! Roll safe
Really nice and interesting video. Your accent was a bit hard to understand at times, but I think it was mainly because of some echo in the room maybe. I`ve never been to a night train, and here in Spain they unfourtunately discontinued them. So only way to go to some places by train is by doing 12+ hours during the day, which is lame.
Hi Thibault, great video. With the GWR sleeper towards London, yes it does get in at 05.09 (too ealy for anyone ;0)) but I believe you can stay on board till 06.30.... or is it 07.00? It was 07.00 in 2003. Agree, it's an amazing journey!
I absolutely loved this, so well done! The fact that you are commenting makes it really personal and all the journeys look great! Hope to get to do them all sone day!
Since you don't like seats in night trains, the Caledonian Sleeper has a good service I think. The seat reclines, lights are dimmed and if you cannot sleep there is always the lounge car.
Thank you so much for sharing, very useful information!❤ By the way I know of a train ticket discount if someone is planning to travel by Eurostar, hope it helps!
Excellent work, excellent summary. I had already seen I think all of them, but the summary and the advice on fares and schedules were very good. Congratulations and thank you. 🇺🇾
That English journey sounds so interesting. I didn't know you could even ride on a train in England for a fair price. The problem is what to do when you arrive at that small remote town.
Hi holygooff. There's a fair amount to do, plus you could use it as a base to explore the whole of Cornwall, which is an amazing English county - very much like Brittany in France
Thank you for this amazing video ! I have a question about the night riviera sleeper. You say it is only 6£ to upgrade from the seat to the bed, but when I try booking a ticket, even at the cheapest the upgrade is in the 50is £, and often at 100£…did things changed ? Or is there something I miss here ?
CLAP, CLAP CLAP. Love the new format, and the best part, seeing Thibault. BTW, I bought the German edition of your book. Can't wait for it to arrive. Now all I have to do is get back to Europe again so I can ride these trains.
This is fantastic! I love hearing you talking and explaining things. Before we had to read, and then I missed seeing the picture that was on. I think that people will learn more by doing your videos this new way. Hats off to you for doing this and not giving up. Great and fantastic job!!! Can't wait to see your next video!
Is there a way to purchase your book on sleeper trains? Olive in Australia and cannot find the book in the shop. Your's is the best train review channel and again you've proved why!
Awesome video. Pairs very well with your book! :) Personally I’ve done three night train trips and all were great - Cologne-Vienna, Helsinki to Rovaniemi, and Hamburg to Stockholm. I really enjoyed each one and will now always look if a night train is an option to get my destination before booking any other means.
Riding the trains especially in and throughout Europe would be an adventure and especially if you are traveling at night time seeing the countryside when it is asleep and in your own cabin where you soon will be asleep as well and what an experience that would be, Thank You for the videos and have a great weekend on the trains. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💨👍
I think this video was great - super informative, and while it has that "Top 5" kind of vibe you were talking about in yesterday's video, it has a bunch of great information that "normal" ride reviews don't include. I enjoy the ride reviews, but this one was even more informative. Also cool - I think I have seen 4 of the 5 trips on this video. In fact - I was explaining to my wife about the overnight ferry train to Sicily just 2 weeks ago - because I learned about it on your channel. I am looking forward to this monthly installment! "Congrats, Simply Railway!" 🙂

Great video Thibault! No need to be nervous about the new format. Really great to hear your insights and tips. As a regular viewer it's cool to hear you share your opinions and get an idea of how things stack up relative to each other. Keep up the good work!
Either narrated or subtitled, your videos are a treat!

Maybe here are some topics you could cover in future videos...

-Top Five Second Class/Coach seats
-Top Five First Class seats

My neighbor rode the Lapland Express a month ago and loved it.
All you needed was a music track under your narration.
Very enjoyable piece!
Thank you Michael :-)
It was nice to see a narrated video from you. You've done a great job. It's nice to see a personal view of your journeys, and to also get a comparison as well. Comparing night trains in the Americas would make a good video.
Thank you :-)

Train will be faster and has more scenery on the way🥹 and with discount the price will be affordable as well😂
Hi could you please outline the route you took? And the tickets purchased from?
you mean Trondheim to Lofotrn by train?
I agree with the other comments Thibault. Your new format is great and I love the narration thanks for your great videos!
Very good comprehensive video, Thibault- thank you!
Thanks for this video. Your love of night trains shines through . I love them too.
Merci! My daughter and I are planning a night train trip but just can't decide on where! So this is very helpful 😊
I understand why one would want to take a night train. But I dont want to miss any scenery! Great vid!
Well done Thibault! This was a really interesting video with really good insight about night trains! I really like both this format of video along with your trip report videos.
Wonderful overview! Have not had much success sleeping on night trains, especially from Schengen to Non-Schengen countries
Going to Non-Schengen countries is always tough...
I like this new format!
Last year I took my first night train (Nightjet to Basel), and I loved it. Slept very well!
Brilliant video. You are an excellent producer. Thankyou.
Both thumbs up for this comparative overview of European sleeper trains :)
Well done! I have not traveled by train in Europe and haven't been there for many years, but this was fun to watch and informative. I like the format.
Thank you :-)
Absolutely brilliant video! The maps showing the route of each one are so helpful. Thank you
Bravo, Thibault!!! Wonderful, helpful video, and beautifully filmed!!
Oh my gosh! I love the pics when you were little!! Also, I know you prefer not narrating, and resent the algorithms, but I personally enjoy your narration. Also, hearing your preferences are so fun. I think your background in engineering gives you a great insight and perspective. You do an amazing job for our benefit. Merci!
You're right! The GWR is so affordable for what it is. We just did that journey and were so impressed.
Really enjoyed this video.
Bravo! Thank you for this captivating video. I will watch it twice. I must try to ride the ferry train to Sicily. I will look at your history of videos because I only learned of Simply Railway a short time ago.
Yeah, the Sicilian video is from back in the days. :-)
Great video Thibault

That is very elaborate👍 Plus Europe rail ticket now has a discount😮
Brilliant video Thibault. Only done the Caledonian Sleeper so far but definitely plan to head to mainland Europe for some sleeper trains this summer.
Such a shame the British network is so limited when there’s the Euro tunnel
Wonderful! Planning a trip from Vienna to Zurich and didn’t know where to start. (From No. California, USA). Thanks!
Fantastic video. I really enjoyed it and very much appreciate all the work you did on this. Cheers.
I love night trains. This video has me feeling wanderlust. I did a ferry train from Copenhagen to Hamburg & then a night jet to Vienna before. It was pretty cool
Top ce nouveau format de vidéo ! Ça apporte vraiment une plus value le fait de les commenter de vive voix. 👌🏻
Great video. Sadly, Caledonian Sleeper Train isn't on the list, but I'm definitely agree with all of Top 5 in this video + honourable mention for Nightjet and Optima Express. Excellent! Thank you😊
Thank you Thibault for the great review of the top 5 night trains in Europe. 😀💚
Not in Europe, only in eu. There is no train from top 5 neither from top 10 of Europe in this video
Great video! As you explained it's also to feed the YT algorithm, but it works well. Now I want to take the night train to Kopenhagen :-) If I may just offer one advice, there's a lot of reverb in the audio which makes it a bit harder to follow. A great video. A useful insight to what you get and pay for on various journeys, thanks :)

Loved it 😊🎉 Nice video. I have done Munich to Budapest ohh night jet
Top video, and some great inspirations there. Thank you.
Loved your video, Thibault!
Nice video, and a good book over night trains, i hope you will translate it to English so more people can read it.
It would be interesting to see some trains like Amtrak's California Zephyr going between e.g. Madrid and Stockholm non-stop. With sleeper compartments, dining cars and maybe some viewer cars
I agree!
you did AWESOME! keep them all coming we think (you) they are great! :)
Excellent thank you ❤🎉
Detailed and clear expression🙏 Thx for ur devotion😘 I tried the app mentioned by comments section, amazingly it is 💥super save🤩
Love all this information. I would buy the book as soon as it comes out in English!

Yes, train is convenient in trip☺️ Hope the rail tickets bought in a cheap price can use🥺
My favourite night train is Vienna - Bregenz because I can ride it for free with my nationwide-valid Klimaticket! :)
You did a great job!
Great best of video . A bit difficult to understand but the info was top notch .
Excellent video!
Thank you Thibault, I liked this video very much.
Good job on the new format videos. Very informative and good tips for travelers!

Thank you for a wonderful video.... Luke in Arizona.
good video, keep it up,.and yes the train to penzance is great!.
Thanks Thibault, great video!
Again, I can only dream of such trains in North America... oh well.
Thanks Man 👍
I believe in the future of night trains and I hope they will land a lot of planes.

Being a resident of Illinois, I can understand the romance of overnight train travel. As most of the long distance Amtrak routes fan out from Chicago.
Video tres Interessante, j'avais jamais entendu parler du Zurich Zagreb j'avoue que ça me tente bien
Intercity Notte was decent for the price. I paid 79 or so Euros for a sole occupancy sleeper on each segment (Milan to Naples and Rome to Venice) and it was just so convenient.

great job. do one for Ireland

When I was a girl on the late 1900s there were several ferry trains between Sweden and either Denmark or Germany ...
This is fantastic! I love hearing you talking and explaining things. Before we had to read, and then I missed seeing the picture that was on. I think that people will learn more by doing your videos this new way. Hats off to you for doing this and not giving up. Great and fantastic job!!! Can't wait to see your next video!
Not a problem for me. I put on "pause", i read, then i run the video. What is the matter?
Is there a way to purchase your book on sleeper trains? Olive in Australia and cannot find the book in the shop. Your's is the best train review channel and again you've proved why!
As a long time viewer of the channel, I'm excited to see where you take things with the narration... It's great to hear your opinions out loud!
Great video !!

again, one of your videos gives me a massive wave of fernweh! xD

You made me wanna travel again just for the sake of exploring :D Some of your picks are on my wishlist :).
