Two weeks later Gary Neville was screaming in a linesman's face because a throw in didn't go their way.

      @CLASSIC
Remember when ManUtd came to Highbury 2003, ThierryHenry is allowed to score TWO offside goals in the SAME winner takes all game vs ManUtd?? You mention throw-ins, I know you were joking/overexaggerating but seriously ManUtd weren't even getting clear throw-ins from that linesman in that game (Martin Atkinson, who became an even worse ref).
ManUtd scored 2 legitimate goals to get a 2-2 draw and prevent Arsenal from a costly win but other seasons that sort of thing has lost ManUtd titles.
Just so pleased this 2005 PedroMendes incident didn't win or cost any team anything.

I bet you're more angry about this what turned out to be ineffective howler from the linesman (for both teams) than you are with the times Chel$ea ACTUALLY cheated Spurs out of champions league places and silverware 2010/11 & 2011/12?
With many illegal goals against Spurs, the ghost goal Chel$ea got in the FAcup semi-finals 2012 was just as bad a decision but more predicted before kick-off and more costly because Spurs had a very good team then who could've easily beaten 8th place Livepool in the final.
Everything with ManUtd is blown up they want to remember every ManUtd decision bit never talk about decisions against them and decisions other teams get in games not involving ManUtd.
Just remember Chel$ea robbed Spurs of a champions league place 2 consecutive seasons 2011 & 2012 and even in later years 2017 Spurs deserved the PL title, they also had Martin Atkinson in the FAcup SF 2017 vs Chelsea again after the 2012 scandal?? Same outcome....then he officiated yet another cup semi-final between the same 2 team's LeagueCup SF 2019 2nd leg at Stamford bridge, again same outcome.
But no just forget all those recent WORSE controversies and just choose to make this meaningless older incident relevant?????

Linesman and referee with extremely poor decision making. Man Utd fan Carroll was known for making dumb mistakes constantly. Tottenham robbed of victory.

@@pudboy123456 Plus Clattenburg didn't make the Jan2005 goal-line call it was the linesman. Martin Atkinson had no right to decide the FAcup ghost goal 2012 was a goal when everyone including the linesman was telling him it was nowhere near the line.
Plus Atkinson was a terrible linesman before he became a ref, he was also the one who allowed TheirryHenry to score TWO offside goals in the SAME winner takes all game between Arsenal & ManUtd at Highbury in April2003...and there's you thinking it's bad to get 2 decisions in 6 years from the same ref 🤣 Martin Atkinson gave 2 offside goals to Arsenal in the same game the 2nd Arsenal goal was miles offside and ManUtd only still won the title that year because they scored 2 legitimate goals in that game to prevent the loss....and he also fixed back-to-back Chel$ea PL wins vs ManUtd at Stamford bridge in 2009/10&2010/11 1of them cost ManUtd the title and record 4 in a rowPL's/gave Chel$ea the title and the other allowed Chel$ea to get a top4 place which they used to win the CL the following season which gave them the trophy they'd been trying to buy for many years that was missing from their collection and also allowed them to qualify for Champions league 2012/13 despite finishing 6th and it was at Spurs's expense again for the 2nd season in a row (and with a bit more bad luck ManUtd actually could've lost the title again with that disgraceful performance from Atkinson but it didn't turn out to cost ManUtd the title that 2010/11 season).
And in Oct2010 ManUtd vs Spurs Clattenburg didn't give a free-kick to anyone the GK Gomes put the ball down assuming he had given a free-kick and Nani tapped it in. Even if it was controversial I don't see how an 84th minute goal to make it 2-0 is more controversial than many of the controversial wins Chel$ea have had against Spurs??
Try talking about the 3 illegal goals Chel$ea scored against Spurs that season (2010/11) from a legitimate Spurs goal lead in both games to come back and draw 1-1 at WHL (handball goal) and win 2-1 at SB (another ghost goal & offside late winner).
Chel$ea don't care about winning like that either.
Every team get decisions for & against but as a ManUtd fan that Jan2005 goal-line decision is the only moment I've been a bit embarrassed about a decision ManUtd got and I was delighted it didn't cost Spurs anything and didn't gain ManUtd anything either we slipped to finish 3rd after that (miles above 4th Everton) which made this a non-issue which was good.
Pity you can't say the same about the Scholes disallowed goal at that end less than a year earlier which DID cost ManUtd the champions league when he was played ONside by 4 Porto players but flagged offside....and that's not even going into the fact Chel$ea wouldn't have then got Mourinho for this 2004/05 season and ManUtd may have actually been in a much better position in the table when this PedroMendes incident happened and it probably wouldn't have happened which would've been extra better.
I would watch every ManUtd game entirely from mid/late 90's onwards if I felt my team were getting extra help from the officials I would stop supporting them it's as simple as that. I've never seen my team controversially win any trophy. They weren't favoured, this was a howler from the linesman which isn't ManUtd's fault but like I said it turned out to be meaningless.

As a ManUtd fan who watched every game entirely from mid/late 90's onwards I can safely say I've never felt we've been given extra help from the officials and I would've stopped supporting them if I thought that we were, obviously every team get decisions for and against but this is the only moment where I was a bit embarrassed about a decision ManUtd got on their side and I'm so pleased it didn't cost Spurs anything that season nor did it gain ManUtd anything they slipped down to 3rd making it a non-issue which is good.
Also at least the linesman didn't make this decision whilst stood near the corner flag, he was obviously unable to see due to RoyCarroll's body covering his view of the ball from his position. The fact that it crossed the line by a bigger distance than most incorrect goal-line decisions obviously made him look worse but as they said, if you can't see it you can't give it.
Chel$ea are the sort of classless team that don't ever care about winning trophies via decisions like this but as I said it actually felt good knowing we didn't gain anything from this decision.

    • @cddb5408

Besides, PedroMendes wouldn't have a Champions league or FAcup winners medal had it not been for his other teams getting dodgy decisions on their side against ManUtd at OldTrafford.
      Porto 2004 CL & Pompey 2008 FAcup.
As I said this Jan2005 decision was meaningless for both teams but summing up the prejudice behaviour towards ManUtd it's the only 1 out of the 3 people actually talk about.

@@sebastiansek7809 Yeah back when most teams prefered no European football than UEFAcup/Europa.
It would've done you a favour actually. The following season with no European football and Arsenal heavily focussed on their champions league run, Spurs would've finished 4th & qualified for CL had they not got food poisoning just before their final game. Are you gonna blame food poisoning on ManUtd as well??
Other teams like Chelsea have literally robbed Spurs of many trophies and CHAMPIONS LEAGUE places and I bet you say nothing.
Shows how much more envied ManUtd still are than even other big clubs in England.
