  • Just a few days shy of the 100th anniversary of the recording of this song, the one that became the soundtrack of the 1920s.
This was the first original Charleston from the 1920s I could get, back in 2012.

Hi Ricardo. Just reading the comments and I'm sorry to hear about your father passing 😢 sad news.
The player sounds fantastic gorgeous sound for 78s. Best wishes to you and your family. Paul

Thank you very much Paul, he pass on February and I'been focused mostly on arranging al the things for my mother, he was very organized but still burocracy has it's own times and until now I can say I finally was able to fix all .
I'm so glad that you enjoyed this one, I wantend to post it being played in my VV 2-55 , but I was testing this little player aftet some repairs I made and throw the record in, then I remember that it was recorded in Oct. 1923 and decided to upload this new video because of the anniversay even when I posted it 11 years ago when I got it.
The little Japanese player did great.

Thanks Tocayo, I've uploaded this one when I got it 11 years ago, this little record player was my cousin's and I have it since 1996, I just serviced the motor, made a new idler wheel and replaced the cartridge for one with 78/33 rpm stylus , I had it handy and in a rush I made a hand held video.
All is fine and finally we are finishing all the things that needed to be done after my father"s passing.

@@rordorica You did a great job on the player. How old is it? Surprisingly good sound with an acoustic record.
I certainly understand about final arrangements and the amount of time it takes to settle everything. I've been through it myself.
It's alot of work but somehow it helps you deal with the loss at the same time.
      Glad all is well, tocayo?

@@charlescalvert8647The player is Japanese, made in plywood , just with AM radio that also works, it is from the 70s, but I remember it since 1981-82 when it was used on my cousin's parties to play us( then children) music from Parchis, Enrique y Ana and Timbiriche , all of them very popular music groups for children that had sometimes popular adult music covers.
All the electronics are still intact but the original crystal cartridge that perished , i've thinkig to replace the electrolitic caps to see if it does sounds better.

@@rordorica Its held up very well, especially with all those years of use. Definitely hold on to that player.
I've never had luck with vintage electronics, they always burn up or smoke.

@@charlescalvert8647 And to think that this was from the time of Japanese things like this from not famous brands were considered cheap and not so well made.. I like this one a lot, very cute and the colors and the texture of the plastic made it to look elegant !
I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend!

Hard to believe this is an acoustic recording. Great orchestration & especially like the piano & high clarinet toward the end.

Those are the things I liked the most on this recording, also I think is one of the most classy versions that are from it, and is the first recording ever made of the popular tune.
I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend!
