Thank you for the comprehensive comparison, still helping people out all these years later! I need to buy my friend the cheapest possible knife which is not crap so thankfully I know now I can buy him the hultafors and not feel bad

Both are solid knife brands but I prefer the handles of the Hultafors. They feel 'stronger' and are easier to clean.

I know it's an older video, but thought i would put in my two cents anyways. I agree with your assessment of these two knife brands. I tend to use my hultafors for the times i know the knife will be abused, construction projects etc, and the moras when i plan on some campfire side carving or farting around in the woods. Performance wise they are very close.

We sell bucket loads of hultafors craftmans knives per week to workers in and around Construction. The knives are generally not re-grinded/sharpened, they are discarded when dulled and the workers come back and buy new knives. A shame really. But we do the same at the store.

I have the whole line of both of these brands pretty much, I pretty much always find myself grabbing for a mora over a hultafors when I'm out in the bush, they feel less cheesy, they ( in my opinion) hold a better edge, and also have better ergonomics for my preference also the grip on this more companion is above anything you will ever find on a $10 knife. Don't get me wrong they are both good, buy them both; i know I did. Can't go wrong with either for the $$ but my nod goes to moras across the board

+Jon O'Dell Thanks for your comment and information. I always like to grab a new mora when it's available at the store i'm ordering. I also prefer mora over hultafors although I don't own many different hultafors knives. Mora's ergonomics and quality are incredible for it's price.

+Dutch Bushcraft Knives I find that a majority of the hultafors have the same style/shape/size blade while moras are a much more diverse brand with more options on blade size and shape. Just subscribed like the vids!

Mora use UHB20C steel uddenholm, similar to 1095, Hultafors do not import japanese SK-5 steel to Sweden, they are made under licence in Taiwan, thats why you never see country of manufacture on a hultafors and are cheaper than moras, but both are exellent steels combined with exellent heat treat. The sk-5 hultafors with its huge handle is the tougher knife, but the mora has a slight advantage in edge holding, but theres not much in it, get both lol

Say Heah, Not to long ago I decided to get the Mora 510 which I read and heard so many good thing's about it. I regret that by the time I decided to buy the 510 the new model was available which is thinner. I don't understand the ligic why Mora would stop making it and made it thinner if it was that popular. But I bought one regardless. A long tine ago I bought on a closeout a Frost Mora Clipper or Campanion, I don't know the difference between the Campanion and Clipper since both look alike to me. But I had NY Frost Mora for a while, but since I like knives and have sone good ones I hardly used my Frost Mora. But what attracted ne to look into the Mora is the deal they had on the Mora 2000/Mora Hatchet Kit, But the sale was only on the Hi-Viz Orange. But I didn't know the Bacho Laplander came in the Orange Hi-Viz, I got the Green Mora 2000/Mora Hatchet for just alittle mire. I had a plan of making a Lite Carry Trio with the Mora 2000/Mora Hatchet and the Bacho Laplander. Awhile ago I bought 3-4 Far Nine Shoulder Flapover Camo Purses that I converted into my Haversack that carry my Mora Hatchet and my Bacho Laplander. No one has ever said my Far Nine was a purse. It look's very masculine and as far as I'm concern, It work's great as my Haversack which I also carry my other 5C's in. I never liked the way the Mira 2000 looked, but when I found out it was used by the Military Cadet's, I gave it a try, It became one of my Fav. Mora Knife. I really like the Dual Grind and the 12c27 Sandvik Stainless hold's a decent edge retention. But I also bought the Mora Classic #1 because Cody London likes his Classic #1 and that's all he uses. But the Mora 510 and the Mira 2000 have the same identical blades. After using the Mora 510 I found it to be satisfactory , But I also found the Mora Forest Exclusive Line which is being discontinued, But I was lucky to still be able to get the Mora Exclusive #277 which is a Beautiful Knife. It look's alittle like the Classic #1 but it's hand-made with a hardwood handle and a brass bolster and pommel and it's a full sticktang with a laminated blade. the sheath is a beautiful traditional leather sheath, a picture perfect looking knife that became one of my Fav. neck knives. But I also like the Mora 510 as a neck knife when I use a Basic Trio Carry, I especially like to use it with my Modde Rodent 6, my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet and my Wicked Tough Saw Combo. and adding the Mira 510 as my neck knife, A lovely piece if kit. But my Classic #1 came in very handy when I put a Nylon Belt Loop on my Bikor Black Vox Rold. I liked the knife alot, But the Sheath was dangerously loose and I injured my foot real bad, So I put a Belt Loop on it with a Handle Strap, But the handle strap was too loose, So I slipped on my Classic #1 on the strap and now I have a real nice lite Piggyback Sheath. The two knives really compliment eachother. The D2 Rold hold's a good edge and handles the bigger choirs and the Classic #1 works wood great with my fine tasks, So yeah a real nice combo together. But since the D2 is very hard and can chip,, I always bring a Hatchet and Saw when I use my Lite Piggyback. Even though I carry two knives, The two don't weigh alot so I still consider it as a trio carry. I usually like taking my 17" Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet and if I'm going with my haversack I bring my Bacho. But when I go with my Gearsling, I'll go with either my Wicked Tough Saw Combo or my Siljy Bigboy2000 with the sheath or even my Wooden Handle Fiskar Folding Saw. It's not the mire expensive knives I own. But I really enjoy using this set at this time of the year before it get's warm enough to start using my Lite Carry Trio. But I alsodo alot of solos where I use other Piggyback Carries like my Rodent 7/Rodent 3 cimbo, Usually I use this set when I do solo in colder weather then I even might bring my 24" Council Pack Axe. But yeah, Mora makes a pretty good knife for the $$$. Like I said, I like using my Mora 510 as a neck knife, My Classic #1 in my Rold/Classic #1 Piggyback and my Forest Exclusive #277 as one of my Fav. neck knives, Oh yeah, My very Lite Trio Carry too with my Mora Hatchet/2000, So, Yeah Mora makes some good knives.,,.

The Hultafors is a Japanese carbon steel and the mora is Swedish carbon so there is a differance in the steels I was hoping to find out in this video.

I'm sorry I could not find out what kind of carbon steel they are using, Both are excellent performers for the costs.
Both companies don't like to tell the public about the used carbon steels. it's really hard to find.

You forgot to say that the mora feels better -in your hands-. that doesn't mean that that will be for everyone the same. Quite important to mention such things when reviewng items in my opinion.

www.baptist.nl/merken/hultafors. Het zou ook luk zijn als Baptist ook de Hultafors messen zou gaan verkopen

Useless 'comparison' as you have already altered the blade sharpness on both from standard, and they are not really comparable to begin with.... different price.
