Stand comedians do that quite regularly on TS.
You’ll notice this whenever you watch stand-up comedians on any of these shows.
When it’s just a movie star or other celebrity they always ask them about their work but whatever it’s a standup comedian the host will ask random questions about very mundane things because it’s leading them into a stand up bit
Most comedians do. They figure out how to work the material into a fake conversation and give the producer a prompt to start it.

When he talked to Conan about his DNA test, you could never be sure if he was telling the truth at any point or just setting up his next joke.

My late brother was like this. He would tell us a story, and gullible us would fall for it as true every time, then comes the punchline.

He's a damn legend, copper mountain has a fair amount of Black Diamond trails, its all marked. But a great mountain to ski or ride.
Conan and Andy seemed like they totally enjoyed that.

Nealon!! Saw him in a San Jose comedy club few years ago. Afterward we were eating at a PF Chang's on down the block. I'm vegetarian and had them make something for me, don't remember what it was. As I'm eating I hear over my shoulder "I'll have what he's having." I turn around, it's Kevin Nealon! Oh yeah...and that's how I roll...Nealon-time! Whoooooo. (he is brilliant!)
I saw Kevin do this routine as stand-up at the SAP Sapphire convention in Orlando back in 2014 to an uptight corporate IT crowd. They didn't know how to react. Just silence or a little nervous laughter.

My neighbor took me skiing, this was like my 3rd time skiing, they took me on a double black diamond and I got hit by another skier. I moved.

“They will beat you up. They will beat you up.” Because those color ski slopes are the most difficult. Expert level. “Some of them are not very groomed.” Not groomed means the ski slope will be even more difficult because it won’t be smoothed out for you.

Excuse me sir, I will have you know that ten years ago I wrote a christmas song that was so amazing it made the very statues in central park burst into tears.
