Hello from a 70 year old kid reliving my childhood :) My first slot car track was a Marx "Indy 500" figure 8 set from Sears. Got it for Christmas...or birthday. 1963-64 I suppose. Details are hazy... Hadn't thought about slot cars for years but love motor sports so.... Picked up a Carrera digital starter set with some gift money and set it up in my office. Having a blast annoying my dog and wife. I don't see myself being able to expand any time soon but for now, I'm having fun. It's on the floor now but I'd like to raise it at least a couple of feet so the afore mentioned critter can't nudge the cars off the track quite so easily. Great channel/content. Thanks. Cheers!
Life makes us loose touch with our inner child. I picked up slotcars again after my doctor suggested to find a hobby due to my deteriorating mental health. I'm no serious slot racer, I enjoy the hobby for what it gives me and not what others think about it. It doesn't meter the size of the track or the fancy cars. It is special exactly because it brings us in touch with the kind we ones were. I'm glad to hear that you are having fun with it. In the end of the day it's all about enjoying the little things in life.
Thanks for watching and sharing your story, it's much appreciated 😊
08:50 ...if there's a Will... 😂😂😂😂😂 great Video! Love your sense of humor! 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
I love it when people get the jokes and they take them as intended.
People get offended way to easy this days
Also a very well made video. You kept me on the edge of my seat...lol. Well done.
Thanks mate, keeping people on the edge is my expertise, starting with my wife 😆
well delivered and super funny😂😂😂😎😎😎
Thanks Ted, I'm surprised that no one has fund it offensive yet lol 😆
😂 can't help but love it, the most up-to-date vibe video out there ❤
Good one bud. 😂😂 Funny yet very informative. Wish there was more videos like this when I started.
I was thinking the same, thus is why I did it.
Glad you liked it brother 👍
Excellent video Crafty. Very accurately captured the rabbit hole we end up falling into. Going to have to watch this again, enjoyed it that much 👍
Thanks brother. 😊
You are right it's like falling in a rabbit hole but at the same time it's so much fun.
That was an incredible video - wow! Completely mesmerising, great work! Welcome to the addiction, I'm an addict too - it's ok, you're amongst friends! hahaha. Thanks for this, I'm looking forward to checking out some other videos, this was the first I've seen 👌💯🔥🔥
Thanks mate, I'm glad you liked it.
04:31 Hey Crafty! Sorry, but need to insist here: 1:64 maybe in the US is called HO. In Germany and EU, it's H0 ("HZero", I know in English language, no one says zero, if they can say 'o', but it's the zero in this scale).
AND: H0 is 1:87! (It's coming from model trains like Märklin, Faller or similar)
1:64 is Diecast scale like Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars!
Sorry for disturbing. 🙏
No worries Michael, no disturbance at all, I don't pretend to know everything, but that was my impression up to now. Thanks for the Info, I stand corrected 👍
I pinned your comments so people can see it first and not get mislead.
Thanks again.
@@SlotCraftMaster you're welcome. 🙏🙏🙏
Such a good video, love your style mate
Oh stop it, you will make my wife jealous ☺️
Awesome
Thanks
informative videos
Hope it helps, cheers
Space Space Space is the first thought Scale is the 2nd yes 2 sets is better than one or maybe a couple more , more cars and more track and the word compromise we all want the greatest track built but in our hearts we come down with a bump due to space or the lack of very good video thanks for posting
I don't think that anyone has enough space. As the space is getting bigger our inspiration follows... but being that annoying half glass full of a guy, sometimes compromise is the birth place of innovation and ideas that we normally wouldn't thought of.
I draw inspiration from the Germans and Spanish people. Most of them live in apartments with no garage or a shed but that doesn't stop them.
🤣🤣🤣 what a great video!!!! Love it!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣😎🤟👍😎
Thanks Nico. I was a bit sceptical about the humour I used but it seems like it worked out.
Wow, that's really brilliant! 👌 Just subscribed 👍
Thanks mate, much appreciated 👍
Im going for the 1:43 for me and my nephew due to space
1:43 is a grate choice, large variety and everything is really cheap. Enjoy 👍
Hahaha love this brother 😂 I’m on the journey and you nailed it all. Having invested too much money in scalextric I have finally made the move to Carrera Digital. It’s an expensive lesson but one I’ll be pleased I made in a couple of years time. Keep the content coming mate!
Scalextric is OK but Carrera adds so much more value. I just wish they had the car rage Scalextric has...
Ooohh Crafty you’ve done it again!🫡 👍Now we’ve been through this 🚁✈️🛸🏠🏢🏚️⛺️scenario several times, now what to do with all the semi empty boxed set boxes👀🤪🤪🤪🤪🧨💣🔥☄️🌏
What are you talking about, I thought you were a box collector 😆
@SlotCraftMaster That’s not us that’s the Baron you’re talking about who happens to be safely locked in his padded cell at the moment 🤪😜🤣😂 btw, don’t let all this new found exposure go to your head mate, we love ya just the way you are 😻🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
@@SlightlyMadSlotCars sorry mate, I appreciate the love but I already ordered a high horse 🐎 😆
this is perfect information for the beginner and exactly what i did ended up with a carrera digital track always wanted a large track ended up with a table 7.2m x 3.6m and 51m long track but the best addiction I have ever had. just starting the scenery. 124 track fully edged and guard railed.
OMG that sounds like a great track but also a lot of work🤯
Take it easy brother and enjoy the process. For me it's therapeutic, just need a doctor prescription in writing to justify the time and money to my wife 😆
@@SlotCraftMaster I'm a disabled Pensioner so time is all I have taken 12 months to get this far and for me it is all about the journey and having fun and for me the scenery is the most enjoyable part. Do not have to justify to the wife how much I spend on my hobbies as she like her expensive wines I can buy 2 124 cars and have money left over for 1 bottle of her wine and I still have my slot cars to play with the next day lol Keep having fun
😆 You are the man!
Love this video lol
Thanks mate much appreciated
Lol so many funny references I found it hard to keep up with the tips.
Need to watch it again 😂
You should!
Εξαιρετικό μοντάζ, μπράβο.
Ευχαριστώ Ζαφείρη, χαίρομαι που σου άρεσε αλλά παίρνει πολύ δουλειά ρε φίλε...😶
Decided to go back to analgue. I'm building a Scaleauto track. I do have a smartphone!
Get rid of it and get a message carrying pigeon 😆
It's all ment in good fun mate, hope I didn'toffend you in any way.
The video is for beginners to help them navigate through the initial confusion.
You know what you like so by all means do what makes you enjoy the hobby more. There is no ONE right way to this.
But I reserve the right to make fun of it 😜
@@SlotCraftMaster No, I don't feel insulted at all. I understand your humor. I just wanted to make it clear that there are also experienced slot racers who still opt for analog. Digital has many advantages, changing lanes, multiple cars on a two-lane track, but also disadvantages. much more damage, more malfunctions, delay from controller to car, more expensive cars to name a few. And yes, keep on joking please. I ordered a digital pigeon to keep up with modern times as much as I can.
Where was this video 3 weeks ago?
Great info just wish I had it sooner lol
And yes I’m in bed in my phone
It was in the making... it actually took me 3 weeks to make. I guess 3 weeks to late for you, sorry.

I guess you didn't wait for it 😂
Hi there and congratulation for this clip. It is helpful for beginners and that is good so. But, you were too heavy into Digital, which seems to be the most improtant thing for some out there. There is a flipside though. Many out there do buy Analog for the re-start, or start into the hobby. Not without a reason. Some don`t need all that Digital this and that, because it takes you away from the basic fun. Besides that all costs a lot of money. If you mostly race on your own, or every once in a while with others, you don`t really need all that clickedeethat and clickedeethis changing the lanes, or other features. Especially if you have a smaller/shorter track. Like you mentioned, I got two Carrera Evolution sets for my re-beginnig after so many years. I was hooked on Carrera, because here in Germany, we all know this brand. We also know, that the elder Carrera systems had way, way more quality, than the cheaper Chinese produced Carrera stuff today. That can disappoint, like it did to me. If I had known better, I would have defintly started with a Polycar track, because it has way more grip and doesn`t cost that much, compared to Carrera. One can buy lots of slotcars later than. Also Scaleauto does good with its new track system. I was lucky to recieve a Carrera Digital track from a friend later and to be honest, I do not use all the extra gimmicks, a Digital system gives me with it. I only hook up the control unit and run 124 scales on it. I leave out the lanechanging parts. My 132 Digital cars I mostly run Analog, because Casrrera provides that, too. Driving Analog is about comming down from all that Digital and lets you dive into a certain mood, once you got into it. There are lanechanging Analog track pieces, that can do it, too. That can kick away all the stress, one has in these modern societies. Than, there are racers, who go more deeper and if you look further, mostly all run Analog. The cars are better in many terms and you can steady improove their performance. The aftermarket provides you with tons of parts and what not. If one starts with a Carrera Analog system in 132 and 124, the Go!! isn`t produced by Carrera anymore, one can upgrade it into Digital. That is the advantage of Carrera. But ever since the Digital Carrera system appered in the the year 2004 with the Pro-X and changed into the Carrera Digital in 2007, only a few things were introduced new to the system. Carrera spins in circles on their spot, sort of speak. We will see other slotcar producers improove sooner, or later to pass Carrera in that case. The majority, who had decided for Digital, may stay with it, but there is movement on the market and that is good. I did not go too deep into Carrera here, because there are a lot of issues, that are not so good and dissatisfying. Carrera does fine detailed cars for a reasonable price, compared to other brands, but there are exeptions. But this will go too deep and too far for a beginner. Carrera is considered as a toy here. We don`t have a German word for slotcar here. Kids love`em, and they love the crashings. Therefore is Carrera as robust as can be. You don`t have that with other brands, that cost way more money, than an Evolutiuon car, that can also be upgraded into a Digital one. Other brands can be upgraded, as well. It is in the end, all a matter of money, which is actually today more worth for many, as there are other reasons and matters. It is up each one to decide, if she/he wants to kick off again with slotcars Digital, or Analog. I hope this was a little helpful and my philosophical points of view, did not turn off anyone who is reading my comment. The approach has many directions and that makes it more diverse today, than in the old days. But sticking to Analog is definetly not a reason to talk it down, just because the market is today into Digital. That is the conclusion. Anyhow, may this hobby kick one on and slotcar racing wasn`t ever better, than today. Or maybe not? One needs to fing that out. Ride on! 🙂
Hi mate, thanks for watching and taking the time to write your view in the matter.
I hear you and totally understand and agree with a lot of your points. I can see the appeal on the simplicity of analogue but just because something is simple does not necessarily make it better. Especially for new comers in to the hobby. I strongly believe that Carrera Digital is the best investment on entry to realy enjoy and stay in the hobby for longer. After that one will have the experience and ability to move on to whatever he enjoys the most. Because in the end of the day it's all about having some fun away from life's real problems.
Please don't take this video or my opinion to seriously, it's all in the name of good fun and as part of that a bit of teasing to the other side 😉
@@SlotCraftMaster I didn`t take it too seriously. You did a good clip for all those who want to come in, or back to the hobby. There are just a few and yours jumps out of them on top. Well done and keep the good contents comming 🙂
What about buying sets on ebay? Or used sets?
If you find a bargain then yes that's great but unless you really trust the seller I wouldn't recommend to get your first set that way.
The reason is that people had issues with the control unit in the past and that is the hart and soul of the system.
If you already have a CU I would not worry too much about it as if something is broken its easy to identify or fix
Yo Crafty,
Great channel. How about a video on how to put a digital chip in a car? Step by step with NO ASSUMPTIONS! Chipping a car for dummies. Thoughts?
Hey Brian 👋 thanks for watching.
I already made one of those, check out my channel. If you have more questions that the video doesn't answer I'll be happy to help you further 🙂

Great video Thank you apriciatafrica just f@#$_@ expensive in south africa
I feel your pain brother, it's not cheap here either but if you compare it with other hobbies it's reasonable. For me it's therapy so I save money from the shrink 😆
