So Nebraska gives this young man an opportunity when nobody else would and he turns his back on them. Great story.

I've been thinking that same thing since he announced. Didn't he stand up there and cry about this opportunity and the brotherhood? No loyalty whatsoever!

Promoting a guy leaving a school that took a chance on him when no one else wanted him. What are you doing?
He sits here and says no one wants him. The University of Nebraska did. He’s the one turning his back. He’s not a victim, this is his own doing. So if he ends up at Wyoming instead of Ohio State, that’s his doing. Let’s just get that straight.
You guys should be interviewing players who are going to be cut and wanted to stay. Guys that gave everything to the program and need help finding a new home. In no way shape or form should anyone affiliated with or a fan of a university be out there promoting a guy who chooses to leave.

College athletics, for the players, is not "a business". They are not professionals, they are amateurs receiving many benefits from their school in return for their participation. Receiving money from the NIL arrangement is an enhancement to their time at university. I personally did not care for the "tone" of James' interview. Football is a team sport, not an "all about me" sport. Professionals understand their value is based on what they can do for the team they are on, and how they fit into the scheme of that team. For the vast majority, college athletes are still developing physically and mentally, and should not expect to receive special status.

That’s well said. It’s just a little irritating to listen to a person say this program saw something in me that no one else did and gave me a chance. They played me a lot and now that I have a highlight reel I’m moving on. Moving on to what?
I can totally understand if he sat here and said there was a lot of conflict with the coaches and players and he was after a different culture but that’s not what I heard.
Other than culture or depth chart issue like our QB position, I simply don’t understand what some of these guys think is going to happen.
If you’re at Nebraska and getting playing time there’s not much higher you can go in terms of exposure or pay. So unless you’re banking on starting at Ohio State or Oregon or Georgia… you’re going to be starting at school at the same exposure level or lower than Nebraska.
Which again, leads me back to the culture issue. If it’s culture, philosophy, or a talented person who is low on the depth chart… I get it.
I can’t say what’s going to happen with this guy but I would bet money there’s going to be a lot more transfer portal tragedies and regrets than successes.

The show interviewed Williams for clicks and views.
I viewed this to learn why he entered the portal. Turns out that it wasn’t anything Nebraska did, Williams doesn’t view himself through a realistic lens. He thinks he’s JJ Watt, he’s going to test his luck in the portal and it is statistically unlikely to pay off for him.
Best of luck to him, maybe he’ll prove me wrong.

Like James… him leaving the program that gave him a chance doesn’t feel right.

So the message is, immediately turn your back on who help develop you, even for just a lateral move. He’s a poster child for what’s wrong with college football right now.

I told my brother who watches every damn game with me before the season watch out for James Williams and you backed my comment up in the Rutgers game. Best of luck man. The ceiling is high. I thought for sure day 1 starter next year but at least they played you a lot

I knew there was a reason I have never watched this channel. You ask softball questions to a young guy who just bit the hand that fed him, trained him, made a home for him where he could get great healthy food . I will delete this channel from ever showing up on my feed.

All those upset over him leaving need to understand this is the new normal. Stay a fan of Nebraska but don't get too invested in the players personally, you're gonna get hurt. Sucks but it is what it is. Wish he would have stayed but wish him all the best and hope it works out for him. GBR

I’ll be curious to see where he goes. He thinks he can’t reach his goals at Nebraska. So I understand that. We have been mediocre. Ty Robinson played for Indiana he would be first team big ten. But I don’t believe James is there yet. His game will need to get a lot better. I wish him well. GBR!

Nebraska team/fan base used to be one big family players sacrifice, fans sacrifice. Feeling disappointed as fan is not being hater when you have been a loyal fan before some of these young athletes were born. A brother was on noodles to support my Huskers for the SC game. The sellout streak is alive because we are the cornhusker family..like no other fans in college football..Good luck JW ..

Man I shouldn't have watched this interview. I can't stand this constant BS about the fans. Only positive vibes from the fans. I'm not the type to tweet at people to get them to stay or insult them on their way out. If you wanna go then go. Expecting a giant fan base that has stood by the team even through bad years to be even better is ridiculous. Every other fan base would have told the team to kick rocks by now.

247 lists him as 100% to FSU. Doak Walker is a stadium that is 40% empty when FSU is average. The reported attendance for their home game against UNC was only 55K. After half time it was about 20. They have less NIL. Maybe White will get him more $$. Or maybe he's being fed some BS. I'd bet he could get more at Nebraska. The ACC has much less revenue to share when that model goes live. In the event FSU can make it to the power 2, they will get more money but they will not thrive at that level. Cal was their only FBS win. I'm not happy about these coaches stealing these players, likely with half-truths about their future. But, I'll still wish James good luck and I hope he's successful with football and life.
