Awsome vid!! Im new to the safety DE shaving world, and i got the Henson al13 today. Gonna try to use it accordingly your instructions from this video. Many thx for sharing
I’d say the hardest part for me is not mixing up the blade and the safety piece when I’m going the opposite way of my hair basically the same as you did here I just started shaving like this yesterday 2/09/23 so I’m literally brand new to this and love it more then anything lol I just feel like I’m missing a lot of hair still I only do 2 passes I thought 3 or more would damage the face but no I was wrong lol
@@OhioShaves did 3 passes the other day for the first time I was amazed lol. Still suck at going up ward against the grain on my neck/bottom of chin I keep watching this video to make sure I’m doing it so right thanks again!!!
I shaved for the first time using this method, thanks for the walkthrough. Felt incredibly nice, fresh, comfortable. Although I need to practice more because it didn't turn out as well as before, I was using those disposable razors too.. I only found the King C. Gillette Safety razor. Maybe you can review it sometime? Thanks.
Great tutorial. Do you always use your dominant hand for both sides or should you learn to use both hands? Also,is it better to use a higher plate # on the Rockwell or more passes at a lower #. Thanks.
I do shave with my offhand, but on camera, I have to reposition my face to get different angles. If you're having to make more passes on your face, I would definitely step up to a different plate.
I have been shaving my head for 22 years now and have always wanted to use one of these on both my face and head. How hard would it be to use on my head. My father always used one and I think they would give a closer shave.
@OhioShaves ever use the cream called the art of shaving? If so what did you think? I've never used it, but I've come to respect what you say as far as your opinion on shaving and it's products. I'll send some your way if you haven't tried it.. I'll check it out and if it's worthy send you a sample pack.

Great video. Good explanation about not having to have a thick layer of lather for 2nd and 3rd passes. It is important only on the 1st pass to really work the lather onto your face since most the hair is removed on the 1st pass anyway. As well, the whiskers on the 1st pass tend to hold the lather in place; not so on subsequent passes. You're a good teacher. Were you a Professor at "The Ohio School of Shaving"?
I have no problems shaving with safety razor on my face, except when it comes to the neck. So yes I think I have sensitive, i always get cuts, bumps when shaving the neck.@@OhioShaves

I’ve been trying to not get ingrown hairs on the bottom part of my neck. I’ve tried EVERYTHING from new razor blades, to all kinds of products, etc and I just can’t seem to prevent it.
I had the same issue. I started using a mild safety razor the Merkur 34c and after a month I could see a huge improvement. Now after a year it’s pretty much nonexistent. I do occasionally get some razor burn but that’s the extent of it now after using a safety razor. Proper shaving products like a brush, shaving soaps/creams, Alum block and a shaving balm contributed to my success. Hope this helps. Let me know
I've lost about three or four hairs within the first month of use. After that I haven't had any fall out. The nice thing with a synthetic brush is you don't have to soak it in hot water forever. About 10 seconds is all I soak it in warm water and then I start lathering out my face or bowl.
If you want an excellent shave with minimal cost, effort and time try this: Q-Shave adjustable razor (Merkur clone for $20) and Creemo. I tossed my brush and cup when I found that a cream, massaged with fingers, did a better job of moisturizing. Remember a close and nick free shave is a result of technique 90% and equipment 10%. The Q-Shave razor will not dazzle you with a glittering finish or precision machining, but it will do the job.
@@OhioShaves I start with the number one setting and the lightest possible touch. I try to not let the blade touch my skin. After my beard is cut down near the skin I go to the higher numbers for the closest shave.
There's nothing like a new Feather. They need to be used with a mild razor. That's the key for success with a Feather. If you use a Feather with an aggressive razor you'll have trouble unless your technique is one in a million.
What should I do if my hair grows sideways and in multiple directions on my face and neck? My left cheek it grows sideways, my left side of the neck also grows in the same way but with a slight curve upwards. My right cheek it grows downwards at a 45 degree angle and the neck grows sideways/upwards to the jaw. I am trying to get it BBS but I always end up cutting myself on the neck when I have to shave sideways. Any tips to avoid cutting myself?
Don't go across the grain on your neck. I don't as well. 1st pass with the grain. 2nd pass against the grain. 3 pass against the grain. Going across the grain on your neck with sensitive skin for some reason causes irritation for me as well. One of my subscribers pointed this out to me. No, I haven't looked back since and I'm getting some of the best shaves of my life. Give it a try.

Thank you much for the Super Thanks 😊
thanks dude, my dad didn’t teach me how to shave bcus he was always busy tending to his lizards and what not, this what a big help
Anytime, my friend. I’m always here to help.
For me, the toughest part of learning to shave with a DE is breaking 20 years of bad habits from using a cartridge razor.
That is a really good point. There are a ton of bad habits I still catch myself doing from using a disposable razor.
No pressure, let the heft of the razor do the work. Start off with a mild razor. No drag or glide, just light short strokes.
Oh yeah, I only used cartridges for 6-7 years and I still find myself with bad habits at times, even though I’ve used DE razors for 4 years.
Don't sweat it, it's so easy if I can do it you can do it, trust me.🤜🤛
Rockwell #2 PLATE - feather blade with Great Results.
have to say, being new to the whole safety razor shaving thing, that alum block is a great way to convince you to have better shaving technique.

Would you say if I have the ttc since that is suppose to be the Cadillac of rockwell at the moment, that the 6s gives a better shave?
I think the stainless steel is smoother and does produce a better shave. It is CNC mill, so the precision is way better than stamp pressed.

Hi, nice Video. I have one question, which leatherbowl do you take in your Video?
It's only a $6 bowl. Here is the link it's from Sterling soap company: www.stirlingsoap.com/collections/shaving-bowls
How many shaves does a single blade good for usually?
3 -5
comme huile de pré-rasage prendre de l'huile d'olive çà va super bien et c'est pas cher
Whatever works for you
Where'd you get the bowl you used? Thanks.
Sterling soap company. It’s just a small dog slow feeding bowl from a pet store
