Well eventually he would have dug himself into a hole so deep that all of the resources (his streamer friends and audience in this case) would have eventually run dry. He already was in a hole that would be nearly impossible to climb out of. But yeah he would have kept going for as long as he possibly could and the apology was to try to get a bit of sympathy for his gambling problem. Luckily it seems to have failed on just about everyone. I was a heroin/any opiate I could get my hands on addict for almost a decade (3 and a half years clean now) and I did the same sort of shit albeit on a much smaller scale and income bracket. Nobody should feel like just because he is an addict he deserves any forgiveness. I have spent years trying to be better and payback the people I've wronged and I understand that most of them won't forgive me. They have every right to hate me forever. I've earned a lot of people's trust and respect back but everyone that still hates me is something I've earned. I will continue trying to earn my father's trust back but I have to live with the reality that I will most likely never manage to succeed in doing so for the remainder of my dad's life. It hurts but I earned this.

That's not how it works with addiction. The spiraling guilt of what you are doing feeds into the addiction itself period people do all sorts of stuff when it comes to addiction period just because it's not a chemical addiction comma doesn't mean it can't ruin your fucking life. There's a reason why governments are Banning loot boxes and other things targeting gambling towards children - You're basically giving an addiction to a minor. If this is the type of shit that happens to an adult, imagine what it does to kids.

I had a mother who went through an entire gambling addiction. The best thing we could do for her is to just not help her. We had to stop giving her money, stop paying her bills, all this. We were kicked out of the apartment we had been renting because she didn't pay the rent or utilities. My older brother, who was in college at the time, was the one keeping the power on, and keeping food in the cupboards. She went to GamAnon meetings, but she would inevitably relapse.
The best way for Sliker to get over this is for people to just cut him off. And it sucks, because not everyone is aware of this entire situation. And there are even more people who are getting shafted on the money. But I have a feeling that, however good intended it is for xqc and ludwig to pay back all those people, it's relieving Sliker of the guilt because he's like "Oh, they're all taken care of, I don't have to pay it back now." It's a two edged sword, sadly. I'm glad the people got their money back, but I'm worried Sliker is just gonna figure out a way to keep manipulating money out of people.

Damn I didn’t know you were friends with Luke like that. He does seem like a genuinely good guy. I wondered why he hadn’t uploaded in a long time, I had no idea about the stuff he was dealing with.
This whole situation is F’ed up. I’m all too familiar with it. Coincidentally I just hit 13 years clean from opiates yesterday, I had a horrible pill addiction for many many years and went down this same path, not to the extent of hundreds of thousands of dollars, but I still screwed over every person in my life over my addiction. It took probably ten years before I had finally made amends with everyone I took advantage of, and it still haunts me to this day, but I had to hit rock bottom and actually want to get out of it before taking all the steps needed to do so.
Hopefully this guy will get some help, but honestly from a lot of the stuff I’ve seen over the past couple days, I really don’t think he’s ready to give it up yet unfortunately. I think at this point he’s just trying to save face, but time will tell.

That was 11 years ago and he has regained Parental rights an custody of his daughter and he is a great dad and has stayed clean. I know I'll never get my money back and it was over 100k. But I still have my and more importantly his daughter still has a father. I live in a rooming house and there's a person here who has a drug problem and they borrow so much money from so many people that they have to decide which people to pay back and how much because she can't afford to pay it all back so she either a) doesn't pay the person back at all b) pays them back slowly over a year or so in small infrequent amounts or c) borrows more money to pay someone else back a little bit. Most the time she won't say anything about the money hoping the person forgets she borrowed any in the first place and if the person she borrows from does bring the subject up she says yeah I'll pay it back and then doesn't until the person gets really persistent then she gives them a tiny bit of money to shut them up for a while.

Watching this video really hit close to home for me, because I'm also struggling with money right now and I'm sure many people can relate to this in one way or another.
I would like to share my situation to anyone reading if that's okay. If not, don't read any further.
I'm 23 years old and have been struggling with an illness called hereditary pacreatitis and it's effects on my current and future health (depression, pancreatic cysts/cancer, etc.). It technically started when I was born (hence the 'hereditary' part) but it really picked up when I was about 9 years old. I often have to rely on financial support from my mother and grandparents, but they are also in a tough spot because of the health issues running in my family and I want nothing more than to pay them back with something else than gratitude / helping them with their tech-related issues and everyday problems.. with actual money. But I just can't afford it, not even close. The best I can realistically do is pay them back 50€ a month (25€ each) if I skip some meals here and there which I do almost every month. Of course they don't know this, otherwise they wouldn't accept the money.
Seeing what sliker did was very upsetting to me because he's abusing the good will of the people close to him to feed his gambling addiction. With 5% or even just 1% of the money sliker scammed from good & empathetic people, I could pay my family back multiple times over and help them through their troubles, yet he just throws it away to gamble on some dumb CSGO website. It just makes me sad to see.
If you made it this far into my comment, thank you for taking the time to read it. Sometimes it just feels good to share this with someone, even if it's a complete stranger on the internet.
If you are also going through something difficult at this time, I hope things get better for you, even if it may take some time. You made it this far, so you can get through it.
Stay strong and good luck for the future everyone. Take care. ♥

I really hope Slicker gets some professional help. Gambling is an addiction that's difficult to treat because of the enabling aspect. Good people will try to help out if they think it's for a good cause. This doesn't mean the people helping out are gullible, it literally just means they are good people. The addict, unfortunately, continues to get that dopamine hit and frequently gets really good at manipulating others into feeling bad, which basically means they are really good at getting others to enable them. It frequently does take something serious like someone getting hurt or the addict ending up in jail for embezzlement, tax fraud, robbery, or whatever before they end up in a low enough place to seek professional help. In the meantime, Slicker's hurting people by manipulating them into giving him money that they themselves might have needed. This is not a victimless crime.

I learned that this lone wolf mentality was toxic for my wellbeing, but whilst working on trusting people more often, i trusted the ones i should have never trusted. That pushed me back yearsss in my mental health progress... but as i spent my whole life analyzing people, i realised even the most manipulative and unexpected ones have patterns. Deep down, its a bit sad that the Streamers who also gave this pathetic loser money that should've been spent somewhere better is used by slicker. Massive Respect to the streamers who are currently helping those who were scammed and robbed of their money that should've been used on their own situation than to a guy who just used the money on gambling and wasting it on PURPOSE.

every time Atozy gives listening queues during the interview the quick cuts back and forth between speakers was hilarious. idk why. 11:55 great example.

3:38 that's speaking from an outside perspective and outside of the mind of an addicted person. This is not the same as someone looking to scam people just to get rich, this is someone who is dealing with the Sickness. This is like a heroin overdose, or someone dying from alcoholism. Yes it's sad and yes they do need to be cut off, but you have to understand that it's not as cynical as someone who feels No Remorse for what they're doing and is doing so not because of a crippling addiction, but because of greed.
