  • David as Alan Titchmarsh's agent in sketches from the short-lived, one-series-only sketch show 'Bruiser' (2000) starring Olivia Colman, Martin Freeman, Matt Holness, Charlotte Hudson, David Mitchell and Robert Webb.
David in a fatsuit made me muttleychuckle so hard I almost ruptured my spleen. What is with his armfat? Can anyone say waddedupnewspaper? Low-budget productions. You gotta love 'em. ;)
    Clips are from episodes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

I'm British, and of an age where I should remember this period very well, and while I know a lot of the references, there are still a lot I had to look up too! If that makes you feel any better. I did think as I was watching this it was a real blast from the past, really old shows and TV stars that haven't been around in donkeys years, and that anyone from outside the UK would just be lost!

The punny show names & descriptions gag is similar to that in BoJack Horseman, minus the tongue twisters. I don't suppose that the creators of the latter would be aware of "Bruiser", so there's either a common influence I'm not aware of or (more likely) it's just comedic coincidence.

Not to be one of those people always droning on about Brits doing American accents (or vice versa)...
