Inviting is a brilliant way to explain that. Great video!!
Tony definitely has a way of explaining things which resonates with people.
this was a very cool way to deconstruct takeda's movement
great breakdown very nice
Gonna try that later - thanks for the idea!
It's a nice alternative.
Sensei you have my respect ✊. Watching from Los Angeles

100%
Great principles shown here.
Agreed
Very simple, yet not easy to facilitate.
thank you
What name was given to Takeda that referenced?
It was an Australian reference so I'm assuming Shihan Yoshinobu Takeda?
Apologies in advance for not knowing much at all about Aikido. Just wondering what's stopping Uke from simply letting go? Or perhaps if he does let go, is that then considered mission accomplished?
Nothing. It's a drill/kata. If someone grabs you like this they would probably strike with the other hand. This movement either breaks the grip or at least destabilises the uke. Might be worth you googling "kihon" technique.
A very skilled sensei would be able to lock the grip and make it difficult to let go. Unfortunately, very few people have this skill. CMIIW
Again, it depends upon the situation
Yes, as you said, this is a drill intended to learn the principles of aikido. In real life situation I think it is very rare to have opponents trying to grip.
@@azharsukma280589 Not just aikido - did you watch the video?? I have taught kids all my life and this kind of grab happens everyday in school somewhere.
Soto Ikkyo?
Everyone tries this, can't move their arm, rage quits lol
:) not as easy as he makes it look. especially if they pull down
