Thank you for sharing a video of your camp in the woods. I enjoyed your previous build videos and getting great ideas for what I'd like in our camper van. Best regards!
Only just found your channel today but loving the videos already. The van is brilliant with a lot of good ideas. Can’t wait to see more. Great job mate. 👍
Back when I had the pick up, the tailgate was a fold down work area. I used to connect a tarp to the wing on top of the cargo cover, and run Poundland bungees (with the carabiners at both ends) out to the nearest trees. Made working a lot more comfortable. With the gas cannisters, I used to keep a few with me, and switch between them when they got cold. They're handy in the warmer weather, but the butane wins hands down when it's chilly.
The bigger cheap glass carrier suction caps are good, you can attach them anywhere on the body and tie guy ropes to them, I have an old jeep soft top and I put a tarp over the back with a suction cup each side, they have never come off.
Brilliant video. Recognised the bit of road straight away and couldn’t agree more. My take on travelling up there is the traffic gets lighter as the scenery gets better, love it. Looking forward to the next one. Ian T
You need to get a little gas fire that uses same cartridges as your stove. Obv not for leaving in through the night but in the morning it’s great once you’ve got up to make a brew and brekkie or if you’re coming back to the van after a hike. Great for taking the chill off. 👍
Great Camp Steve Just great to get out there again. Im off testing my refitted Van next week. Cant wait. I look forward to more from you buddy And you got the right kind of Gym there LOL ATB. Stephen. 👍🚐🚐
Absolutely brilliant love the van proper nice set up,iv done something similar with my Peugeot partner van,I’m out next week in it,thanks for sharing mate 👍
sirloin is my personal favorite. ive tried that beer one time and its pretty good. those cans are really thick. was thinking of making an alcohol stove out of a couple.
For Power /Electric in a Van /Camper, Carry Portable Fold out Solar panels, Charge every Appliance /Device While Driving, ( Split charger off the engine Alternator. ) Via a Cig Lighter Socket. In Cold Weather, Fill Hot Water Bottles with Boiling water from the Stove, Camp Fire or Barbecue to Warm the Bedding. Heat water over a Camp Fire with waste wood, Twigs & fallen Branches & Fill Rubber HOT WATER BOTTLES. Sleep in a Cold Weather Sleeping Bag, & Add Quilts & Duvets on top. Make use of the Cooking Fire to Boil / Heat water for hot Water Bottles.. To Save Water if Water is hard to Find, Re-Use the SAME Water to Fill HOT WATER Bottles. RIVER or Stream Water is also Good for this , Just Don't Drink it. Heat the Water on the Fire / Remains of the Cooking Fire to Warm the Bed. Use & RE - Use everything at least TWICE or More.
Another great vid Steve, loving your take on know your surroundings before it gets dark😜, We deff doing the spooky forest this year, glad your keeping well mate.
Nice to see you out. Just a thought about the magnets..the way have them is the easiest way to dislodge via a sheer force. I wonder if on the top side would mean they are utilising the strongest pull force as they are designed to be strongest in the direction directly away from the base..food for thought. Take Care 👍
Funny, I was just thinking I love that bit of the M6, then you said same! 😂. Usually that's me heading home though. That's a great set up you have, definitely rate the Courier as it gives bit more room than most micro campers, esp head room. Really is stealth too (until tarp goes on). Great video 👍
Made me laugh when you mentioned the pegging system - and you corrected yourself. PMSL. That is a decent hideaway and well found - I am aiming to stick my camper in a few places across Northumberland in the coming week. Which usually means I will end up in the South somewhere... And an American Werewolf in London - the first film I saw on video way back when - long before the digital age - epic.
Forgot to add - my van is thermally lagged, and carpeted inside - I have taken her down to around -5, and had it snow while I was in her - a combo of the diesel heater, or if I find somewhere with mains hookup ( a leccy heater) have always managed to stave off the worst of the cold and make it manageable.
nice van set up Steve, and I fully understand that given time, you will move things around, but that fire extinguisher is in a very poor location, that need moving so you can get to it in hurry from any where in the van! Plus two long buggies attached to the tarp over the roof and hook to the wheel arches. Just saying, stay safe.
@@stevebutler7156 Not sure about them magnets mate. Invest in roof bars and they will give you practical carrying capacity (bags of wood for campfires) 👍 and anchor points for multple tarp set ups. Just send me the check for the ideas mate! 🤣
Hi Steve I’m sure you went to that location on the bike but it didn’t feel right that particular time ,certainly looked good this time enjoy the vanlife 👍👍
Another cracking video Steve 👍🏻 up in my neck of the woods in Northumberland. Looking forward to your next vid. Great video too ! Haven’t you heard of the beast of Kielder ?
Sorry if I missed you mention is in a Previous video but have you looked Into the Chinese-made diesel heaters? They seem perfect fit your van and easy enough to install. Maybe a worthy upgrade to your winter setup. Also for the butane canister losing its oomph in the cold there are a few videos about that show how to add a strip of copper flashing which remains in contact with the canister and the flame itself so it self-warms and maintains pressure even in the Cold. Check them out. Be well.
@@stevebutler7156 like this ua-cam.com/video/6HiTrgT-Dd0/v-deo.html but you could adapt for the yup of bottle you use I think ...and diesel heater videos are all over. Good luck Steve. Love the content.
Keep it simple! camping with a van! you don't need to live in the van just use it to your camping advantage, here in australia its not the cold that bothers you it's the fly's and mozzies, plus we cant just stop and set up camp anywhere.
Brilliant Steve it's just a great channel got everything really appreciate you making the videos all the best marra take care stay safe #leavenotrace 👍🏕️
Lovely stuff! Great to share that adventure with you. Course, I might be biased, as I have the same transit Connect Micro Camper ('cept mine's a Tourneo) and I live just down the road from Kielder! Can I just ask, it sounds like your Connect has the same kind of engine sound as mine (at 45 min point), the usual slightly lower pitch normal diesel engine sound, but also a higher pitch 'ticking'? Had any issues with yours with this? Like valves? Mine is more pronounced under acceleration or load. Thanks and look forward to watching more.
Thanks for watching, I have recently had a new alternator and drive belt, and drive shaft, and a new battery. Worth the money to keep it going I love the Van 👍
Yet another cracking vid Steve, looks a great spot too, Did I hear you right that your cool box gets to a certain temp then turns itself off ?, if so which one did you go for if I may ask.
1st wild camp we did we watched Dog Soldiers on an iPad till about 01.00hrs. My mate fell asleep ( he sleeps through anything) I was up all night listening to dear and fox’s screaming all night. It was horrendous lol.
