  • Grooming a Pet Yorkies Head | This cute little Yorkie gets a pet style haircut. I use straight shears, thinning shears and chunkers. I use a #10 blade on the tip of the ears. Comb the topknot forward and trim the hair hanging above the eyes. Comb the facial hair forward and trim hair that is longer than the nose. Lots of combing and checking going over and over. Finish with thinners to make the look more smooth.

    That Yorkie seems so comfortable with you. I very much like the time you take with her and using scissors and not using clippers. Most groomers I have found here want to take the easy route and clip them very, very short instead (and other dog breeds I've seen) And that has caused me to keep trying to do it on my own, so I really want to thank you for your video.,

    I'm glad I watched that it showed a different way of grooming. Although I don't think it ever be able to groom my dog's ear that way I literally have to Flatten it out and see the hair from the inside so I know I'm not cutting off a piece of ear. I was glad to see how you groom the bridge because it's I'm always Unsure how far is she cut down from the between the eyes onto the nose. As for myself I like the mustache just below the upper lip line and I like the beard very short otherwise it gets in her food. And I like the side of her face short because I think they look older with their hair long. They look like little old men. Your puppy has an adorable little old man puppy look and is an adorable puppy.

    I am just looking to see if I want to try any one elses ideas. I feel using a clip on first on the head to set a starting length then scissoring a the shape, and finish with a thinning shears if much faster. I also am more careful with the shears around the face, eyes and ears as it can be very easy for anyone to cut them if going to fast. Them metal clip on combs have very sharp edges as well, have to be very careful around the eyes as many dogs can be more jumpy jerky. :-) Great work!

    My Yorkie is not that patient if I cut her hair sitting on the floor, but if I put her in a higher place she stays a little more quiet , and when I'm cutting the hair between her eyes she stays very still hahaha, and I do everything as fast (but not in a hurry) and safe as I can .
    Usually she goes to a professional every month, but between her eyes grow really fast and she doesn't like bows, clothes etc.

  • @antonrudenham3259
    @antonrudenham3259 7 років тому +59

    Holy mother of god!
    Is that what a well behaved dog looks like?
    I've just had a go at my Yorkie with the kitchen scissors and I thought it looked good until I watched this and now I know he looks like a semi plucked chicken.
    To be fair though,he is a bit mental, I KNOW for sure that if this talented lady tried this with 'Teddy' (Wifes idea, I was all for 'Chucky') he would have bitten part of her face off, crapped on the table then went down the pub for a game of darts and a pint.
    My problem is that the wife is in Benidorm for a week with her mates and Chuc., erm, Teddys hair won't grow back before that, so ............short of faking a terrible but fictitious accident which involved the vet having to shave the little sod bald or keeping him covered in mud for a few weeks what am I going to do?
    I'm not paying thirty odd quid for a haircut for a dog, not when mine costs six quid.

    • @NicoleGuarnera
      @NicoleGuarnera 7 років тому +19

      ANTON RUDENHAM theres a reason why you pay so much obviously. do you not see how much work it takes? and this is just the head, on a WELL BEHAVED dog. the whole rest of the body needs a haircut too. and most of the time we need to dematt it because they havent been brushed. then we have to bathe, dry and cut it. it takes hours. you technically are getting a steal if your paying 30 quid for the amount of literal crap groomers put up with to make your dog look and feel good. if you went to your barber, and hadnt bathed or brushed your hair in a month and had twigs, plants and knots everywhere, tried to bite him, pissed on him, crapped everywhere, barked in his face, wouldnt sit still, was covered in hair like a sasquatch, received a colonoscopy, had bugs and crap picked off your anus, brushed your teeth, gave you a manicure and pedicure, and then gave you a complicated haircut as you spin around in a circle excitedly, do you really think your charge would still be 6 quid? careful with those kitchen scissors btw, the vet is more expensive than the groomer.

      There is no such thing as a mini or regular size. Some are born smaller than others. They range from four to seven pounds in the show lines but pet yorkies can be 12 to 15 pounds. This yorkie is on the smaller size around 5 pounds. Some breeders put a name on them like mini so they can sell them for more money but they are all yorkies in the end.

      Normally it does not take that long. It's taking longer because I am making a video. I am not a speedy groomer anyway, I prefer to take my time and be relaxed with the dog. I used to be faster when younger. I find the dogs are better when they are not rushed through.

      She will look like a yorkie even if she was bald. She is not a poor baby, she is a happy clean and has an easy to care for hair style. She is fine, I assure you. Not everyone likes to keep their yorkie in a long coat. Its hard to keep up and cost more at the groomers for the longer styles.

      No, that would be you before your comments! If you think you know better then build your own channel instead of being negative in others people's work.

    Sorry for my comment but: OMG :-( so long....and this poor dog is so quiet and calm:-( Very unprofessional

      What is so unprofessional? Grooming a small dog takes about one hour and a half. Do you think it should be rushed instead of relaxed? Why is the dog a poor dog? Would you prefer the dog never to get groomed or rushed and thrown around? Your comment does not make sense. Grooming takes a while. Nothing is harming this dog, he actually enjoys it and the attention instead of just sitting around the house doing nothing.
