Just a little question, do you do ventral slots on dogs showing signs of just neck pain without other neuro deficits? Or was the dog not responsive to conservative management?

Hey had a question for you guys. I have a 5 year old irish wolfhound she had a type II Hansen injury. She slipped on the hardwood floor which caused this about a year and a half ago. She has had an MRI. She has undergone laser and hyrdro therapy. She shows classic signs of neck pain and discomfort, not holding her head up, panting, not wanting to put weight on her forelimb which has resulted in forelimb weakness, resistance of moving the leg forward all the way while laying down, neck stiffness, pain when moving her neck to the affected side. She had temporary paralysis of the left side which seemed to resolve. She runs in her sleep quite hard. She has a great disposition.Would she possibly a surgical candidate with it being this far from the injury? I could send you guys videos of her gait patterns and the MRI. We've gone to so many vets and PTs at this point!

Hello Abner, we know how difficult it is to see your pet experiencing neurological symptoms. Unfortunately, in order to give clinical advice, our Neurologist requires that pets be seen for a thorough workup. You can request a consultation by calling the location nearest you. sevneurology.com
