This is absolutely amazing. I thought i was gonna watch a random restoration video, not an amazing story of someone's life impacted by this amazing car. What an amazing, wonderful story.
I can only dream of owning a classic Z, thanks for the heart warming story, she’s a real beauty. It’s memories that make cars personal. I hope you enjoy her for many years to come ❤
Beautiful car... and an even more beautiful story. I know how hard the Minnesota winters can be... I lived in the twin cities for 14 years. I'm surprised the rust wasn't way worse.
I owned a '74 260 and miss it to this day. Congratulations on you restoring your "76 280Z. GREAT cars. Congratulations on your life and family, most of all!
Great story, enjoyed the video. A girl friend of mine had a blue one just like it and once in a while she let me drive it. Man was it fun and fast. It was 1977 in Walnut Creek CA.
Wow, what a great story and beautiful car! This really caught my eye because my first S30 was a 76 that my step father purchased for me back in the late 80s when I was in college. It was a funky pale yellow green called "leaf green." I never liked it so I had it painted British Racing Green, just like yours! I now have a 72 s30 that I love very much and plan to pass it on to my son some day.
Beautiful job! My favorite classic Z car color was this British Green but with mustard colored interior. Personally I would have gone with 240Z chrome bumpers and used 16" bronze wheels with chrome lips.
My old girlfriend bought one. It was so quick that she was afraid to drive it.1978 280z automatic. So, she said, here. You drive it. First cruise down the boulevard, the gas pedal stuck to the floor. I reached down and pulled it up because I didn't want to put it in neutral, over Rev it and float the lifters. In a few seconds, it went from 0-80 mph on a crowded A1A Friday night. The next day, I sprayed all the mechanisms with WD40. It was fine after that. Great memory, Nancy.
Probably the best restoration I have seen. One worthy of notice if not promotion by the guys at Nissan/Peugeot (Formerly Datsun in USA) As for your beautiful 280Z (Fairlady).... INDEED SHE IS! Well done!
One of my earliest memories as a 2 year was the neighbor across the street had a Z with the exact green color and those racing wheels back in the mid 70s.
It's mostly original. There are some upgrades, obviously the speakers and stereo, but also there are fuel injection upgrades on the car too. That said I have never seen a 280z this nice and still mostly original. Some of those parts, like the bumper surrounds are probably difficult to find and expensive. Most people delete them and install earlier 240z bumpers since they look so much better than the park bench bumpers on the 76.
When working for Eastern Airlines in Tallahassee I had a new 1976 Oldsmobile Starfire and a Friend of mine had a new 1976 Datsun 280 Z. Mine was an automatic V6, his a stick shift. We raced through Tallahassee one night side by side, neck in neck, he got off the light a foot quicker than I and it stayed that way for 5 miles.
A 280Z in British Racing Green was my fantasy car as a teenager. My Datsun 710 was a far cry from this beauty. It's a shame they make you bolt that license plate on the front bumper. DOT should make exceptions for classic cars like this one. Congrats on the rebuild!
Lots of good things happened in 1976. It was the year NASA introduced the Space Shuttle to the general public. It was the year the Concorde made it's first commercial flights. It was the year Scorcese made Taxi Driver. And it was the year I was born. Good things all around.
First rate restoration and with a wonderful complimentary story only a Z lover could appreciate. I too courted my future wife with a blue '76 Z car. We had her for over 13 years up until our first born. I hadn't driven her much afterwards but never planned to be rid of her either. One day she was gone. The Philadelphia Parking Authority had towed her away as my registration had expired. While in the process of retrieving her they inadvertently sold my car at auction. (The car was stolen a few years back and the thief removed the VIN plate. The PPA required that I replace this b4 they released her.) Needless to say I have a lifelong hate for them.
What an amazing car and story beautiful. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story of you your car your wife your dad and your dad's business history. Congrats and happy 72nd birthday.👍👌👏🙏✌️💯💝
Time restores ALL things...congrats from former owner and a fellow 'Z' man...Noah's flood could not wipe out My memories of My '73 240...and My 1980 maroon t-topped 280 'Zs'
How many work hours did this take? It must have cost much more than 100k. I mean, the result is quite amazing, but I wonder if it must have been prohibitively expensive.
Did you purchase this new? I bought the exact same car, exact same color in 1977. I bought it slightly used, less than 8,000 miles, from a friend who had been laid off from his job as a heavy machine operator. I paid $6400, which was about $500 less than the sticker. Not sure how you managed to buy one for less than $4k.
back when I was young #old phart, that was the cheap car a p plater, (Australia) bought when he couldn't afford a Torana and both are now f off expensive
This is absolutely amazing. I thought i was gonna watch a random restoration video, not an amazing story of someone's life impacted by this amazing car. What an amazing, wonderful story.
Love these beautiful old survivors, so glad she had a fantastic owner like you. Great story.
I sat through your slides like I high school lesson eyes wide with amazement. That was not a restoration that was a factory reset. Awesome 🎉
So beautifully restored! And the paint work is so shiny and glossy. And a great story. Wow!

Great story, enjoyed the video. A girl friend of mine had a blue one just like it and once in a while she let me drive it. Man was it fun and fast. It was 1977 in Walnut Creek CA.
Thanks for sharing your story. It's a nice one. I own a 78 280z an hopefully will pass it on to my son, when gas prices are too expensive LOL

Loved all of it. I LOVE British Racing Green - ever since I was a kid.
That car deservs to be in a museum. Looks factory new amazing work!
Wow, like the day it rolled off the showroom floor. My Dad owned a 71 silver 240Z back in the day. These are beautiful machines.
Probably the best restoration I have seen. One worthy of notice if not promotion by the guys at Nissan/Peugeot (Formerly Datsun in USA) As for your beautiful 280Z (Fairlady).... INDEED SHE IS! Well done!
This was fantastic! Fantastic story and fantastic job!
Hello Doug. This is a beautiful story, my story is similar except I still have not finished restoring the car 37 years later! Hahahahahaha
One of my earliest memories as a 2 year was the neighbor across the street had a Z with the exact green color and those racing wheels back in the mid 70s.
What a beautiful story and I love the finished car.
Great story beautiful car, glad to see you kept it all original 😊

El detalle de la restauración es fino y minucioso, felicidades. La historia de vida es aún mejor que la restauración, felicidades de nuevo !!

I miss my 1982 280zx turbo… loved that car
There’s always a special story with our Z cars . I’ve had mine since 1989
A car from 1976 get restored in 2020 without any putty applied to the body - amazing condition.
Beautiful car ❤
If you have the money you can make amazing things happen❤
Better than the original factory quality

Nice car but I think the original color code was 240..known as Racing Green. I don't think Datsun called it British Racing Green

Hi based in the UK Z club would like to do a write up on the car for a magazine ?
Please let me know what you would need from us.

looks like all new parts engine hoses how much was all this and is it worth it lol looks great
Beautiful car beautiful colour the only bad bit are those
AM spec bumpers.....no disrespect but the euro
Bumpers are a much more appealing spec.
Could someone give me the name of the piano song at the beginning?! Shazam doesn't recognize it and no info in the description.
TAKE THAT BUMPER OFF!
I would always think how they will put all those nuts and screws back.. It would be a nightmare for me.
how many time bro ?
back when I was young #old phart, that was the cheap car a p plater, (Australia) bought when he couldn't afford a Torana
and both are now f off expensive
and I
want my SSS 180b back
I recommend muting to enjoy this video.
Beautiful cars. Nissan unfortunately haven't produced a decent car for a couple of decades, compared what they did before.
Uh.... Altima?
Great cars, but prone to rust…
👍🇨🇿
ZX wheels!
цвет не очень , вишневый металик самое то , или серебристый темный металик ,или белый , тот же синий
❤เราดูสะรีละ ok❤
Just make a video not a photo show.
You missed the point.
@@IAmSpeaking4MySelfThere is no point. It's a freaking slide show.
