Phase Shift on the PC. It works with any Midi eDrum kit with full hi-hat and cymbals (or guitar, keyboard, etc), and utilizes songs from all the guitar hero/rock band games.
The “Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer” on IOS is clunky but for $3 it is worth checking out if you want to check your timing and practice with standard notation. Not really a game but you can compete with yourself. I think by default they set it tapping the screen and don't make it obvious that you can turn on the mic.

Oh definitely Especially after losing my right side motor skills in a car accident I had to relearn drums as a lefty and did that with rockband And now I play my td30 granted I physically can’t play everything I’d love to and yeah it’s frustrating at times but I can still play some stuff in general you know
Clone Hero, Rock Band 3, and Phase Shift are hands down the best rhythm games that help you learn drums. I've been playing rock band and guitar since the drums came out and its what inspired me to get an acoustic kit. Now I have an e-kit and I have it set up to play on Clone Hero and I learn something new everyday. There's so many features on it nowadays. Song some show you what are and aren't ghost notes, which notes are accented, the difference between open and closed hi-hat, flams, etc. If you understand the basics of drumming its extremely useful to use. Mike Caputo(ex-Rings Of Satrun) makes songs for the game. Blake Richardson if BTBAM has given praise to players for playing his songs so well. At the end of the day, its a video game. But so many people use it for much more than just a game; its essentially a virtual visualized drum tab.
I got Rockband Christmas 2007 right when it came out i was 15, got my first real drumset Christmas of 2009 been playing ever since :) ended up giving my rockband drumset to a nice kid for free because he asked about it but didnt have the money, hope he also plays drums now
The secret to rockband if you're already a musician is to play on expert, especially if you know the song already. Once I realized that, it became much more fun and doable. Now I play clone hero hooked up to my roland e-kit with pro cymbals so it's about as realistic as it gets.
I first learned how to play drums using Rock Band. I play around 50 real life gigs a year with a cover band and I have rock band to thank for that. Rock Band teaches you thousands of grooves, fills and more. The practice mode is great as well because you can practice songs at a slower tempo. The only down side to rock band is that it doesn't really teach you dynamics, hi hat lifting or any other real world drum stuff like tuning. I still play rock band to this day using an electronic drum kit and it's awesome!
I would say the only things missing about Rock Band are flams, open/close hi-hat and double bass (not only on a few songs). Other than that, it's the same as actually playing the song, and with an electronic drum is a blast. When I have to learn a song I actually check if it's on Rock Band, it's easier for me to learn it there.
I'm using my acoustic drum set on no fail mode, which is awesome because it mutes the drum track. I've learned where to add in open/closed high hats, they do kind of chart them. There are people using PhaseShift and mapping high hats and the bell on cymbal hits, even using 7 track scrolls. I have a couple of videos posted.
Rock Band was the thing that first introduced me to drumming, and to this day it's my favourite way to play. I have auditory processing issues, which makes learning by ear particularly challenging. Sheet music for songs I like isn't often easy to find or access, and learning from sheet music just feels a bit 'academic'. But playing songs through a game like Rockband (Or the modern equivalent Clone Hero) hooked up to a standard e-kit, is the easiest way for me to learn songs, and has that 'gameified' element that makes it more fun. When you've got the calibration set up correctly, and especially if you're playing it with an e-kit, it's an exceptional tool for learning drums. It's a more intuitive and visually appealing alternative to traditional sheet music, you get feedback on mistakes (by dropping your streak).
I've been playing an acoustic set on no fail mode. I also started from just playing RockBand. And I completely agree with you on sheet music. It's hard to find and even harder to follow. I've seen some programs that put the sheet into a continuous scroll with a bar for timing, but it was still hard to find sheet music to put into the program. And at 54 yrs old, those notes were hard to see.....hehehe. I don't get a score, but it's still very satisfying to play along with some of my favorite songs.
Used to play Rock Band and Guitar Hero; drums were obviously the most fun instrument because they were closest to the real thing (well, except vocals). My brother got a fancy drum controller with rubber cymbals like on a normal electronic kit; apparently you could hook it up to a DAW or something and use them like regular electronic drums. I don't think he ever got around to setting that up, but it could make a nice transition from gamer to musician.
07:18 Taiko No Tatsujin I used to be very obsessed with this cute drum game, and also organized various national competitions with the arcade version! This game is great for rhythms as there are many applications on percussion and drums. The best part is that Taiko No Tatsujin game inspired me to be a percussionist/drummer. ❤️💛💚💙💜
Been playing taiko no tatsujin for a few good months, got inspired to actually learn drums because of how much i liked it! I only realized recently that it helped my learning a lot, my sense of rhythm and timing is better than moat starting out. Not to mention the main part, it made me realize how cool and rewarding it was to practice the songs I liked in a fun setting! :) A part of the game that's really cool, it doesn't penalize you for filling in empty gaps with drumming, so I get to show off when playing competitively online.
I finally posted a few videos of me using the Rockband scroll to play my son's acoustic drum set. I'm a dirt biker that plays video games, not a drummer. I'm too broken at 54 to ride any more, so now I drum 5-8 hrs per week for exercise. And it's super fun!!! I enjoyed playing the game, but playing a real drum set is a lot more satisfying. I tried sheet music....that was a fail, lol. But I've been picking up tips from places like Drumeo to improve. I can play songs now that I couldn't when I started, so progress, yeah!!
ROCKBAND 3 with a digital drum set and midi controller on Playstation 3. I played hours and hours and decided to learn for real based on my time on the above setup. That's how I found your channel. 😁
As a rhythm game player and drummer (concert percussion, marching percussion, etc.), this is a really amazing video. I play stuff like DDR, Beatmania IIDX, osu!, etc. At 14:23 Those sticks are called Bachi. The sticks for the taiko drums and the taiko no tatsujin game.
What's so great about rockband, is that all these drumless songs can be found on youtube, and you can just play along. I personally find it much easier to read than regular notes, because it has different colors, and it's less cluttered with details (I tend to remember those anyway). It's a really important thing I use, example, I'm currently training quintuplets, and there's "the grudge" by tool on youtube, and it took me just a few days to learn that entire song, despite its complicated structure. If you really wanted to play the game itself (I don't care for it, I prefer listening and correcting myself that way, rather than let the computer correct me), you don't need much hardware, there are midi controllers for 40 or so bucks that will convert the midioutput on your drumset to the outputs of an xbox controller.
I have a PS VR2 and Beat Saber is to my surprise one of the most enjoyable games. I'm a former drummer but I'm not sure it helps a lot. There are some crazy youtube videos, people doing difficult songs at the expert+ mode, first attempts. Like this girl, Otterwoldly. I don't think I will ever get at her level.
Guitar Hero got me into playing bass and guitar 13 years ago and now I'm in a touring band lol. Also, I REALLY want to play Taiko no Tatsujin, that game looks like the most fun out of anything.
Love this video. Thanks for this one guys. FYI, I started playing RockBand10 years ago which led to me getting an E-kit and playing RockBand on my kit. You can set the game to pro and just play the song. I have learned to play over 1000 songs from the video game. I watch Drumeo for tips on practicing technique. RockBand, and Drumeo literally taught me to play drums. Thanks guys!! Keep the awesome content coming.
Is it really like playing the song? I'm just starting out and enjoy rock band learning much more than reading notes but people say I'm picking up bad habits (dead left foot etc). Good to know someone had success with this method!
@@victorbeauchamp5511 I have software on a tablet that lets me play the actual song, including proper use of the hi hat, flams, and ghost notes, and converts my midi information to the game midi, so for me it is a good and fun tool. You still have to practice and be aware of what you should be doing, and always remember, it is a game and not a substitute for playing with other musicians. I have fun with it, and have learned a lot, but I still am thinking about taking lessons. Never stop growing. Hope that helped.
@@samsbeats5297 thanks for the reply! May I ask what software? I'm loving playing my Alesis to Rockband especially with the amp cranked but I'm worried I'll never be able to play right. I started with drumeo etc but it puts me to sleep. Playing the classics though and understanding it's the unique/genius drum beats that made me love the song blows my mind 🤯 (like the ride on Doors Break on Through). Your guys are a great community and you made me feel my goal is possible so thank you! 🙏
I understand keeping things simple... but there is an opportunity to have ALOT more fun and real playing with Rockband. Rockband 3 has Pro Drums which adds cymbals. Then connect a Roland V-Drum kit with a Rockband Midi Adapter. Finally turn the drum track off in the game. Now you get the timing feedback and song scores plus the dynamics, feel and sounds of a real kit. The only downside to Rockband is it doesn't teach dynamics, but with the setup above, you can play dynamically. I use a TDW20 in Pro Drums on Expert and there are some really challenging and fun songs available. One more tip... in the options menu you can keep the real fills instead of a generic "do anything" bar. It is fun to improvise fills, but playing the original track fills requires clean playing with a good understanding of that drummer's style. I have 30yrs playing experience and have advanced considerably just from playing RB3. All the songs are transcribed so it's a great way to learn new styles of drumming and music. Sight-reading, listening skills and relaxed play has been improved greatly. 10/10
I think this hobby inspire positive attitudes towards learning, being social and music. Good way to share with others in the future. Playing music keeps people healthy and smart at all ages and families. Thanks for making this awesome video. Good way to develop an awesome hobby
I’d say I’m a fairly solid drummer for the most part for having my drumset for a little less than a year and I think rock band and guitar hero truly helped me get a little bit of a head start and even when I did start playing drums I would have drum charts similar to rock band help me out when I was first starting and found it very useful
I still play rock band 4. I ported all the previous game songs into it and got a connector for my electric kit. Very fun to play “real” drums while friends play the fake instruments
26:52 You can put custom songs on it, idk how hard it is, because I never do that on Rock Band, but if you have a PC, you can play games like Clone Hero or Phase Shift, and you can put Custom Songs on it really easily... The Drums section on Clone Hero is still under development, but you can get the Public Test Builds from their Discord channel...
hey guys, I loved that y'all did this! I remember hooking up the RCA cables from my PS2 to an old TV and some big speakers in my practice shed, throwing on Guitar Hero Metallica (on practice mode) and playing for hours on my actual kit. It quickly became one of the most precious resources i had when it came to practicing on the kit as a teenager. The rhythms are all there and if you know the song, you can associate the colors with your different drums/cymbals.
i played Rockband for 3 years plus before transiting to learn on playing a real drum set and it went even further now. But my opinion is that it helps if you have so much passion to actually spend money to buy a real Vdrum and convert to play on rockband with setup as real as possible (including placing more single zone cymbals). ** you need to play on Expert Pro drum difficulty It will help to build up your time keeping and certain basic stickings when you want to pick up drumming
For Rockband/Guitar Hero you can download Clone Hero (community made Guitar Hero clone) on your computer for free, hook up your electronic drums with a usb and just play! It has a big library with people in the community constantly creating new charts and best of all, it’s free!
A great way to use rock band (especially pro mode) when you're used to the correspondence between drums/cymbals and colors, you can actually play on real drums while watching the drum chart of the game (sometimes you have to check what the drums really do, but in general you get the idea from the game).
You can get better drums for Guitar Hero and Rockband. I got interested in drums, bass, and singing from these games. Was interested before, but got to see it conceptualized more. Lit a fire, took lessons and now I play bass pretty regularly, and drums. The slight lag is the only real issue I have.
I use the Rock Band 3 scroll on no fail mode to play my acoustic drums, with a 2000 watt stereo. The scroll isn't perfect, but as I've played more you start to learn to supplement the scroll, like when the blue is an open high hat. I play for exercise, and it's just damn fun. I'll move over to youtube for RB4, Phase Shift, and Clone Hero when I want a little more of a challenge. But I have almost 2000 songs on RB3, so a lot of choices of genre, tempo, timing.
Thumper is so much easier to follow in vr. You see whats coming so much clearer when its actually coming at you. Also you can play beat saber on an oculus quest, which you can get everything you need for $400/£400
+1 for Thumper VR. It's one of the most intense rhythm experiences and the call and response structure is really fun to wrap your head around. Playing it in VR is also not even remotely "visually overloading" or anything, although some enemies will make you feel existential dread for sure. One of the best rhythm games if played as it is meant to be played - with a headset on your head.
a small tip for rockband before you calibrate turn on dolby D and make sure your tv is in game mode, also try the hatsuni miku game on the switch or ps3 .
I was that teen that never touched drums before Rock Band came out, but started everything on expert and was able to play most songs. At least it lead me to actually getting a proper kit for my birthday.
OK, so some people has commented on using a e-kit with Rock Band I actually play Rock Band 3 with mine. You need a controller that can convert MIDI to the MIDI that the controller transmits to the XBOX (Playing in XBOX). I play with the setting as Expert and DrumsPro, then you will have a distinction among the cymbals and the toms (Same colors but different icon) that of course correspond to different MIDI, you can even set the high hat open or close with a different color (blue, yellow) and the foot (as yellow again) so you have that action as well (again as I said I know first hand since I am doing so). If you want double pedal, no problem, again it is you regular e-Kit just set the MIDI note and that's all! Regarding the limitation in songs there are websites were you can legally download songs created by fans to play with the game. Those songs that are in the game are liked on those sites to the game's DLC site for you to buy them from RockBand and download or if it doesn't exist there you can get it from the fans. So to me it is pretty much a 9/10 and really great for fun, even practice drumming. Definitely a great game
I use to play best saber for exercise on expert, was a heck of a work out and very fun, but honestly I found guitar hero/rock band drumming a really good work out and more enjoyable, i'm slowing working my way up to a midi drum kit, as i've recently got clone hero for pc and that supports rock band/guitar hero drums and even midi drums, its really the best version and has thousands of songs.
I agree there need to be more video games like Rock Band to introduce people to music! I remember when Rock Band came out, it was really expensive so I could never afford it. The one song I ever played "Yellow Submarine" stuck in my head. As I just started learning drums this year, it is one of the first songs I have learned on a drum set. Thanks for all your amazing videos. I learn so much from this channel!
For anyone still looking 2 years later, Clone Hero now has drums pro-mode with custom songs and can be played with any e-drum kit with USB or MIDI. Much more realistic that way
I consider myself upper intermediate (maybe...barely) and I LOVE ROCK BAND...something truly enjoyable about being scored and trying to nail a track with gold stars (perfect). The song selection isn't very limited if you know how to download them.....
Thank you very much for this video, if I haven't got the idea earlier I would have bought Rockband after watching this video. 😁 I had the idea of learning the drums last fall, just popped in my head at the age of 27. I tried to learn guitar about 10 years ago but it wasn't my thing. And just last fall I realized that I have always listened especially on the drums when listening to music and so I bought Rockband to see if my independence of limbs and rythm feeling is working. It was a lot of fun, but I wanted a more realistic feeling. So I sold the Rockband stuff and bought Rockband 3, a midi adapter and a TD 4 KP (unfortunately I don't have space for a larger kit and living in a flat it's not possible to play a-drums) in January. So now I'm practicing with lessons on youtube and Rockband 3 and the internal coach of the e-drum kit and very happy with it. When I practice with Rockband I only put one earbud in so I can hear what I'm playing plus the audio from the game. I can confirm that it trains your ear and you notice when you should open the hi-hat for example, which is not included in the game. So what about trying Rockband 3 on Pro-Drums mode with an e-kit next time? 😁
I would check out the Pro Drums difficulty on rock band that was introduced with, I believe, Rock Band 3? As a beginner drummer, the main way I practice is playing along with the Pro Drums tracks on my electric kit, and if you've got the right sounds on your kit, you're almost spot on with playing the actual song. You can look up other people playing the songs on UA-cam and just play along, you don't even need the actual game (given someone has made a video of it). I think that'd give you a much better rating on how well it helps to learn real drums. The only thing lacking is open and closed hi-hat hits, but all that takes is a little bit of listening to recognize what you need to do for it :)
I was a guitarist which the first guitar hero got me into playing a real guitar. I was really good at guitar hero but obviously doesn't translate into real guitar. Guitar hero Metallica came out and my roommates loved to play it but at that point playing expert was a little boring unless you play harder songs and everyone else couldn't even hold a drumstick right so I at least learned that and worked my way up to expert in a few weeks. Wasn't great but we all had a good time. Later I bought rock band 4 and really got interested in the drumming part so I played as many songs as I could then bought the extra kit for expert plus. Still wasn't great but could play most songs. I enjoyed it so much I decided to try real drums but couldn't get a real kit so I bought a cheap electric drum set and fell in love. Ended up getting a better kit with some practice within 4 months. I defended to go get lessons and my drum teacher was impressed with the fact I only played rock band and have been playing electric drums for only 4 months. I still had to learn the nuisances of real drums cause my lessons were on real kits but my teacher thought I was a player for over a year on my first lesson and I just told him I learned from rock band. Later he did explain i missed out on some key details and I wasn't good with a high hat but after he got me working on that stuff he said he doesn't think rock band is a great starting place because you miss out on the little things that are important but if you learn the beats on rock band and practice real drums he agreed that he greatly improved the rate i was learning because it was a fun way to learn and kept my hands and limbs moving. Tldr rock band drums helped me get a good basis and along with playing a real kit can show some improvement that's entertaining. Would I be better if I did timed practice instead of rock band maybe but it made me want to try and get better to keep up with the game so kept me enjoying practice so I ended up "playing" more.
You should try Rhythm Heaven/Rhythm Tengoku (another Nintendo Game). Each mini game are different, and some of them are copied by a thousands of mobile games. Regardless the game is pretty old so you need a Wii or a 3DS or a DS to play. I guess the new version is still in the work, who knows?
I do this regularly. I set up my laptop with ear buds and pick out a lot of metal songs on a drum chart. So it's like reading tabs as a guitarist. I can learn songs fairly quickly like from Dream Theater. Unless you have a super fine ear or can read music it's the best way to go.
man, 2 years later and I'm still pissed that they weren't playing rock band 4, way better drum set and they keep *slowly* pumping out new songs... I would love to see their reaction to that game...
Don’t know if y’all will see this, but you should look into clone hero using an E-kit. It’s taking a realistic kit and putting rock band gameplay to it. Pretty fun!
Anytime anyone talks about Rock Band and says it's not for expert drummers, I pray one day they will look up "rock band expert pro drums" on youtube and watch a video. A little research goes a long, long way.
This was a really fun watch also don’t quote me on this but I think that you can use a real electronic drum kit to play rock band instead of the cheap plastic one that comes with the game but I could be wrong I think I heard this from 65drums I think he talks about it in the video called the drum module with the best coaching feature. If anybody is interested
RingFit Adventure here in Thailand is super outrageously expensive. It's around $200-$300 currently. The demand is super high and the store obviously taking advantage of it lol.
Without watching, let me chime in. If you're a musician, you won't be very good at a game like Rock Band, especially on the 'instrument' that you play for real. However, if you AREN'T a musician, this can be a good step toward getting into music. The guitar buttons teach you to stretch your fingers apart, and to slide your hand up and down the neck. The drums though- especially if you get the Pro Drum cymbals- are a huge step toward simulating a standard kit. If you can get into Pro Drums on Rock Band, then you can begin to apply what you learn toward a real drum kit. I've been playing Rock Band since it first came out, and currently have well over $1,000 invested in DLC alone. A couple months ago, I bought a digital drum kit, and I've been following along with Pro Drum track videos on UA-cam to learn how to play songs on it. There are a few imperfections with this, but once you learn which blue cymbals are ride cymbals vs. which ones are open high-hat cymbals, it gets a lot smoother. Is Rock Band good for learning to drum? If you've never drummed before, then yes, absolutely. It's a fantastic starting point for learning with a much softer price of entry. I've probably spent close to $500 on my kit, and it thankfully is cheaper than an acoustic kit, but if you want to just figure it out, $100 for a Rock Band 'Band in a Box' bundle is really good.
I didn't know it back then, but I think playing Band Hero on the drums more than guitar was what led to my playing drums later. Probably why I was somewhat natural starting off. Still took time to get used to but. Rock Band is definitely not the same as playing the real instruments, but I think it is pretty good and helpful in a weird way. The taiko game is pretty fun too, I never played taikos before prior to playing it in a shopping centre arcade. Good fun😄🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁.
Taiko no Tatsujin is also available on PC and you can get the drum peripheral separately for about 80 bucks. Also the Train Train song is a cover of a Japanese punk band called The Blue Hearts. The original is much better lol.
Love this different style of content too - I think you guys might have actually gone too far on the camera work, the reaction cam + game play footage would be sufficient for most of the discussion and a little less distracting, and then just with a few cutaways for general discussion/summarizing after playing the games maybe
Rock band (Or clone Hero, for those wanting drum games on PC) is actually better with an Electronic drum kit with a snare, 3 toms, a hihat, and two cymbals. it is actually a pretty realistic game for drummers. (Not that much for guitar players, but still fun) Next time you should try Clone Hero with a custom song and an Ekit. Believe me, youll love it (Theres also YARG, if you prefer a more Rock bandish experience)
I got Guitar Hero (similar to Rock Band) with the full band gear over a decade ago and that made me wanna buy a real drum kit and yeah if you're playing Expert you're pretty much playing the song, which I thought was amazing. You just gotta make sure you calibrate the settings right. I've also got Ring Fit Adventure a few months ago and the rhythm game part is just a small minigame, for those who didn't know. The whole appeal is being a fitness game so it's definitely more about working out (made me laugh when you said "why is my squat not registering?" bc you really need to squat the f down), the whole game is fun and intense but the minigames are mostly for fun, I like it.
with rock band, I want to bring up a game called clone hero. In the most recent public test builds of the game, they allow support for e-drums. so it's pretty much the same thing as rock band, but you can have a more songs than almost if not all the rock band games with dlc combined.
I'd like to mention Kyle Brownlee, drummer of the band Counterparts. He literally learned the drums by playing Rock Band, and now he's one of the tightest drummers I've ever seen.
OH MAN!!!! I remember the craze around guitar hero. Ny teacher had about 5 student due to guitar hero And only ONE student stayed with it. The funny thing is musicians, more than often suck at it
OK, I don't see any comments about this from my CTRL + F (edit, there were some in comment threads) so you missed an open-source game that emulates the Konami Japan drummania (GITADORA) franchise called DTXMania. It's a bit like Rock Band in that the chips come down the screen and you need to hit them in time, but that's where the similarities end. You can hook up any eDrum kit (with USB Midi out) to your PC and install this game then play with up to 10 pads. Double-bass and open/closed hi-hats are supported. I've got a Yamaha DTX-452K set up with the extra ride cymbal module and it plays extremely well. There is a strong community out there that makes the simfiles (the "software" that makes each song work). While the focus is on Asian tracks, there is a growing community of western simfiles that you can get your hands on. I confess to learning how to play drums (and learning bad habits because I didn't have an instructor correcting my mistakes) on drummania in the arcade back in the 90s and early 2000's and would've spent over $1000 on credits on the game, but I don't regret a single dollar spent. The software also has a practical purpose in that you can code your own rudiment tracks and practice your drum technique with real-time judgement on your timing. Here's an example: ua-cam.com/video/Oo87Uo2eE_Q/v-deo.html
Taiko no tatsujin is my favorite rhythm game all time for sure! I Play for 3 years now start in easy mode now i can beat 7 stars oni! Lol I start play drums 1 year before start play taiko no tatsujin =D
Just an FYI, Rock Band DLC releases is still going on until today! That and they have over 2000 songs available to buy if you think the setlist is getting stale. As for instrument availability, it's pretty hit or miss on availability and price.
What rhythm games should Jared and Dave try next?
Phase Shift on the PC. It works with any Midi eDrum kit with full hi-hat and cymbals (or guitar, keyboard, etc), and utilizes songs from all the guitar hero/rock band games.
WiiMusic would be hilarious... Have Jared and Dave rock out on drum kits on WiiMusic!
Taiko no tatsujin
The “Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer” on IOS is clunky but for $3 it is worth checking out if you want to check your timing and practice with standard notation. Not really a game but you can compete with yourself. I think by default they set it tapping the screen and don't make it obvious that you can turn on the mic.
You should play just dance for the wii. Let’s see who has the better moves, lol.

Rock Band introduced me not only to drumming, but to great bands I still listen to, to this day.
Drums much fun on pro drums on Rockband 2-4 cause it adds cymbals, and it makes you feel like you're actually playing actual drums
Always remember to run through calibration settings on rhythm games due to video/sound lag depending on your AV setup.
07:18 Taiko No Tatsujin
I used to be very obsessed with this cute drum game, and also organized various national competitions with the arcade version!
This game is great for rhythms as there are many applications on percussion and drums. The best part is that Taiko No Tatsujin game inspired me to be a percussionist/drummer. ❤️💛💚💙💜
It’s mine too.
:3
I really wanna play it, it looks so fun! Quite expensive for me to buy though, sadly.
@@ishanimazumder3064 got it on sale black Friday for 9.98
Been playing taiko no tatsujin for a few good months, got inspired to actually learn drums because of how much i liked it! I only realized recently that it helped my learning a lot, my sense of rhythm and timing is better than moat starting out. Not to mention the main part, it made me realize how cool and rewarding it was to practice the songs I liked in a fun setting! :)
A part of the game that's really cool, it doesn't penalize you for filling in empty gaps with drumming, so I get to show off when playing competitively online.
I have played Rockband a lot with a midi pro adapter and a electric drum kit . Some of the most fun. Alway try expert first.
@@samsbeats5297 Hi Sam what's the software please 🙏 🙏 🙏
You gotta try rockband 4 and add the pro cymbals way more extensive library and better equipment
And you can play with an e-kit if you want to
To this day Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Clone Hero, Yarg, Phase Shift are some the best ways to actually ease yourself into drumming and it's really fun
** you need to play on Expert Pro drum difficulty
It will help to build up your time keeping and certain basic stickings when you want to pick up drumming
But I have almost 2000 songs on RB3, so a lot of choices of genre, tempo, timing.
clone hero is the way to go!
Rock Band drums helped me a bunch when I was a kid
For anyone still looking 2 years later, Clone Hero now has drums pro-mode with custom songs and can be played with any e-drum kit with USB or MIDI. Much more realistic that way
I consider myself upper intermediate (maybe...barely) and I LOVE ROCK BAND...something truly enjoyable about being scored and trying to nail a track with gold stars (perfect). The song selection isn't very limited if you know how to download them.....
Thank you very much for this video, if I haven't got the idea earlier I would have bought Rockband after watching this video. 😁
I had the idea of learning the drums last fall, just popped in my head at the age of 27.
My pride hurts when I first play taiko no tatsujin as a drummer glad I’m not the only one who struggle at first lol
Thanks for sharing! 🙂
RB2 had Pro Drums.
This vid really underrated and deserves more.
the first drum kit i played on is rockband drums.
on wii, those drums were dope. cymbals and everything straight out the box
I do this regularly. I set up my laptop with ear buds and pick out a lot of metal songs on a drum chart. So it's like reading tabs as a guitarist. I can learn songs fairly quickly like from Dream Theater. Unless you have a super fine ear or can read music it's the best way to go.
with which game?
Gotta say, never thought I'd hear "Jump Up, Super Star" on Drumeo.
man, 2 years later and I'm still pissed that they weren't playing rock band 4, way better drum set and they keep *slowly* pumping out new songs... I would love to see their reaction to that game...
This is exactly what I expected and it did not disappoint. Haha. Love you, guys.
Don’t know if y’all will see this, but you should look into clone hero using an E-kit. It’s taking a realistic kit and putting rock band gameplay to it. Pretty fun!
Well since i now become drummer and no longer full time Jedi after the orde 66, i choose Taiko as my ultimate game👍🤟
Not a Drumming one, but anyone remember Parapper The Rapper. PS1 i think! That was Brilliant!
Bummed you didn't play Clone Hero with a full Roland kit
i play rock band 4 because i thought it would help me in drumming
Phase shift is still the current king of realism for drum track games
Anytime anyone talks about Rock Band and says it's not for expert drummers, I pray one day they will look up "rock band expert pro drums" on youtube and watch a video. A little research goes a long, long way.
This was a really fun watch also don’t quote me on this but I think that you can use a real electronic drum kit to play rock band instead of the cheap plastic one that comes with the game but I could be wrong I think I heard this from 65drums I think he talks about it in the video called the drum module with the best coaching feature. If anybody is interested
getting 100% on Humanoid by Tokio Hotel (on Expert Pro Drums) was what convinced me to switch from the stock Pro kit, to an Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit.
As a drummer I very much enjoyed & still do enjoy, beat saber 👍🏼💪🏼🔥
When you hit expert pro mode on drums it’s pretty on point with a real set of e drums
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback. 😉
Very entertaining! Thanks guys!
I got your trial to improve drumming and getting full combos in rock band/clone hero with my Alesis nitro mesh
Awesome video! I really enjoyed the format. I actually got into drums thanks to Rock Band 12 years ago!
Rock band (Or clone Hero, for those wanting drum games on PC) is actually better with an Electronic drum kit with a snare, 3 toms, a hihat, and two cymbals. it is actually a pretty realistic game for drummers. (Not that much for guitar players, but still fun)
Next time you should try Clone Hero with a custom song and an Ekit. Believe me, youll love it (Theres also YARG, if you prefer a more Rock bandish experience)
you guys should do a vr version of this with, paradiddle, tranzient, ragnarock, drum hero and any others
A rhythm game I find myself playing a lot of is Crypt of the Necrodancer! Would be awesome to see you give it a shot
Rock Band taught me how to play drums and I still owe it to the game
You freaking funny man when he said that BB beep sound, I couldn’t stop laughing
with rock band, I want to bring up a game called clone hero. In the most recent public test builds of the game, they allow support for e-drums. so it's pretty much the same thing as rock band, but you can have a more songs than almost if not all the rock band games with dlc combined.
I don't know if I'm going to get any of these games, but if I do, then I'll probably get Rock Band
I'd like to mention Kyle Brownlee, drummer of the band Counterparts. He literally learned the drums by playing Rock Band, and now he's one of the tightest drummers I've ever seen.
what the fuck. i used to watch his RB videos literally a decade ago. crazy!
My god, Drumeo, your missing on one of the greatest rhythm games for Drummers! GITADORA! You need to check it out!
Will do!
@@DrumeoOfficial love you! Be awesome as always!
OH MAN!!!! I remember the craze around guitar hero. Ny teacher had about 5 student due to guitar hero
And only ONE student stayed with it. The funny thing is musicians, more than often suck at it
If you want to keep the taiko drum in place, I’ve seen people use water bottles to weigh the drum down by putting them behind the drum.
Guitar Hero World Tour taught me how to play drums in 2010.
Later on I moved away from the game and developed my own playstyle :))
rockband with ekit is a 10 for sure
I've been play GH and RB for 20 years and kill it on expert drums. I have every game including DLC.
the didn’t play extreme mode in taiko no tatsujin >:(
OK, I don't see any comments about this from my CTRL + F (edit, there were some in comment threads) so you missed an open-source game that emulates the Konami Japan drummania (GITADORA) franchise called DTXMania.
Clone Hero with my electric drum kit
You guys should try dance dance Revolution !
Best quote: I can see some soccer moms loving this....I mean I'd love this. -Jared
there's also DTXmania which can take midi input from e-drums, though that takes some time to setup
Taiko no tatsujin is my favorite rhythm game all time for sure! I Play for 3 years now start in easy mode now i can beat 7 stars oni! Lol
I start play drums 1 year before start play taiko no tatsujin =D
Just an FYI, Rock Band DLC releases is still going on until today! That and they have over 2000 songs available to buy if you think the setlist is getting stale. As for instrument availability, it's pretty hit or miss on availability and price.
