Brilliant episode Charlie! Please make this a regular format, go on tour visiting a new town /city every week. This is your calling. #TheAlternaivetouristiBoard Thumbs up from me.
Great video of my old City and place I grew up in Charlie. The pub you spoke of must of been the Golden Lion. They used to take prisoner up near to Williamson Park to be hung, but would stop at the Golden Lion where they would let them have a half a pint before they were noosed and left to swing. Would love to move back there one day 🤞🤞
I want to call click bait on the "cottaging man" in the title.... but that was so wholesome and educational I just can't. Well done Philip Martin, a man who loves his job.
Never been to Lancaster, but what a really beautiful place, and it all seems so civilised. There's plenty to see and do it seems, and there didn't appear to be any run down areas. Obviously, the local council are spending people's hard earned taxes wisely! As they should do, on maintaining the surroundings, and giving the locals a City to be proud of. It's good to see that it hasn't been over developed, with lifeless soul-less architectural monstrosities, like you so often see in other towns. Well done Lancaster, I will add you to by travel bucket list!
Charles this was amazing video this is so much better than watching crack city well done think you need to tour around the country doing this so much better seeing nice places ❤️❤️❤️❤️💥💥💥💥
Charlie Boy, Watching the Lancaster video and I have to agree, what a lovely wee place. The cigarette break was an added bonus as I was joining you 🤣 Get on that train n come bk to Glasgow 🙏
I only live a couple of miles away from you Charlie and have never actually been to Lancaster but after watching this vid I will certainly be paying a visit. Cheers pal.
Wonderfully refreshing change from the usual dirge of society we generally see in your videos. More of this and less of the negativity please Charlie. 👍🙂
Great stuff. Also great to see that the support goes far and wide, the real ones and those willing and able to care seem to get it . Your on top form squire don't change a thing ... as if. ✌🏻💨
I think these are some of your best videos when you're out discovering new places, I enjoyed this one and the one you did the other day. 👍When your not being a nob or talking bollocks about Israel, you make some pretty good content 😉 Have a good one. 🌱
Thank you for visiting my home town. Would have been nice to meet you, if I'd have known. Glad you enjoyed the place. As for the busy roads... Just standard Lancaster traffic, I'm afraid lol.
Great video Charlie. I haven't been to Lancaster since 84. I stayed there a few times when my sister was at Lancaster Uni from 81 - 84. I enjoyed watching. Thank you 😊
I really enjoy you're day trip videos a great deal. So many historical and architecturally interesting towns so close by. When we were there years ago we had a britrail pass and tried to alternate touristy and non touristy locations. Cheltenham was a real find for us. Keep trucking charlie my boy.
Really enjoyed this one. I've lived within 25 mins of Lancaster my whole life and never knew about most of what you discovered on your day there. It's a great place with plenty of character. The Victoria statue park shown at the end is made into an ice rink in the winter time, with the statue as it's centerpiece 👍
Charlie, whilst watching your content I thought to myself why doesn’t Charlie book a helicopter or small aircraft flight to audit from the skies. I really enjoy your content. I live in East Anglia and what I really enjoy is that it isn’t Londoncentric. We have a beautiful country and there are more interesting things about our culture than that sewer of a city.
Great video this. Never been to Lancaster but gotta admit after this video I wanna go. And an added bonus not riddled with bag heads. Thx Charlie more of these fella.👍
handelsbanken means trading bank...charlies here in hamburg we also have the mudflood slanted streets with windows 4 storeys down, no who installs windows in cellars...no one because the real old world structures are below our feet everywhere. remember you dont build houses on side of hills or slants in the landscape you build your foundations on flat surfaces
I'm loving these visits to other towns and cities. Great videos. I can confirm Charlie is indeed tall af, after meeting him recently. I'm over 6 foot tall but I felt intimidated by his tallness.
Lancaster was the red rose and York was the white rose . There must have been a lot of battles up that way . It is all so interesting. I'd live to visit there .
Bloody he’ll Charlie, you are certainly getting out and about this visiting other towns and cities, you have done some excellent videos which give us an insight into what they are like. Having travelled all over the UK and visited many of the places that you have been filming, I was discussed to see the condition of the overflowing bins and the rubbish scattered all over the precinct on your Lancaster video. Lancaster was and still is an historical place to visit, many years a go you would not seen the bins full like they are today and rubbish all over the place because they had street cleaners who were meticulous in their job and the place was spotless. How thing change, but it’s not a good projection of their city. 👍👍👍👍👍

I'd be quite happy living in that cottage and being without tech. It looks very peaceful. Life is hard now too, even though we have central heating and so on.
Hi Charles, really enjoyed this video of Lancaster. Reminded me what an interesting place it is. Inspired me to make this video of Lancaster. If you get the time, please have a look
It looks so nice there . I love history. It's just to bad everywhere there are drunks . It's sad what is happening to the UK . I want to visit family in Liverpool this fall from Canada . Keep up the good work .

@@noelward8047 Same here. My nan had a big cast iron mangle. She had a husband and six kids, and, of course, in those old-fashioned times, she washed for all of them. There was a wash house in the back yard. There was a big sink built into a brick top and a fireplace underneath it. The fire heated the water in the sink for washing. There was no tap and no plug. The water had to be brought in by bucket and emptied the same way. I never saw it in use, although I did light a fire in there once, as a kid. The chimney must have been blocked, because it produced a lot of smoke. My nan also used a dolly tub with the agitator thing. I've just looked it up, and apparently it was called a dolly peg or a dolly pin. I dont remember those terms being used, but by the time I came along, she had a primitive washing machine.
Those 50 minutes flew by. Lancaster is beautiful. I originate from St.Albans and in comparison St.Albans is a dump 😫 Speaking of dumps, I now live on Portsea Island AKA Portsmouth & Southsea. It may be a dump but it's my dump and I love it 😍🤗🥰
Nice video, the nissan people carrier which sounded like a beast has a 3.5 v6 under the bonnet with around 240bhp I believe they must have money to burn on fuel 😂
TL:DR; A great travelogue that shows all the best bits of Lancaster. So good it makes you want to go there yourself.
Phil was a great guy and I loved his enthusiasm for his job, makes a change from the usual jobsworths you encounter.
Glad you loved Lancaster, absolutely beautiful place. We should all take pride in our towns like this. Ps the vaseline joke I choked 😂

The sad thing is that over time a lot of beautiful buildings have been demolished and replaced with ugly 60’s/70’s buildings.

The thing in the cottage used to squeeze the water our of freshly washed clothes was called a mangle.
