Why is everyone criticizing him for not singing in the same key as the original? Live is a different animal from studio, where producers might actually look for a "pushier" and brighter sound. Live is always sounding good AND comfortable at the same time 🙃🙃

He might not have been feeling his best vocally on that day, might have been sick, he likely performed a full set and in order to not lose his voice, he needs to make some changes in his approach to singing his songs. He’s also without a band right now, so he might have felt it also makes sense to not be reaching for higher notes as much. And on top of all that, maybe they did chose to make the song in a higher key in the studio cause it worked really well in that setting. Some people might say to not record something if you can’t recreate it live, but many of us, including me, would disagree. Making the best possible product in the studio is a beautiful thing, and by best, I mean to accomplish whatever goal is set out to accomplish. Why compromise on the recording when that’s what everyone will be listening to the most? You say “he can’t sing his own song”. That’s a very simple statement that doesn’t take very much into account. This song is amazing in mine and many people’s opinions (clearly, since it was a massive hit), and he pulled it off great in this key. :)

The tune is great, yet because it was too high he’s had to change it completely to sing it lower! What a shame! People want to hear him sing that song, not one with a completely different melody. I guess we would have to ask Daniel if we were going to find out what really happened.

Its a lot harder singing live than in a studio. Even the legends sound different live from their studio versions. One excellent example is Freddie Mercury. You gotta conserve your vocal energy onstage to make it last and not burn it out.
