Some of the best rides are those without a destination. A buddy and I frequently take off on a Saturday morning with the only destination being lunch... somewhere that we decide just before we take off. We get home in the early evening, usually 300+ miles later, having been nowhere in particular and having found some interesting places and awesome roads; and of course usually meet some interesting people along the way. Cycle therapy.

Very well said. If someone were to ask me "what's so good about being on a bike?" I'd point them to this comment as one of the prime examples of a good time.

Yupp, this is mostly what I do when I ride. Sometimes, it's fun to just go out and explore.

This is one of the big reasons I want a motorcycle. Driving for the sake of driving. And it won't burn a hole in my pocket, unlike if I drove my SUV on an adventure

Even driving an old beater car for the sake of driving. I did that numerous times in my old civic and even do that in my current car. It's therapy no matter the wheel count

Don't fool yourself, motorcycling is not a cheap hobby. Once you get all the gear, insurance, maintenance on the bike if you buy 2nd hand or an even bigger spending if you get a new one, you'll pay more than you'd ever pay for an average car.

As others mentioned, it's not the cheapest or even the most practical hobby, but man there's nothing quite like it. And even on the slowest bike you're as close as one gets to flying without a pilot's license haha.

It will burn a hole in your pocket. Motorcycle maintenance is frequent, and if you get hurt, that's expensive.

Not really. I've been on most major roads within one day of driving/riding from where I live. It's hard for me to "get lost."
