Art has always been in my life. In my 80’s now and my creative self is calling to just create, and media, and play for a time each day, 10/20 minutes. No rhyme or reason, I have much art making supplies through the years, and now I’m using something new and different wax day! It’s so much easier when my Have To Voice is silenced by my Kid Heart! You have always been my inspiration! Thanks, Karen Dirmish, learner 0:15 0:15
Thank you for this video. I have been feeling burned out. So I limit myself to a few minutes of painting something just for fun. Like a wash painting of the ocean and sky. I painted the first layer one day, and then go back the next day and add more details. This has helped me from feeling like I need to complete a complex painting in order to achieve something. I have to remind myself that this is just for fun. I also like to sew and garden, which helps to inspire my art.
I’ve been in major burnout for the past year after prepping for a large show. Perfect timing. Thanks Jenna!
Its interesting that grieving and burn out are so similar within the brain. But maybe no surprise since so many people turn to creativity to deal with some sort of loss, or turmoil. It has helped me so many times and as a result, like you mentioned, when I became burned out I moved to a different media. I now have about 10 different crafts I'm able to move to when burn out hits, luckily some blend into another so supplies are never wasted. Currently I am taking a break and plan to purge as you also mention, I hope it works because this time I'm really struggling with serious issues and all creativity has vanished..😢 Perhaps I will write a book..
Thank you so very much, I needed to hear this!
I am also in my 80’s and I paint like a mad woman…everyday! I love my supplies and spend a lot of time studying how different shaped brushes behave. Sometimes I follow a monthly challenge and find myself getting tired of suggestions on what to paint everyday so I revolt! It if is a different flower each day, I may paint an animal. My stuff, my choice. Thanks for your instructions and suggestions.
Thanks. Good timing for me. These are good tips. I’m trying to not be burned out with my yoga journey due to an injury. I can use this advice for yoga too.
I like cross purposing advice too.
Jenna may THINK she’s talking about art, but I’m getting life advice from her too. 😂
Thanks Jenna! So helpful. I'm frustrated by burnout right now. I'll try all these tips, especially journaling again!
Great vidéo Jenna! Love the info and will take your Advice if this should happen. Keep up your good work in water painting!😉
Love this!! Your video came at a perfect time for me ..
It’s funny, because watercolor is my outside medium purely for play. It helps me with my musical endeavors! Great tips for navigating/avoiding burnout anywhere. Thanks!
These tips were very helpful. I have been in a creative burnout for awhile. Thanks. 😊
This is fantastic thank you so much for sharing ☺☺
I needed this today. Thank you!
Thank you for the WHY suggestion , even thinking about why has given me some positive thoughts thanks Jemma ❤
Great advice. Thanks!
thank you for sharing this information. I would also recommend a session(s) psychologist if this option is available =) burnout is a step closer to the depression.
Thanks for sharing the insights
Worrrd. Thanks.
That is so interesting. About burnout. I’ve been in the medical field about 30 years. And yeah. Burnout is pretty bad.
Thank you Darling *smiles
Very good video….
Like you suggestion to write down why s thank you Jenna
can you make a living out of watercolour painting?
At 75 I am concerned about keeping my body and my brain functioning as well as possible. One of the things I hear is to learn something outside your routine comfort zone. I’ve always been a numbers person, finance, economics, etc. Art and other forms of creativity have always been a challenge. I’ve taken up watercolor as a way to, hopefully, exercise my brain, generate new neural pathways and keep that grey matter working. Plus I’m finding it is fun.
