Scary shit seeing the occasional occupied house surrounded by absolute decay.

    • @bebop504

Yeah that really is weird. I wouldn't like it. It's like living in a ghost town. It would be really awkward and depressing driving down a street that is completely abandoned and rundown but your house is the only one still "functioning". I still don't understand how ALL those people let their houses get that bad. Here in CA, there might be a few boarded up houses on a block, but the rest of the homes are filled because people need places to live! How did ALL THOSE PEOPLE let their houses get that badly dilapidated?

    • @FrankaiVideos-DetroitsComeback

@@bebop504 Those houses were empty for quite a while now. the dilapidation began AFTER they all moved out. The predatory lending scams caused thousands to walk away. Now the city has made great strides in boarding up most salvageable houses, the open ones are probably slated for demolition this year.

@@FrankaiVideos-DetroitsComeback there is no doubt in my mind those houses were in deplorable condition when people moved out. It takes a lot of money, and personal hard work to KEEP UP an old home. Something the people living in those houses didn't have.

@@rageinthefalls You can't blame the baseball player, blame thosr who are willing to play him that. Of course they should have a salary cap in place to stop the market from getting out of hand but if it's a 12 year contract that's about $35m a year which is smaller salary than many others in professional sports if you put it in comparison, not saying it's right but I wouldn't just single him out.

Frankai Videos Just because they’ve “revitalized” the downtown area doesn’t mean much in the broader scheme of things. Detroit’s blighted neighborhoods, of which there are many, are as bad as, if not wose than they were 20 years ago. There have been some good plans to consolidate the outskirts, but for multiple reasons this hasn’t happened. Detroit needs to physically shrink its boundaries in order to be able to effectively focus on the myriad of civic emergencies that exist there. Until that happens, it’s hard to imagine any significant improvement. CharlieBo313 does excellent work documenting Detroit’s (and other cities) “worst hoods”, and it’s plain to see that it’s as bad as it ever was.
